Week 12 Waiver Wire (1 Viewer)

My claims (16-team standard, desperately need a WR and am finally giving up on John Brown):

1. Boyd

2. Thielen

3. Sharpe

Dont feel super confident in any of them. Have Boyd first because he looks to be the WR1 (or at least 1A) for the next few weeks. Thielen is a WR2 who benefitted this week from the fact that Peterson was on Diggs, but he does have a good matchup vs Detroit. Sharp is a WR2 who has a bye in Week 13 plus a tough playoff schedule.
Kept the first two, but decided not to bother on Sharpe. He's just as much a dart throw as Brown at this point.

Would anyone burn their priority on Sammy Watkins if available?
I just put in for him anywhere he's still available. Even if I don't end up using him, I'm not watching him blow up against me if he comes back 100% soon in leagues where I'm looking like I'll make the playoffs.

Interesting call, and solid analysis. Have  trouble seeing Hooper as a guy who could outperform other options that may be out there at TE -- Ladarius Green, Jared Cook, even Fiedorowicz seems dependable. But the upside is clearly there with Hooper and he seems to be taking advantage of the situation.
I just can't trust Ladarius yet. He just isn't getting much usage, and there is no way I could plug him in currently when he has had only 4 and 2 targets the last couple of weeks. Even if I like the "potential" which many including me.....seem to think he still has, how could any of us possibly start him when most teams are needing another win to get into the playoffs.

Jared Cook = MEH.  Think Jermichael Finley part 2.  Cook will have a good game here and there, but there are too many mouths to feed there in Green Bay, and the team is about one loss away from being a media joke/dumpster fire.  Another one I couldn't hitch my wagon to, at this point in the fantasy season.

Now CJ Fiedorowicz on the other hand, his track record this season has been pretty good. Like the QB or not, he is getting targets and seems to have a decent 4-5 point floor. He is averaging roughly 7 targets a game after week 4. He is one I think I could trust if I had to, and he is still available in most spots.

In fact I think I might take him over Austin Hooper, who I was touting. Some points were brought up about Hooper, and I agree with most of what everyone says. I just think going forward with no Tamme, he may very well have some solid games down the stretch. Its may very well be extremely ugly this week vs AZ though. Here is one you could probably wait on until next week, and take a chance if you are still desperate. But of the ones you mentioned, I can get behind CJ Fiedorowicz.

I'm in a bit of a jam, with my WR3 position.

I need a fill in, and I cannot get Tyler Boyd. (I'm an AJ Green owner in that league)  Its a start 3WR league, and there isn't much left out there at this point. I currently have Marvin Jones slotted in as my WR3, and he is about to get cut.

Plus I am getting Eric Ebron to slide in at TE after losing Zach Miller.

Eli Rogers, Taylor Gabriel and Brandon Lafell are amongst the luminaries I have to choose from there.   :wall:

Might have to snag LaFell and hope.

I have heard all across the industry what a great "waiver wire week" this is, but it looks like a bunch of short-term patchwork plays in the leagues I am in.

Ivory was dropped in my league. Smallwood is available also. Don't see any other RBs this week. AJ Green may be coming back so I'm going to hold him. The WR that I would have snagged is Boyd. I think he will put up WR 2 numbers.

Ladarius is looking like an undependable dud, a one week wonder we won't be able to predict.  Streaming TE is the best remaining bet there.

Same issue with AJ Green here.  I went for Tyler Boyd (upside vs. LaFell) and had already stashed Watkins.  As you say, Rogers and the forgotten Gabriel, and perhaps one of the SD WR's are streaming options as well.  I let go of Ladarius to get Boyd.

My personal philosophy is to stay away from rookie WR's, and instead look at 2nd/3rd year players who are just starting to "get it" and be productive.  There will be no studs on the waiver wire at WR.

Smallwood, Gillislee and Cousins are all available to me right now but I don't know who I would drop if I grabbed one.  I could really use the RB help since I have Mariota and Winston at QB.

Drop Winston and pick up Smallwood if you need RB help. Mariota will be your starter the rest of the way.

