I disagree with Brown > Harper. I think its actually Harper > Brown. As the season goes on I think this will be seen.
It could happen, but I'll happily disagree. I see almost the opposite happening. I pimped Harper probably harder than anyone in the run up to the draft. Where most thought the Saints reached, I thought they were brilliant. But he is so raw in coverage and so young physically, I can see him being benched as easily as I can see him developing. If NO's LBs looked like the garbage I thought they were, then I would bump Harper some, but in truth, Fujita and Shanle played at a high level, and Harper despite the SS title played a lot of deep coverage. Mike Brown went to the Pro Bowl last year, and had a mediocre season. He's had some fantastic fantasy seasons and he has always been a guy who can post a silly monster game that changes fantasy outcomes. I love that in my DBs. It goes back to the consistency vs. explosiveness debate. Brown appears to be healthy, but that is the key to taking Harper over him. There is no other compelling reason. So, look at this guy's DBs. Clements, Dawkins, Gibril, Boulware... he is solid without Harper or Brown. I would rather add a potential monster with an injury concern than a developing rookie. .02
I see your point. But they also used Harper to rush as he had a sack. Bullocks looked really good out in the open and I think once he gets better roaming the secondary Harper will be pulled in more towards the line.

So Im trying to use Briggs to upgrade my DB's. I was wondering if that's worth doing or instead I should just follow the waiver wire and try to find a good sleeper corner and keep what I have. There are guys like Marlin Jackson, Jason Allen, Barret Ruud, Saun Williams, T. Holt, Daniel Manning, T. Tillman, J Phillips, Eugene Wilson, Carlos Rogers, Kelly Jennings, Landry, Page, Pollard, Brodney Pool, NY Jets Smith on the WW. With that said. The first question is should I drop Mike Brown for any of those guys right off the bat?The second question is should I trade Briggs to upgrade any of those? Or should I trade Briggs for an offensive upgrade and a guy like Bart Scott, Terrell Suggs, Chris Gamble, in the process clearing a spot and then picking one of those guys from the WW.Is Suggs worth much in a league where LB and DL count for the same position?I could also try clearing another spot and just adding one of those guys on the WW.Also, im getting a lot of offers for Crowder. Aside from Daryl Smith who Im trying to move, who would be the better guy to trade away, McCoy, Crowder, or Briggs?Well, thanks in advance!
Anyone got help for me at all here? Thanks.

Your DBs rock. I'd be having the same thoughts with Brown and McCoy available.Brown > HarperMcCoy > Your least favorite LB. Who might that be?
To be honest, I've become very concerned about Bruschi, both short and long term, as a result of his latest injury, but past that, Nap Harris/Haggans are both, to me, very iffy players, though I'd held out hope that Nap. Harris's role as 3 down backer in that system would help produce numbers.

You don't need seven DLs to cover three starter positions. You do however need more than three DBs .Shaun Williams is probably your best bet off the wire. Impossible to tell who you could trade for with Briggs. McCoy or Smith as the bait.Probably your best three LBs long term are Urlacher, Ryans and Crowder - provided Crowder takes over from Zach Thomas. This is not certain - the old man did not retire yet - and weho knows who might fall to the Dolphins next year or even the year after that. Next to Thomas, Crowder's value is probably abut the same as Briggs or McCoy - in that range, certainly - maybe you should consider to sell while the (perceived) value is there - it is a gamble though and it could go either way.

IMHO Napoleon Harris will become more of a factor as the season goes. Haggans is a much more iffy proposisition.

Haggans is certainly very hot or cold, but has mattered since our league heavily weights sacks, and he's in on 3rd down as a pass rusher. I don't necessarily disagree that he might be the better drop though.

You don't need seven DLs to cover three starter positions.
Actually, he can start 5 LBs and just 2 DBs if he wants. This is a Yahoo set up where LBs and DLs are not differentiated. Because of that I cannot understand why he wants to move Briggs, who is better than any upgrade available at DB. Brake?

Looks good to me. The more conservative advice might be to start Whitner over Rolle or Archuleta, but I like your lineup fine. Nice LBs, btw... sheesh.

I'd want to fish around for an upgrade to Udeze. He hasn't looked like a bunch of sacks are on his schedule. I know some here really like Hali, and they certainly could be right, but I'd be interested in a longer list of available DEs and CBs. Otherwise, you have a nice squad for that scoring (and I get the Ram CB question now). Fun set up, btw.

Jene, thanks for doing this

DT: start 1

Patterson, Mike PHI DT 7.40 = rotation, but played well

Williams, Kevin MIN DT 0.00 = I thought he'd be automatic, but is he?

DE: start 2

Hall, James DET DE 13.20 = looked great against Seattle, Chi?

Hargrove, Tony STL DE 8.20 = I like this kid, but he's on the bench

Smith, Justin CIN DE 28.50 = he was on my bench last week, must start?

Umenyiora, Osi NYG DE 2.60 = start your studs right?

