Week 2 - What have we learned from the young season? (1 Viewer)

- LT is starting to worry me. No way I bench him or anything but he has not been strong at all.

- I realize the Chargers were pretty banged up after going toe to toe with the bears the week prior and then had to fly from one corner to the other and the Patriots had a chip on their shoulder the size of a 6X6, but what the hell was that? Pathetic.

- The more I see of the Texans the more I like. But what happens if Andre misses significant time? I do believe they found the perfect use for Ron Dayne. Big lead, stuff Dayne down the throats if the defense. Good for the Texans, bad for Green owners who won't see many 4th quarter garbage yards.

- Was that the real Drew Brees in the second half on Sunday?

- Lamont Jordan 2007 is similar to Frank Gore 2006. I don't think he will put up the same numbers as Gore, but he was taken late in most leagues (or cheap in the survivor contest) and is putting up top 10 numbers. Will that change when Rhodes comes back? I don't think so.

- After the Cinci D saved me on Monday night last week, I figured they were a slam dunk for major points against the hapless Browns. :bag:

- Speaking of the Browns and all you guys that are making mad dashes for their new QB, realize the Browns play @ Oak, Balt, @ NE, and Miami over the the next 4 weeks. After that we may see the kid.

- I'll say it again, what was that big argument about who is better, MJD or Drew? Doesn't look like either of them, for whatever reasons, are doing anything to settle the debate. Horrendous.

- A coach gets a 5 game suspension for taking HGH. What edge is that giving his team? Does it make the clip board lighter? A coach is found guilty of stealing signs and he doesn't get suspended? Rumors of a second camera are just the league trying to save face here and up the punishment because by comparison there is no comparison. Even a player taking Roids would only get 4 games.

- Speaking of Bellicheat. Anyone see some of the press conferences when he was questioned about it? He deflected everything and said he was only going to discuss the Chargers. One question cracked me up. One guy asked if he had to pay the $500K in a lump sum or if he could pay in installments. BB almost cracked a smile and then deflected again. I thought it was funny anyway.

- Greatest show on Turf part two? How about you go blow smurf won't you? The Rams are bad. If you are a Jackson owner, Linehan hates you. He has more faith in Wilkens hitting a 56 yarder than SJax getting 2 yards and a first down? :lmao:

- Speaking of Wilkens, he nails a 50+ yarder that would've gone through from 60+ and then doinks one off the cross bar from 56?

What has everyone else come up with after week 2?

I wouldn't worry about LT --- when he gets away from the stronger playoff teams he'll start producing.

I wonder if people are actually trading him after 2 weeks.

All Randy Moss needs is a desire to play and a good QB, and he's unstoppable. Clearly he suffered from the lack of both in Oakland.

As always fanatic, love the thread.

-Watch out for the Saints. I said it in preseason, and I will say it again. They will not repeat their offensive numbers from last year. Teams have film on them and have learned how to beat them. They will not be sneaking up on anyone this year.

-I'm still a believer in LJ, it's just his team stinks!

-The other LJ (Lamont Jordan) is the SOD so far, I think that he will keep in up, but I really will be watching to see how Rhodes will affect his playing time (if at all).

-The Texans are an improving football team, watch out (Did I just say that).

-WR scoring seems to be up this year or is it just me?

-What has happened to the first 2 consensus picks? LT and SJackson are not playing any where near their capabilites. I realize LT played 2 top defenses, so maybe you might be able to get him cheap: shrug:

-Rex Grossman is a bad QB (and I have been a believer), it's time for Griese.

-I hate having a deep bench in fantasy, it makes my lineups decisions harder. Got to love those bench points!

-I don't beleive that was the Browns on Sunday. It had to be the Chargers or something, they might have switched and told no one.

-What happened to Chris Brown? 175 yards in week one then only 12 carries in week 2? L.White must have some dirty pics of Fisher with a cheerleader or something.

-Detroit needs Kitna to stay healthly.

-The NFC North will be more competitive than people think.

The Rams refuse to give the ball to Steven Jackson in the 4th quarter of games.

Week 1- Fumbled twice but the Rams are still only down 1 point with 23 minutes to play-- SJAX gets 2 carries in 23 minutes.

