Week 17 + Wild Card Round (1 Viewer)

IF

Dal beats Was

Oak beats Bal

KC beats Den

NYJ beats Cin

Hou beats NEP

Than all four wildcard matchups be rematches of Week 17 games.

HOU @ NEP

NYJ @ CIN

GB @ ARI

PHI @ DAL

Pretty cool if it happens

not if the Vikings lose one of their last two games and the Eagles win next week...
Also, if GB loses next week and Dallas wins out, then the wildcard round would be GB vs. Philly/Min and Dallas vs. AZ.
Actually check that, Dallas winning out would give them the division. And a Green Bay loss would mean a win for Arizona and an identical record as Dallas for the Cardinals. Both teams would be 9-3 vs. the NFC. What is the next tiebreaker to determine who is the 3 and who is the 4 seed. If Arizona has the tiebreaker, then they would jump to 3 and knock Green Bay to 6 ensuring the scenario mentioned in the OP.

I'm not sure if this right. If Dal wins out, GB will face ARI regardless of the GB/ARI game next week. Atleast that is what Yahoo is showing.
If AZ and Dal win out, then I think that the tiebreaker will be strength of victory.

You might be right, I corrected myself in post #7. I'm still looking into it.

I did the necessary investigating and the deciding tiebreaker between Dallas and Arizona would be record versus common opponents. And that tiebreaker would go to Arizona. So yes, it is true for the NFC. If Dallas hangs on tonight, it ensures Dallas/Philly and GB/AZ matchups the next 2 weeks so long as Minnesota doesn't fall apart and drop all the way down to a 3 seed.

Here's why...

If Dallas wins next week over Philly they would win the NFC East and take either the 3 or 4 seed. An Arizona win would give AZ the 3 and knock GB down to 6 with Dallas as the 4 and Philly the 5. An Arizona loss would give Dallas the 3 seed and Arizona would get the 4 seed. Green Bay's win over the Cards would put them at 5 and knock Philly all the way down to 6 with the Packers taking the tiebreaker over Philly due to better record vs common opponents.

If Philly wins next week over Dallas the Eagles would win the NFC East and would secure the 3 seed. Arizona would be locked into the 4 seed. And Dallas' loss to Philly would ensure Green Bay as the 5 seed.

So in essence these matchups would be locked in due to the 3rd tiebreaker in each case which is record versus common opponents. Arizona has it over Dallas and Green Bay has it over Philly. Of course this all all moot if the Vikings fail to secure at least the 2 seed.

One point to stress is the fact that if Philadelphia wins next week it means Minnesota must win its last 2 games or else the Eagles are the #2 seed. If Minnesota loses either of its last two and Philly beats Dallas then the Eagles hold the tiebreaker over the Vikings.

That would send the whole repeat opponents scenario right down the drain.

Amazingly, Philadelphia could very easily wind up a #6 seed and just as easily get the #2. Quite the drastic difference there.

nm, i see it.GB, NYG, Sea, Carolina

Total of 5 games each.

AZ would be 4-1 and Dal 3-2.

How do teams approach a game knowing that they'll play that same opponent the next week?

Is it a game of "try to do as little as possible?"

Im thinking the GB/AZ game will be a boring snoozefest of backups, while DAL/PHI will be an all out war, this game has homefield at stake...