LB, start 4

Gold, Ian DEN LB 4.20 = another guy I thought I'd start, not sure now, but against KC?

Howard, Thomas OAK LB 13.60 = looked real good, but mostly because he was on the field a lot

Johnson, Landon CIN LB 12.00 = really not sure here

Morgan, Dan CAR LB 2.60 = injured, easy

Seward, Adam CAR LB 10.40 = does he get the start?

Simmons, Brian CIN LB 12.00 = really not sure here

Vilma, Jonathan NYJ LB 15.20 = automatic start

CB, start 2

Bly, Dre' DET CB 11.30

Robinson, Dunta HOU CB 11.20

S, start 2

Polamalu, Troy PIT S 20.20 = auto if healthy

Sanders, Bob IND S 12.00 = vs. Houston, could be a nice game.

Schweigert, Stuart OAK S 8.80 = probably benched all year

Williams, Madieu CIN S 14.50 = INT ops

Forced fumble = 2.5

INT = 5.5

passes defensed = 1

Tackles = 1.6

Sacks = 5

As you can see, there's some tough calls here. The only position I'm sure about is Corner.

You're right. Thats why Im only carrying 3 dbs. I find they can score biggy but are more dependant on the big play than LB's. I was trying to trade Briggs for the likes of Roy Williams for his steadiness and lack of injury history or Offensive Upgrades. Certainly would keep him otherwise. Which seems to be the case since Ive been turned down thus far on my offers for a top DB. I might just stick with 3 DB unless they start to underperform. Mostly im trying to unload Smith since he seems to score about the same as DB's and Leroy Hill is still on waivers, i see them as at least equivelent with a slight edge to Hill. But thanks for both your hep guys.

I feel pretty solid with my top 3 (Urlacher, A Davis, and Marshall), but who should I plug in for my flex?

EJ Henderson vs. CAR

B James vs. WAS

D Smith vs. PIT

T Davis @ MIN

A Seward @ MIN

I feel comfortable that EJ will get me double digit production, but am wondering if A Seward's upside is worth rolling the dice on this weekend. I've seen another post that said that Draft could be Morgan's replacement, but I've not read anything conclusive.

Appreciate your help and good luck this weekend!

DT: KW... 2nd time around at home against the conference champs should evoke a positive reactionDE: J Smith (against CLE? no brainer); I like Hall a bit more than Ume, only because he's facing Grossman rather than McNabb.LB: Vilma, Simmons, Howard, and Gold (unless you find out that Seward is the starter -- then I'd insert him in Gold's place)S: Polamalu and Williams. I love Sanders, but more in run support. HOU will fall behind and will be passing all day.Good luck and cheers :banned:

Hey Oz,I pushed for this thread. We got it. The Staffers who post here regularly immediately vanished. So, I'm helping since this thread came about in part from my whining.DTI wouldn't give up on Kevin Williams. I'd start him over Patterson. That rotation bugs me.DEI feel the same about Osi. JSmith vs JHall is a mindbender. I like the way Rogers is making things easy for Hall. But, Cincy should get Cleveland on the ropes and Smith should get turned loose more. I'd go with Smith based on the type of games I expect both to end up in, and he is the better talent, possibly, finally, breaking out.LBVilma, Simmons, and Seward would got straight into my lineup, then I would debate Thomas vs Gold vs Johnson. Gold is my pick. LJ, Huard, Broncos fired up. I'll predict a sack and forced fumble for Gold, what the hey.DBPolamalu Sanders, but you have injury worries here and should probably start scouting out some talent. I own both too, and they just hit too hard too often. I'm worried they'll both break down this year. Madieu is great insurance, but Schweigert can probably be upgraded.

Everything I am reading says Seward is going to start. I'm advising all of us to roll those dice (unless they annonce Draft as the starter). This is a nice spot for Seward considering Chester Taylor. You have 4 LBs who deserve consideration, imo. I like EJ a lot this year. He is probably the safer play.

Harper does play GB, that's very good.Mike Brown plays Detroit.Milloy plays for Atlanta but against Tampa Bay.I recommend less repetitive slamming of your frontal lobe against solid objects, and Mike Brown in most scoring systems.

harper sack last week gb will run 40 times this week and farve throws hs typical 2 int each week
Miami Style-- I'm not as high on Harper as many, and I admit I could be wrong. I'm a little slow to respond to rookies, who are often hyped a little unreasonably. Harper certainly could be a better play than Brown this week, and we discussed them in this thread already. I personally would kick myself if I started Harper and Brown had one of those days of his.

That is exactly how I feel. Harper did show some stuff last week, and M. Brown is a Stud who didn't do too much last week. I have a hard time benching studs, especially when its for a rookie. As far as Milloy is concered, I like his matchup against TB. They should run alot and he should get his share of tackles, however, I think the big play abililty of Milloy has passed, so tackles is probably all I will get.I am leaning towards Brown since he is the biggest playmaker of the bunch and he usually puts up good tackle numbers as well. His recent injury scares me though.

