Week 2 Waiver Wire Gem (1 Viewer)

Knile Davis. Reid realizes that he needs Charles for the long haul and Knile mixes in enough snaps and catches 4 passes for 40 yds from the king of checkdowns with about 30 yds rushing and a TD. Enough to warrant flex appeal and some waiver wire love.

thoughts on Richard Rodgers, rookie TE from GB? That's my claim.

i know TE is a tough position to learn, but the kid is starting tonight. The starting TE in a good offense has got to be worth something, right?
Does your league give points for blocking?

I'll say Marqise Lee. Henne doesn't push the ball down the field with any consistency or regularity. I think this benefits Lee underneath.

This thread is hilarious!

69 posts of waiver wire pickups and only one NFL game played.

I'm all for taking stabs in the dark, for a lot of this hobby is about that, but maybe the thread should be named "preemptive week 2 waiver wire gems" to differentiate it from the week 2 waiver wire pickups based on actual information.

I'm throwing Jonathan Stewart into the thread. He should be waiver wire for most leagues unless you've got deep benches or more than 12 teams. With Cam already hurting, I think Stewart could get more carries and seems to be ahead of Tolbert for goal line looks.

Unfortunately, I drafted Ellington, so if worse news is released, I may even pick him up for my bench before tomorrow. ( our league allows for an IR spot I can put Ellington on)

Mike Williams could have a big game. He's the most experienced wr on the team and they've been raving about him.

Let's go by position:

Qb: locker or McCown

Rb: Bennie Cunningham?

Wr: I'm thinking one of the jax rookies (lee, hurns, robinson), maybe Brian quick?

Te: Travis kelce,

I actually like it that way. If I have some trash I like seeing if there is a trend of high expectations for someone I could pick up and hold or flip come Tuesday. I get that there are a ton of people throwing names up just to say, "I said it first," but that makes no difference to me. Sometimes someone makes a valid argument with reasoning.

If my team is stable sometimes I don't touch this thread until Monday/Tuesday.

Ladarius Green
How is he not on a roster?
Very easily. I can definitely see with a 12 team, short bench league, he wouldn't be on a roster. Especially with just one catch in the final month of the season.

West maybe Crowell depending on Tate's injury
Crowell with 2 TDs already... didn't have the roster room this week and was hoping to snag him off the wire before Tate got hurt.
Wow...I'm going to have to think hard about NOT bidding the majority of my FAAB dollars on Crowell this coming week.

With Shorts out, Allen Hurns looking good to make some noise in Week 1.
An understatement on my part.

Would appear to be the top WW pickup in dynasty leagues, and near the top in redraft.

I don't buy the Ogletree analogy some are throwing out as Ogletree had been around awhile and had done nothing before that apparent Week 1 breakout to distinguish himself. I think a better comparison would be Marques Colston, an unheralded 7th round pick who turned heads in preseason and kept it up once the real games started and never looked back.

Hurns could be a flash in the pan, but is worth rolling the dice in any league format.

I have a feeling that if Tate misses time, FBG will pimp Crowell like there's no tomorrow, while West proceeds to get the bulk of the backfield work.

both crowell and west looked pretty damn good. fwiw, i wouldnt say that crowell vultured. he scored from kinda far out on both carries.

What's with the Ogletree comp? I don't recall Ogletree blowing up in preseason or ever looking like anything more than an afterthought in the offense.

He had a huge week one once. Three TD's I think. Or a few deep balls. Or something like that.

Ogletree had a huge game week 1 two years ago, everyone went nuts over him, and he ended up on waiver wires a few weeks later.

yea but he was the #3 WR... Allen Hurns is a rookie, it was his first career game, he looked great in pre-season.. and is on a team where the only proven WR stays hurt... not to mention he already knows the playbook because it is the same coach that he had in college...

he has a Keenan Allen type of opportunity to have a huge Rookie year... "don't sleep on Allen Hurns" - Toby Gerrhart

I like the Rodgers pick - GB had to go with Quarles considering the D they were facing. I expect Rodgers to make a splash soon.

The good news: I had the foresight to pick up a Jax WR before the game started.

The bad news: It was Marqise Lee. :wall:

In the meantime, I'll throw out Lee's old college teammate: Robert Woods. Many people (myself included) had been assuming that Williams was the sleeper Buffalo WR to own, but he did nothing today. Watkins is still banged up. Woods was Manuel's No. 1 target, and he might have even more value if Orton gets the job.

My rule with WW pickups is to chase situations, not stats. Hurns may be the real deal, but he's still dealing with a crowd at WR. Woods' potential emergence as WR1 seems more significant.

Don't forget about Brandon Bostick who could return this week and is their most accomplished receiving TE by most reports...