Have you looked at his schedule?  There are two games you can NOT start him (Bye and Denver).  I wouldn't want to start him at KC either.  That leaves you one game in W16 (AT Jax).  Pass.  And have you seen Winston's W14 and W16?  I've waited all year for those.  Hell, at Dallas in W15 isn't too shabby, either.  He could be dropping back all 2nd half in that one.

I'd think twice about that advice.

If he's available, I think you throw a dart and hope he doesn't pull his ###### the week he come back. The guy is ALWAYS hurt but has talent for the two games a season he's healthy. I am unsure I could trust him a FF playoff game. Remember Fragile Fred...same applies.

Adam Thielen should put up wr2 numbers this week with Diggs out. I'm probably starting him over bother Landry and Marshall. Unreal

Added him today to start for Moncrief who I just can't bring myself to start without Luck and now he's QU.

Fingers crossed...

I'm thinking about dropping Landry for a kicker in a non ppr league instead of Tyrell Williams, Smallwood, Dixon/West.

Ditto...with Diggs out, Thielen should get the receptions in a PPR.  Also thinking Eli Rogers as Steeler will be playing ball control and Indy will focus on Bell and Brown.

Anyone willing to drop A. Morris to start Smallwood this week?

I have Zeke and am tempted to drop him to start Smallwood over Ingram

With Seattle heating up and Wilson finally healthy, anyone think Lockett could finally bust out? He looked dynamic last week and almost scored twice. Negative = low targets due to too many mouths to feed.

I picked him up again (deep league), not much out there...

is there precedence in having thumb surgery and playing 6 days later?  because that is the current reporting on Mccoy's thumb injury.  Gillislie may be a decent 1 week rental

meredith may seem like the last viable target remaining in the bears passing game... but remember this is the same bears offesne that hasnt scored more than 20 points all season.  rex burkhead may be a cheaper faab bid in ppr that could potentially produce near a gio benard level
as a gio owner i would caution, that isn't sayin much.  i grabbed watkins and thielen instead, also bailed on perkins.

That's pretty poor advice.  Mariota has a tougher schedule and doesn't even play the first week of my playoffs.  Winston has the easier schedule during my playoffs.  I'm starting Mariota this week, although I should have picked up Cousins, and then I'm dropping Mariota and rolling with Winston the rest of the season.

I ended up dropping Corey Coleman for Smallwood.  I don't see where I would start Coleman at all since he has a bye in the first week of the playoffs as well.  Chances are he'll still be there for me to pick up if I wanted him back.

Any dynasty people eyeing Paul Turner PHI?  Could fit a Beasley-like role in PHI if Agholor takes some me-time.
Not sure what you mean by a Beasley-like role, but he is certainly nothing like him physically.  He looked good in the preseason and could actually catch the ball unlike the rest of the eagles, so maybe a possession guy, but not running those quick outs and short crossing routes like Beasley.

Beasley 5'8, 175, 4.49 40, 17 bench, 38 vert, 10'6 broad, 4.40 shuttle, 7.16 3cone

Turner 5'10, 193, 4.55 40, 18 bench, 39 vert, 10'10 broad, 4.31 shuttle, 7.25 3cone

0 catches in 23 snaps so fitting right in with the Eagles so far

interesting on some of those metrics, but turner definitely is bigger and seemed like more of a strider and didn't run any of the beasley-ish roles in preseason that I recall.

no idea what they are planning to do with him after getting no looks on Monday.  Agholor looks like he will be active on Sunday.  I do see Turner playing some role in the long term and there is clearly opportunity there.

He would have had a lot less snaps but for the Matthews injury. Matthews only had 24 snaps and Agholor didn't dress of course. For some reason Doug P just doesn't value him or trust him that much. His upside is pretty limited so they are giving every opportunity to DGB and Treggs over him. Maybe if the WR were established, they'd give him more of a 4th wr role like Eli Rogers in Pitts is getting. I get your point about him maybe not being as quick twitch as Beasley. It's possible, don't think we know from preseason. He's probably just not that good overall, just feels better, more Philly, than the draft busts.

With Gronk officially out ROS, who're the names to go looking for on the WW?  I'm in a short-bench lg (only 2 spots), so we have some names floating out there.  The obvious is Bennett, who would be my first look, but who else?

Depends on how deep your league is. Josh Hill and AJ Derby are some deeper names. Vernon Davis a possibility with Reed injured.
