Week 17 Championship Guys(Discussion) (1 Viewer)

For Next Weeks Championship guys out there we need to stick together to get some knowledge. There's always some good prospects out there on the Waiver Wire and always some studs sitting the bench after teams have clinched.

My guesses: Indianapolis. Might play the starters a few series' but truly have no reason to play any of their guys past the first quarter after losing the last reason to put their guys in danger with the loss this week. Guys to be benched.

Manning Addai Wayne Clark Freeney Mathis etc

San Diego is in the same situation with the 2 seed locked up I'd guess they'll sit Rivers, LT, Sproles, VJax, Gates

Now onto some other spots, what about New England? They play before Cincinnati and are only competing between having the 3 or 4 seed. BB isn't the type of coach who usually benches his starters but there's still some question on what they'll do, my guess is the starters play until the game is out of reach one way or the other.

New Orleans will probably sit their guys but they might want to let them get some confidence back after a few losses.

Minnesota will be scoreboard watching if depending on what goes on against Chicago they could lose their first round bye. If Dallas is beating Philly they might pull starters. This could be a stretch but I don't think they want to push Farve and could sit some guys banged up.

Arizona has the freedom to do whatever they want since they'll have the four seed after locking up their division. Any other thoughts or things I missed add on!

Nice post but

Don't have home field throughout yetand there is already a thread on this
The saints will play everyone at least until they are up 21 if that happens. Drew was on talk radio and he is looking for a COMPLETE game next week, starting fast and finishing hard. I think most of the NFC is playing everyone in the early games. AFC will probably see NE go with everyone Indy no one, and I don't see any WW pickups on that back up teamI would think you might see Fitz and maybe warner take a knee early

I'm in this boat. I think tonight's game affects a lot. If Chicago somehow wins, the Vikings and Cardinals suddenly have a lot to play for.

Also, the Bengals will know by 8p if they need to win for the #3 seed or not. It is very possible that it won't matter (either because NE lost and Bengals SOV is better, or because NE won and Bengals SOV ended worse) and in that case they will rest everyone IMO.

Arizona and Green Bay also seem like good prospects to rest key starters.
Arizona still has an outside shot at the #2 seed
Yes, I believe this is true but NFL.com says they need a Philly loss and a Minny loss -- and Minny plays in the early game, so if Minny wins, then Arizona might rest their starters? This sucks as I have to choose between Rodgers and Warner. It sounds like Green Bay could be sitting starters as they can't do better than the #5 or #6 seed.Hate leagues with week 17 championship games...

Anybody got a link to a site that has all the playoff seeding possibilities listed by team?

I've been looking in vain, on and off today. I have found one incomplete list after another.

I've seen the calculator on Yahoo. Yeah, neat, but I'd rather see a text list of the results. You know, Arizona could be this seed or that seed if this or that or that happens.

Thanks much. However, that's one of the ones I'd looked at. It's mainly concerned with what a team needs to clinch a spot, but it doesn't break down all the seeding scenarios for each team. For instance, Green Bay. That site says "Green Bay — playoff spot." I'm looking for a list that says GREEN BAY, and then lists the ways in which the Packers could be the #5 seed and the ways in which they could be the #6 seed. I've found a few that come close, and I could aggregate them all, I suppose, but was thinking somebody'd done all that legwork already, somewhere.I realize it might be a bit wordy. But it'd be a helpful reference.