Your Ram CB Question. I didn't understand it. Now I do. You could drop Greenwood or Wimbley (who isn't starting yet) and add Hali. Is this a keeper or dynasty? Making that move doesn't solve all your DL byes (conflicts with Burgess), but it covers the other two, and balances your roster.

It's hard to say if Brown is a good fill in without seeing the available CBs.

Ok these are all the guys available in my league... Wimbley I thought had huge upside thats why I was holding on to him... Greenwood is consitent he should average about 7 tackles a game.. Seward I got because Morgan is out.. Who should I add or drop.... Theres soem decent corenrs out there left...... What do you think I shoudl do...1. 4. With 15 pt picks, McAlister should be on a team. He is an incredible talent and could easily lead the NFL in interceptions this year. He had a pedestrian season last year, but he is still as good as any cover corner out there. He's been an afterthought IDP in standard systems for the same reason Deion was at one point. QBs avoid him and he isn't much of a tackler anyway. Smoot is going to have a big season in the cover 2. Not sure you want both Minny CBs, but not sure that's a bad thing either. In your system I project Smoot > Winfield understanding picks are very hard to project. You're right about the DEs. Stick with Udeze. But starting three every week, I think you should grab Hali in case he takes off. Tyler Brayton showed decent explosion and has been moved back to DE where he belongs and will be on the field a lot this year. I'm intrigued, but there's no rush for him in free agency. True Greenwood is sort of solid and Wimbley has big upside, but sometimes you have to balance a roster at the expense of someone you like seeing on your bench. I think this case qualifies. In a redraft, I'd lose Wimbley. In a dynasty, Greenwood. Obviously, I am intrigued by Morgan's replacement and think he's a hold for now. :2cents:

I get to start 2 DBs from:

Michael Boulware v ARI

Bob Sanders v HOU

Terrance Kiel v TEN

Shaun Williams @MIN

So I checked FBG projections and oddly enough they each project to 5 points this week in our scoring system (1 pt UT, 2 pts Sack, 2 pts Int, 6 pts TD).

I am a little concerned that Boulware isn't quite back to speed after the offseason knee surgery and he only got me two points last week, so I can probably bench him.

San Diego should destroy Tennessee so maybe I should bench Kiel as SD should be able to run a lot of clock with LT.

That leaves me with Sanders and Williams. Sanders has been a beast but was nicked up in practice this week and Williams gets an upgrade with Morgan OUT.

Does anyone has a different perspective that might change my mind? Should it be Williams/Boulware? Williams/Sanders? Sanders/Boulware?

My dilema is this, I'm in an IDP league and am carrying the following people:

DB: Polamalu (Pit@Jax), Tilman (Chi-Det) Madieu Williams (Cin-Cle) and Roman Harper (NO@GB)

LB: K. Mitchell (KC@Den), W. Witherspoon (StL@SF), M. Peterson (Jax-Pit), J. Ulbrich (SF-StL) and B. Bailey (Det@Chi)

I have to start 3 DB's, 2 LB's and one Flex player. Points are: Solo 2, Asst .5, Sack 2, Int 2, PassDef 1, FF 2, FR 1, TD 6, Safe 2, and Blk kick 2.

FBG has downgraded Polamalu this week way below Harper, but my heart (I'm a Steeler homer) and Yahoo are saying the opposite, and I can't find any reasoning for the downgrade. Do they know something I don't or is it becuase of his injury (which doesn't look like it will keep him out)?

My gut is telling me to start Polamalu, Tillman & Williams @ DB, Witherspoon & Mitchell @ LB and Peterson at Flex, but FBG is telling me to replace Polamalu with Harper.

Can someone provide me some insight? PLEASE?

:wall:

I like the lineup you are thinking of. I honestly think Polamalu will be more active in run support than Harper because I think GB v NO will be a shootout, not a grind out game.

High my league starts 3 linemen,4lbs2safeties and 2 corners

1 point for every tackle,7 sack,15 int,20 td,5 ff,3 fr .... Tackle bonus of 5 for lbs getting 10,linemen getting 6 , dbs getting 8... sack bonus of 5 for 2 sacks, 5 bonus points for 2 picks....

Derrik Burgess,Terrell Suggs,K Udeze

Will Witherspoon,Merrimen,Brackett,Julian Peterson,Adam Sewyard,Morlon Greenwood,Kmeron Wimbley

Kerry Rhodes,Gibril Wilson

Antonie Winfield,Shelton Brown,Fakir Brown

Ok I picked up Hali like you said.. But then I ended up dropping him for Trent Cole who now has 4 sacks and kearse is hurt.. Cole looks very good..... Also picked up Sean Jones he had 14 tackles today and he had a pick last week..... Picked up best available..... I actually dropped Fakir Brown and will try to replace Shelton Brown for a better corner...