Week 2- Up for a portion of the 2nd half and with 27 minutes left in the game and a 13 to 7 lead Steven Jackson proceeds to get only 7 carries.

ONLY 7 carries in the final 27 minutes of a game they were leading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the week before ONLY 2 carries when down by 1 point with 23 minutes to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't stress this enough but it seems as if the Rams coaching staff are finding ways to take their best player out of the game. They did this the 1st 5 weeks last year, then they figured it out and changed game plans. SJAX went on to have a great year, but now they are back to their old tricks.

You will not win a game when you expect Bulger to throw 40 + times. You open yourself up to him throwing picks, getting sacked, etc.

Andre Johnson is on his way to a career year, and that David Carr was the problem. now let's see how serious the injury is.

Randy Moss aint done just yet. Brady career year, possible 30+ TDs.

Calvin is on his way to 70-1100-9 season at least.

Norwood is one of the most overrated backs going into this year.

One for each team

- That I was right about Moss (had him projected #2 WR)

- That Coles and Cotchery were steals

- That Ronnie Brown will be a huge bust

- That Lee Evans will be inconsistent like usual. But owners shouldnt overreact

- That Pitt is still a running team

- That Boeller > McNair and McGahee is gonna be a solid RB1

- That Derek Anderson is a good QB

- That Cincy's oline problems dont matter much

- That Schaub > Carr

- That Vince Young helps the TEN running game like Vick did in ATL

- That Wayne & Harrison are both top 5 WRs

- That JAX does not have the same running game as last year (not sure why)

- That Jordan is actually good when he has a good coaching staff to use him right

- That Henry is a top 10 RB like many predicted

- That KC sucks and LJ is in for a rough year, (but many of us predicted that already)

- That Rivers is still a young QB and will struggle vs top defenses

- That Eli may have taken the leap & that the Giants have a horrendous defense

- That McNabb may need some time to shake off the rust

- That Portis will be a monster this year

- That Dallas is a top3 offense and Barber is > Jones

- That the Lions are gonna be fun to watch this year

- That it could be a long year for Grossman

- That GB's defense is good and their running game sucks

- That MIN is a top 5 def and that Peterson will struggle in a lot of games this year due to Jackson

- That Delhomme couldve been a steal

- That there is something wrong in New Orleans

- That Cadillac could be a steal without a goalline vulture

- That while Vick may not have been the prettiest QB statwise he won games. ATL could be 2-0 with him.

- That STL looks like it could be a disaster in the making offensively

- That Alex Smith is not ready to take the leap

- That this isnt the offensive juggernaut passing team of the past in SEA

- That Edge will be a solid RB2/1 all year while the value of Fitz and Boldin has plummeted

- Greatest show on Turf part two? How about you go blow smurf won't you?
LOFLSomething isnt right in Jacksonville. I think it has more to do with the new off coordinator than it does Leftwich leaving. But you have to score more than 13 points against the Titans and Falcons.GB is very intriguing. They lack a solid running game but everything else is there. Their matchup at home against SD has me very interested. It will stink if Andre Johnson misses any time. I think he finally had a QB that could showcase his rare talent.Start all your players against Cincy and Cle, as if that wasn’t already obvious. Browns have given up 10 passing TDs in 2 games. Curry could be huge this week (i try to work a Curry reference into every one of my posts). The Edge still has a lot of gas left in the tank. As does Joey Galloway.I like this thread each week.. Thanks Fanatic.

I think the main lesson this year is that it is rediculously stupid to take RBBC backs that aren't even starters like Bush or MJD in the first round or early second round. It always was though... Sorry to those of you who bought the snake oil.

Herm Edwards and Mike Solari are the WORST play callers I have ever witnessed in my entire life!!! How in (fill in the blank) does KC throw a fade pattern to Samie Parker (all 5"11 of him) on 3rd and 1 when you have a beast in LJ???? Needless to say, the ball was picked off b/c everyone knows that Parker will not outjump anyone....atleast throw Webb or Bowe there (both over 6"2).

