In a 16-team, 5-keeper league and I'm running middle of the pack right now and Turner going down doesn't help me much. Minutes before kickoff Thursday night and with the trade deadline for my league looming, I offered up Steve Smith (Car) and a 2010 6th rounder for Ricky Williams. Went in with the logic that Smith is having a down season but has keeper potential while Ricky, who gets the start in a run-heavy offense, is the oldest starting RB in the league and likely wouldn't be kept.
Made the deal and obviously it turned out real well for me in the first week (and decent for him as SS had almost 100 yards and 1 TD).
But naturally, word is that RW was hurt late in the 4th quarter which is reason for concern with someone his age. I'll keep an eye on it, but for at least one week, I made a well-timed, nice trade that could give me an edge headed into the final weeks.
