Week 12 Waiver Wire Defense (1 Viewer)

After the Tenn, NYJ debacle we maybe better off leaving DEF out of our rosters, So we don't go Negative. Who you got this week?

STL vs. Chicago....STL maybe dropped over bye week

BAL vs. NYJ

NO vs ATL

Nyg available in mine. Also have hou but debating dropping them after this weeks performance. The matchup is good for hou though, but so was Oakland and they got rolled.

Ravens D looks good next three weeks (vs. Jets, vs Steelers, vs Minny). Also can't go wrong with Saints against imploding Atlanta.

Ravens look like a big-time trap game. First of all, they're not that good. Second, Geno totally has a Jeckyll/Hyde thing going this year, and he's due for a good game.

Leaning toward Dallas. Also considering Indy @ ARI, STL vs Chicago and Cleveland vs Pitt (or even Pitt vs Cleveland).

Houston sucks
This. I just dropped them for Garrett Graham (Jordan Reed owner). I'd rather roll with the Chiefs at home against a Chargers team that might be without Keenan Allen (also an owner  ).

Edited to add;

Another factor in my decision to drop the Texans defense was that if there is even the slightest chance that Schaub starts, I don't want any part of this defense. He and his Pick 6 specials kill defenses.

Good topic this week. I have been doing the swap out in 2 of my 3 leagues (KC in the other) and even in my league with KC, had to go with Arizona the past couple weeks. Some awful turnovers by Arizona's O in the red zone cost Arizona some more points. They actually played pretty well and scored decently for a waiver pickup. That said, their schedule isn't as juicy as it had been. Looking at the potential choices, I don't like a lot of them at all. Dallas plays the Giants and their run D is so bad that I could see Eli barely throwing it, especially with as well as the Giants D has been playing.

I am thinking St. Louis or NO might be the best shots. Even Baltimore might be tough because as mentioned above, the Jets are bi-polar and this week is their "good" week. Maybe the Jets against Baltimore since Rice will do nothing this week?

This is going to be a tough week. I've received great performances from rolling with the Giants the past two weeks...but I just don't think I can hold on to them against the Cowboys.

It's tempting though, after four weeks of 20+ fantasy points from the Giants in my league's scoring.

Pryor, Tolzien, Freeman, and Barkley are the main reasons the Giants have been fantasy candy the past several weeks. Deploying them against Romo seems like a dangerous plan.

Guess I will stick with Houston but don't feel great about it. I think they are still better plays this week over nyg or gb. Hoping somebody drops another option....

I have Houston for JAX in weeks 12 and 14, and Cleveland for JAX in Week 13.

Cleveland also has NYJ in week 16. So I am dropping HOU after week 14 and grabbing someone for week 15, but otherwise I am now set the rest of the season with 3 JAX and 1 NYJ matchup and 1 matchup TBD.

I have the bills but at last minute thanks to these dumb threads I changed my mind and dropped em for the JETS!!!!!

Might cost me my win tonight as I am up by 30 with my kicker Gostkowski against Brady/Gano/Olsen

If I would have stuck to my guns I would have an easy 50 point cushion.

Third straight week my D has scored 0 or worse!!!!

I grabbed up the Giants for this week. Not so sure about them against the Cowboys offense....the only thing I like about it is they are at home and they are playing well and with confidence.

Has JAX graduated from "always start their opposing D" status yet? (Cut to anyone who started TENN/ARI against them the past two weeks nodding vigorously.) In fact, I'll go further: Not only may that no longer be true of Jax, I'm not sure anyone else has stepped up to replace them.

Tough decision there...whether or not to bench KC Defense at home

The Chiefs haven't had a sack or even hit the QB in two weeks, so it isn't like they're a lead-pipe lock against a Charges team that can put up points. That said, if I didn't have the "luxury" of the Chiefs option, I'd go with:

GB vs Minny

Who are available on my waiver wire. The Vikings are God-awful and Peterson's groin sound like it's a problem.