I thought the same way with many predictions, including that AJ will be a top 5 WR in 2007 with Shaub, that N.O. was a smoke-n-mirrors team headed for a 7-9 or 6-10 season, that Edge had a lot left, and will finish as a top 10 RB , that Caddy IS a first class bust, and his effort yesterday proved it ( 19-51?)..I thought St Louis would fall apart long before Pace's injury, I'm with you on that! I disagree on Portis, he'll break down at some point..I think McNabb will be so/so this season, nothing special, LJ will have it tough the first 5/6 weeks, then its a walk in the park, and Herm's teams always do well in nov-dec...I like KC the 2nd half of '07..I also LOVED Welker this season! correctly pegged Bush as perhaps the most overrated player. eric metcalf, v2.0..Also looks to me like that leap to WR1 for S. Holmes, might not happen till 2008..I think I' might've pegged Brandon Jacobs correctly, dude looked terrible...big guys like him, don't run the ball well in the NFL..Ward might have a lock on that spot.

- Sammy Morris is a tough/solid player that brings too much to the table for Maroney to live up to his draft slot.

- as much as Brady clearly loves Moss, I think he feels similarly about Welker.

- Coughlin has completely lost the Giants. He might as well write "SCAPEGOAT" across his forehead now and get his bags packed. Cowher next year?

- Mangini has a difficult decision on his hands as it was refreshing to see footballs being thrown on a line from Clemens.

- Joey Galloway can still BURN. And he is never on any of my teams.

- Braylon and Winslow have arguably have as much talent as any 2 receivers on 1 team. It will be nice if each keeps his head on straight.

- Holmgren said he would get Branch more involved and it happened. I feel better about Branch now, considering he's on 2 of my 3 teams.

- the HD Red Zone Channel on DirecTV is freaking AWESOME.

- Marion Barber has what it takes. Great vision, great burst. What kind of numbers could this guy put up if he was an everydown back?

For the first time in 10 yrs I bought into the hype (MJD) and am now regretting it. That's why most of the time I go with my gut over last years stats. Part time or not he was top 10 in our PPR league.

I wouldn't worry about LT --- when he gets away from the stronger playoff teams he'll start producing.I wonder if people are actually trading him after 2 weeks.
Just got L.J. and D. Foster for Benson and L.Jordon. The owner hit the panic button @ 0-2 with Minny D up next week.

I learned in week two the same thing I learned in week one which was also the same thing I learned all last season... Marion Barber is STILL better than Julius Jones! It will also be the same thing I learn in week three.

This is the year of the WR and not RB.

Too many RBs in 1st round projections are bombing and bombing big.

Coaching changes have a very very big impact ( SF, SD = bad AZ, Pit = good )

FF is a crap shoot, some people are just good at shooting crap

Take a TE early if you have too, most of them suck balls outside a few.

Madden Curse is real..fear it

player wise

Clemens will be a good QB & the starter if those WRs at the end of the game could catch

Norv Turner sucks

SD's GM has to be in hiding

Steve Smith is a god

Brown wasn't very effective with his touches this week. White actually looked better IMO.Owners who drafted both need someone to get injured or else it's going to be a committee all year. Brown did get a little dinged and limped off the field on one play, but it wasn't serious.

I seem to recall similar things being said last year (or the year before), but at the end of the day, when the weather gets colder, RBs will put up the numbers and just about all WRs outside of the top-tier will come back down to earth.

I think I read somewhere that the Titans will use whatever back fits the D. Indy softer up the middle and thus they pounded Lendale. Jags softer on the outside so they went with Brown. Gonna be a long season for the Titan RB owners if these guys are to be relied on for more than spot/bye week duty.

- I'm buying the Bengals passing game. This team has a suspect defense and an unspectacular ground game. They'll be throwing the ball a ton this season. Palmer should be a monster. Chris Henry's absence is having a huge positive effect on CJ and Housh because those guys are absorbing all of his lost production. Chad should have his best season as a pro and possibly contend for the WR1 ranking. If you have the depth needed to make a deal for Palmer or CJ, pull the trigger.

- The LenDale White haters need to eat their crow. He's not the next LJ, but he's basically what I thought he was: a Stephen Davis type who can grind out the yards and help his team win. This is yet another example of why you don't write off a RB just because he fails to become an instant star.

