Week 2 Waiver Wire Gem (1 Viewer)

With Shorts out, Allen Hurns looking good to make some noise in Week 1.
An understatement on my part.

Would appear to be the top WW pickup in dynasty leagues, and near the top in redraft.

I don't buy the Ogletree analogy some are throwing out as Ogletree had been around awhile and had done nothing before that apparent Week 1 breakout to distinguish himself. I think a better comparison would be Marques Colston, an unheralded 7th round pick who turned heads in preseason and kept it up once the real games started and never looked back.

Hurns could be a flash in the pan, but is worth rolling the dice in any league format.
didn't stephen hill have 2 td in his first game?

Yes.

So did Anquan Boldin and Randy Moss.

Neither of them have any relevance either.

Since this has clearly morphed from a prediction thread into an actual week 2 thread, I'll offer a big one:

Gresham.

With Eifert looking like he's got a dislocated elbow Gresh is definitely going to get a bump in targets.

Side note for those in super-deep leagues Brandon Tate actually got a couple of looks in key spots for the Bengals today. Converted a first down and got a red-zone look. So if you're in a 16-teamer where the waiver wire is thin he might be a poke and hope type guy. Won't be long-term though as he's surely back to the bench when Marvin Jones returns.

Marvin Jones is also a great pickup if he was dropped and you have space. Last thing I read said he's still eyeing a week 5 return, and he going to try to start running within about a week. Dr. Jene was a little skeptical on returning so fast, but maybe everything is going to fall right.

Locker and Geno at QB - both looked great (compared to popular perception) and both will add rushing yards on a weekly basis.

Cleveland RB once we hear about Tate. McCluster with some interesting usage in Tennessee. Potentially Rainey when we hear about Martin.

Boykin, Hester, Brian Quick, Hurns, and Robert Woods at WR are options.

Jeff Cumberland is an athletic freak who should be good for at least 3-4 catches per game for 40+ yards and some TDs if Geno Smlth is gonna show this much tangible growth from year 1 to year 2. Only thing holding Cumberland back from being a low-end TE1 (in my opinion) has been absolute putrid QB play since the day he arrived in NY. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Cumberland would be Julius Thomas if Cumberland played in Denver with Peyton. Just look up his measurables (size, speed, etc)

Fair point, but those are more the exception than the rule. Still, if you have room for them and would only cost you some schlub, why not take a chance.

Crowell would have had 3 TDs , but Hoyer turned the wrong way on a play from the 4.

Crowell would have scored, and the Browns probably win the game and Crowell becomes the rock star pick up of week one.

That handoff was going to Agnew. Unless you are arguing that Agnew picks up a yard or two for the first down and then Crowell finishes on the next play.

I'm not sure if it was plan or coincidence that Crowell got the RZ carries. West did score about 300 TD's in college so he certainly knows his way to the end zone. Either way, both looked very good.

Bradshaw or Forsett?

Bradshaw looked better than Richardson, and a healthy Bradshaw is a really good football player (Giant fan here)

Forsett also looked stronger, I owned him years ago in Seattle - never got the time, looks like he gained some weight and is a good pass catcher as well.

Pending a stronger suspension of Rice, he may be the go-to guy for another 4-5 games

Any thoughts? Bradshaw or Forsett

I would agree that Bradshaw looked like the better player. That said, for some reason teams aren't willing to give up on Richardson

I like Bradshaw, especially in PPR.

Richardson once again showed little vision and middling talent last night, while Bradshaw was running hard and was a serious threat out of the backfield.

I'll go Crowell. If Tate is out long term, I think he works his way into 50% of the touches.

West looked good -- very consistent. Crowell looked better -- thought he looked significantly more explosive.

For some reason? They just gave up 1st round pick for him and he hasn't even played 16 games for them yet

Sounds like someone drafted Richardson this year.

Forsett.

Pierece was terrible, Forsett was not. You're also considering that the Ravens may be without Rice longer than previously thought.

