Week 11 Weather Alerts - Buffalo game moved to Detroit (1 Viewer)

Don’t know when the Browns travel, but if they’re not there already, they may elect today to move the game before the storm hits.
Players 'typically' travel one day before a game but I heard somewhere that equipment needs more time to get to away games and get distributed/set-up in time.
So-far the game has not been rescheduled so I 'think' they only have until tomorrow/Friday to reschedule unless it gets soo bad that they delay kickoff until Monday Night.
Interesting tidbit.
Last week the Browns played in Miami where the temperature was 84 degrees with 96% humidity for a 'feel like' temperature of 90 degrees.
This Sunday in Buffalo the temperature is forecasted to be:
Sunday 20 November +25° with a 'feels like temperature' of +10°
An 80° difference of 'feels like' temperature.
I can't see them moving to Monday night - the Bills play Thursday in Detroit.

But a 4 PM or 8 PM Sunday start gives more time for snow removal, so that might be a possibility.
Last I heard was that IF it was moved to Detroit it would be a 1:00pm game and that they would probably just stay in Detroit until Thursday.

I’m 5 min from stadium. Most snow should be accumulated by Sunday. Obviously could change.
Yes, it seems like most will be done before the game.

Media on Twitter very excited about "Thunder Snow". But I'm not seeing that during game time.

I'm expecting to be disappointed.
Correct it’ll mostly be just a nice back drop. Cold and sunny. Depends how fast they can clear Saturday

Wow, the schedule maker must really hate the Browns.
#raiderfans have have exclusive copyright restrictions on this excuse as well as most others......try something else....

I would be SHOCKED if they play this game in Buffalo. Of course they can get the field semi cleared, but the lives that would be put in danger with fan travel can't be worth it. Four feet of snow with an outside possibility of six?
Detroit ya say?
I've always found this take interesting......it is the NFL's fault and they are putting people in danger.... if people knowing the conditions .....make their own conscious decision to get in their car and drive......?

Play the game where it's scheduled. This is Buffalo. If the snow has stopped by Sunday Bill's fans know how to handle it. The fans that want to go to the game will get there. The NFL talks about everyone's safety? Really? The fans will be fine. The players will be fine. Tell The Keebler Elves to leave a little earlier. Safety? The only person's safety The NFL is concerned with is Tom Brady's. And he's not going to be there Sunday. Play the game in Buffalo, the backdrop will be awesome.

Saw that the wind in BUF on Sunday is supposed to be in the 20- to 30-mph range. Would make for an old school running contest with hardly any passing if they actually play the game in Buffalo.
Yea that's my fear. The snow they can sort of remove. Average wind of 25mph and gusts up to 40mph means no passing game.

I badly hope the game is not moved but afraid I agree with you for the reasons you stated. Can't see this game being played in Buffalo.

As an Allen owner, I would much prefer they play in DET.

In conjunction with the local government on big events, usually the answer is....yes?

Singletary go off against the porous CLE d, or does Allen steal all the carries? Trying to decide to start either Singletary or Stevenson
Weather aside, I think Stevenson is the better choice just because he has a higher floor and is more of a focal point of his offense. Plus, he is more likely to get receptions than Singleterry.

I personally think it’s being waaay over blown. My son’s hockey tourney in Buffalo looks like it’s going to be cancelled.

Boo.

How does it get played? Travel would be a nightmare. Parking? Cleaning the stadium (seats, etc.)?

Seems like playing it in Detroit just makes sense.

More rumors about Detroit. TV trucks leaving Buffalo with equipment.

This game could likely be played at 4pm or 7pm Sunday. Many people already got in town for it/Thanksgiving visits.

They have the entire state ready to help with removal from Sat till Sunday tailgate time Sunday is now looking like Sun and wind.

Only because the refs and coaches want to watch the bills game
This same with businesses etc. I think the more hype the more people can work remote or be off so everyone is driving the hype train. It used to be clear the stadium first then worry about everything else. Now it’s shutdown in advance to not go viral for anything bad happening.

hmmmm....so if I get in my car and drive to the game and get in an accident.....It's the NFL's fault and I can sue the NFL because they didn't move the game....?...is the NFL putting me as a fan in danger or am I putting myself in danger...?

lol....I'm just kind of playing devil's advocate....I get that weather in combination with resources being pushed to the max could be a consideration for cancelling/moving a game....I'm just not on board with the "saving the fans from themselves mentality" I guess.....and I just really hate all the things that get changed when a game is relocated, especially if it goes from outdoor to indoor and you mess with the other HFA's....I mean how many BUF fans are going to be able to get to DET for the game?......tickets go to waste....with the weather they probably aren't really going travel the 255 miles to DET....is that 4.5 hour drive any safer....?....but whatever...

Yes, and if you drink and drive on your way to the game that resulting DUI is also the NFL’s fault for charging $14 for a bud light.

No jury in the world would convict you.

under dram shop laws any establishment that serves alcohol can be found liable for the harmful acts of its intoxicated customers where the establishment acts negligently in serving the intoxicated customer alcohol (i.e. over-serving), and the customer then causes harm to himself or a third-party victim.

ETA: what I said is in general - the laws will vary in different jurisdictions.

So let me see if I understand this. The game might be moved out of Buffalo for safety concerns as far as people travelling to the stadium IN Buffalo. They might move it to Detroit? Wouldn't that mean moving The Buffalo Bills and all that entails to Detroit DURING a snowstorm?

I'm totally with you when it comes to fans. I think the trickier part is about all the employees that would be "required" or pressured to go out in a driving ban, or whatever. That's when I think the NFL would have some culpability.

It’s not about liability, it’s about reputation and logistics. Right now, it’s a potential nightmare for Cleveland to try to figure out how to get their equipment and team to Buffalo. The logistics are a mess and there would be serious danger of highways and airports being closed and it being impossible for them to get their stuff/players there.

And fans getting stuck on roads, getting into accidents, getting hurt, etc., isn’t a liability issue for the league, but it’s certainly a reputation issue. If they have the game and people get hurt getting there, it doesn’t matter that it’s the fault of those fans. People will look at the decision and say that the NFL knew those fans paid their money and would want to go and therefore they encouraged dangerous behavior. Not to mention there would certainly be a diversion of resources to get roads/etc opened up to the stadium and people would (rightly) complain that the resources were diverted from more important things so that a football game could be played.

like I mentioned....I get that side of things to a certain extent....but if moved...I am assuming they will honor the tickets sold when the game was originally in BUF....so now you have a bunch of BUF people traveling 250 miles in a snow storm or through a **** ton of snow to go to a game....

curious question....if they move the game....do original ticket holders get their money back....?

That’s… Very different than what I posted.

1. Do they honor all the BUF tickets in DET

2. If you can't make it to DET and you have a ticket....do you get a refund

Are you new to how a civilized society works??

So stupid. I thought the NFL tries to make changes to make football optimally entertaining, not the opposite.