Hmm, that sounds like another "bad D with good match-up" trap game. Packers have only hit double figures in fantasy points once this year (Week 3 vs. Cinci). The fact that their offense has tanked without Rodgers doesn't help, either.

How well did Washington do with their "dream matchup" vs Minny last week?

Guess you're all screwed this week then, sorry.

I'm going with Baltimore vs NYJ, who I grabbed last week with this week in mind. AND if the Bills are available due to their bye this week, you might want to look at that playoff schedule and find a spot for them on your roster.

Is anyone still starting Denver? Im about done with them. Dall, StL, Balt, NO are available. Im going to use whomever is there after waivers.

Here's why I'm leaning toward Dallas: They're the Dennis Green of fantasy defenses. They are who we thought they were.

When faced with a bad match-up (KC, Denver, NO, Detroit) they've averaged fewer than 4 FPG. But against bad offenses (NYG, STL, Minn, PHI with Barkley) they've taken care of business, averaging more than 16 FPG. And with so-so matchups (SD, Wash) they've averaged 8 FPG. This might seem like a truism, but it's not. Check out Cinci this year, or ask anyone who started Indy at home vs STL.

Giants are playing better, and Eli's slowed his INT rate, so maybe it's not the dream match-up we thought we had a few weeks ago. Still, in a week with few options, I want to crown their a##, so I'll crown their a##.

Streaming has been a crapshoot at best for this year but there's nothing else available, so I'll be choosing between:

Titans @ Raiders

Jets @ Ravens

Both have been disappointments when I've started them, to put it mildly

Not sure what to think about the rams. They've had some amazing games but chicago is a bad matchup I think. Leaning them or baltimore

Looking like I'm going to go Cleveland this week. Figure Haden will shut down Brown and Sanders probably is out. Leaves Ben with Wheaton and Cotchery at WR. Browns D has been decent all year, plus they get the Jags in Week 13.

Agree. Like the Rams ROS but not sure about this week. On the bright side, they should have a pretty high floor vs Chicago -- it's not like McCown is going to hang 40 on them.

Forced to pick up the NYG v Dal because Cinn on bye and NE v Den.

I hope the Dallas offense looks like the one that played NO. Maybe Romo can come through with a pick-six. The Giants have been better on D recently against less-than-stellar QBs. I guess we'll see what they're made of against a real QB. There seems to be a good chance that the Giants will be able to run the ball and keep the Dallas offense on the bench. That could help.

Giants or NE against Denver. :wall: I am a giants homer which just makes it that much more painful if they bone me.

Maybe The Rams this week against McCown? i'll put in a waiver claim and see what happens.

Tough week indeed. CIN on bye and waiver wire has been picked over pretty good. How would anyone rate:

DAL @ Giants

OAK vs Tenn

IND @ Arizona

PIT @ Clevelend

Horrible options, I know.

Yeah, I am in the same boat...have to pay for waivers so I am leaning towards sticking with the Giants D. They have been good the last few weeks and Cowboys are always a candidate for 2-3 turnovers, but they scare me because they can put 30+ up any week as well.

Of that group, I think I like Indy the most. Palmer is usually good for an INT or 2 and their OL doesn't do a good job protecting him.

Indy has been awful besdies the Jax week.

Cutting them for Cleveland in a league :GULP:

Yeah, there doesn't look to be a lot out there if you don't have a decent option already.

Saints & Rams look decent where available. Past that is pretty dim. CLE? HOU? TEN?? As a long shot, DET?

Not sure why people think this is a tough week. This is probably the most options Ive seen in weeks.

BAL, IND, HOU, NO, CLE, & STL are all legit options and most are available on WW.

I have limited options, too, and am going with Indy

Indy has been dreadful lately. I do like the matchup but their pass D has been bad as of late. I'm leaning towards Dallas.

My concern is that they just lost the heart and soul of their defense.

I'm going all-Texas and streaming Houston and Dallas for the rest of the season, I think. Might not be the 100% best defenses, but I think they're the best of what's left and they'll do. They're as likely to put up 15 points as anyone else at this point, IMO.