Agree he should be out longer, but given that the facts of the case haven't changed at all and that something like 2/3rds of the league has players who were charged with domestic abuse or assault it would be very surprising (and would certainly draw a legal challenge) for the NFL to go back and increase Rice's punishment.

Josh Gordon worth a WW pickup this week?
While I have my doubts we will see Gordon play this season, if you have room, why not drop that schlub at the end of your bench for one of the premiere playmakers in the league? We should know in relatively short order if there is any value to holding onto Gordon.

If they find that rice lied about what happend inside the elevator then the NFL could change its ruling. You can't tell me that the NFL didn't ask for that footage. No idea why it is coming out now, but if he lied then goodell would be pressured to change his ruling.

Who are you guys willing to use your WW priority on if in need of RB?

Forsett

West

Crowell

Bradshaw

anyone else?
If Tate is out, probably West. Seems like the safest for carries/opportunities.

If Rice ends up being cut or suspended longer, Forsett is probably a good pickup.

I like Bradshaw the best - he looked really good last night, and is probably the most sure pick out of everyone on that list.
Given Richardson's struggles and Bradshaw's injury history, might not be a bad idea to look a step further at Dan Herron if you have room.

He did only touch the ball 5 times? TDs are a crap shoot, I rather have the guy who gets more opportunity.

While TDs are the name of the game, I would wait to see if its constant before I pick him over West.

I would agree that West is probably the next man up, but no telling how the team would allocate the carries if Tate is out. If West struggles or gets hurt, then it could be Crowell's turn.

Bottom line is that if you wait, you may miss out. Stash and hold.

if he's available, take him. Would you rather have the potential of a stud WR1 versus a possession-based WR5/6 on your roster?
I have the #1 WW claim, so I would prefer to not use it in Week 1 on a guy that may or may not play again. But it's certainly tempting.
If Gordon somehow is availble in your league grab him up asap and quit talking dumb... please

West, I hate to be Redundant but I think he is this years Doug Martin,Zac Stacy. Been saying this months before the NFL draft the kid has all the tools and Tate gets hurt playing Touch... Guy gets a knee inj everytime he out there repeatedly well documented even in college. He was banged up last year and was Foster's Back up LMAO that should tell you something.

What about Taliaferro? It sounds like Forsett looked good, but could it be the rookie instead?
I think you get Forsett this week, and use your best judgement who to get/keep next week. Tali didn't get any touches in week 1, so it's more of a reach (he did get 20+ last pre-season game). Forsett produced tangible results, but if we see the rookie get looks and he shows promise, should still be easy to get after next week.

Honestly, both guys largely depend on Rice not playing for awhile. If his two games do not go up, their value drops off in a big way for week 3 onward.

In PPR leagues two pickups worth considering:

1. Andrew Hawkins-Dude had 10 targets and 8 catches for 87 yards. I know people in FAAB leagues will want to go big on Allen Hurns, I get it, but I'll spend 1/3 the money and get someone with twice as many catches. He's the only decent WR for Hoyer to throw to and could easily top 80 catches this year, maybe 100.

2. Donnie Avery-Someone has to catch passes in KC. Avery was targeted 13 times. Yes, the Chiefs were playing catch up, but my gut says they might be playing catch up a lot this year. He's another solid bye week guy in PPR scoring.

ETA: RAY RICE JUST GOT RELEASED

Avery's targets will decrease with Bowe back

Great call. I'm looking at him myself in dynasty.

May be worth stashing Taliaferro in deeper/TD heavy leagues if Pierce becomes an afterthought and BAL still wants a power back to compliment Forsett.

Harbaugh gonna go back to Pierce and Forsett's been in the league long enough and has never really shown long term sustainability as a starter. I wouldn't waste too much of my FAAB on him personally.

Ingram, Forsett, Crowell in that order for me.

Forsett, for sure.

If Pierce was that good, and the Ravens were that sold on him, I find it hard to believe that one fumble would lead to a complete and sudden benching.

Pierce tops my list of FBG/Shark Pool darling that falls flat on his face.

But the real winners are the folks who drafted T & S Smith and Pita. Won't be the last time Flacco chucks it 60+ times in a game.
