Week 2 - East Coast Weather updates (1 Viewer)

Hey all,

As I'm sure you know, an offshore tropical storm (Julia) has the potential to create some rain and even thunderstorm conditions for east coast games (NO @ NYG, CIN @ PIT, MIA @ NEP, etc.)  Any homers on the ground in these areas that can keep us all up to date with local weather forecast, wind patterns, and "what it looks like out there?"

I'm no more than 5 miles from Metlife Stadium (NYG) and it is very grey outside with occasional "strong winds," meaning big gusts, but not in anyway what you think when you think "tropical storm."

Good thread. However, I once benched Hines Ward due to heavy snow and he went off for 22 fantasy points. It was a blizzard out there too. I do like bad weather for defenses and sometimes running backs though. It can really hurt a kicker too.

How windy is it in NYC?  If it gets above 15 mph, it begins to be felt in the passing game.  In my experience, high winds has the biggest impact of all weather conditions.

Not bad at all now as in pretty much no wind.  I was up at 5am and it was blowing then, nothing now.  Just very grey and very humid.

I love snow for the passing game.  It creates slippery footing and the WRs know where they are going while the DBs need to react.  Much harder to react on poor footing than it is to "plan where you're going" with bad footing.  Add to that that with snow, the ball does not get soaked and slippery like it does with rain so QBs still have great grip and can throw accurate to receivers being covered by DBs with bad footing.

Rain however does make gripping the football tough so QBs can't throw as well and receivers (despite still the bad footing advantage) can't catch it as well + more poorly thrown balls.

So from my experience (both fantasy and playing football), snow helps a passing game while rain impacts it negatively.

Well said! Good luck today!

You too.  Got crushed in both my leagues last week.  Need a rebound.
Thanks. I'm in a couple of different leagues. Fire league is a lot of fun. I'm in the top 250 right now. I'm a little concerned about the possibility of rain in NY with OBJ.

Not feet on the ground reports but forecasts for each game, including wind speed and direction. Click on event details and it'll give you more details of the forecast

So according to this, weather doesn't look to be much of an issue out east.  Wash game has the highest chance of rain, and that is around 50%.  Looks like none of the winds listed are more than 8mph or so.