- Lynch and Peterson are both the real deal, but their weak supporting casts will probably relegate them to RB2-RB3 status in most formats. Both guys are solid long-term acquisitions in a dynasty league.

Also

No matter how much i ##### each year to my league before the season starts, they will never go with a flex or 3rd WR spot.

(as you can tell by my sig, i would be doing really well with a 3rd wr / flex spot ;) )

Minn D will not score this many points each week ( although one can hope )

Randy Moss really hated playing in Oakland.

I thought Harrington would be good in ATL.

Bought into the Norwood hype

Thought Bell would be better

Didn't think AP would be this good this early

Didn't buy into MJD hype

Surprised at N.O.

Leftwich pee'd in someones cherrios to not have a job yet

Giants are 0-3 in my Madden franchise along with KC.

1. The QB playing against the NY Giants if Fantasy Gold :goodposting:

2. Bench your Saints until they prove otherwise. :hophead:

3. Start the TEAM DEF playing against Atlanta. :excited:

4. Oakland is no longer the fantasy wasteland, the team with no players worth starting regularly in a 10/12 team league. That title now belongs to the Atlanta Falcons.

5. Between Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, and Terrell Owens -- one of those three players will have a 20 TD year. :boxing:

And this isn't really much of a prediction, but I think it's only a matter of time until Santonio Holmes explodes for a monster game. My impression of him is that he has the "it" factor and that he's going to be a very good NFL WR if he keeps his head on straight.

- The raiders are not as bad as many have predicted.

- The saints are in trouble. They need to quit trying to force the ball to Bush and let Deuce rumble.

- Denver can shut down any WR in the league with Champ and Dre' Bly - Pick your poison.

- KC is horrible and it has nothing to do with the players ability.

- Couglin should have been fired after last year with the Giants.

- Moss is back and is a GOD.

- Chad Johnson has got guts to jump into the Dog Pound. He is luck he didn't get hurt.

I also think he spoke to the one guy he jumped to before the game and he seemed cool with it but if you watch the video there are other fans around him acting like jerks.

Unless things change soon, it's going to be a looooong autumn for New York football - with no option to watch other games without the NFL package. :hophead:

**That whether you believe J. Kitna or not about predicting the Lions would win 10 games, he's going to try his #### off in getting it.

**That that NFC has no shot at winning the SB this year

**The Rushing Title is going to be wide open this year

**Folk is going to score more points than most other folks in the league

**Green Bay may challenge Chicago for the conference

**Tony Romo isn't a fluke, he's actually pretty good

**Calvin Johnson still has a lot to learn but his athleticism and size will be enough to earn rookie of the year as long as Kitna doesn't get injured

:goodposting: Not sure who got the better end of that deal

Tony Romo is the truth (and deserves his money Jerry...after Sunday night preferably)

Steve Smith is back

Kyle Boller is better than Steve Mcnair

Matt Schaub is better than David Carr

Tom Brady has 12 incompletions in 8 quarters of football and completing 80% of his passes :excited: (and yes I drafted him in all of my leagues)

Lamont Jordan has to be the ultimate bargain/sleeper of the year so far.

Jamal Lewis has something left in the tank.

GreenBay Defense is pretty damn tough, especially their secondary of Al Harris and Charles Woodson.

Minnesota has the worst QB in the league (with apologies to Rex). AD and Taylor will see 8 man fronts all year limiting their productivity and FF value.

As a result I still expect them both to play as well as some touches for Moore who is a decent pass catching 3rd down back. Bottom line is move AD while you can. I pulled the trigger today (AD and C. Johnson for Rudi)

we learned that the chargers are coming up on 9 straight wins against the pats.....
Huh?
before the game LT said that if these teams played 10x that the chargers would win 9.I'll just assume he's starting the count after last year's playoffs.
Oh....Classic. I didn't hear that quote. Hopefully he's pissed off next week at that embarrassment and runs all over GB. Heck I would just love to see 50-60 yards rushing in one game right now....

Only watched a couple games this season, so fwiw...

-Rex Grossman would be a fine QB if he were taller, unfortunately for Rex, he and Bilbo Baggins share a common trait. If he could scramble(may be the slowest QB in the league) and/or move around in the pocket, the lack of height wouldn't be a huge issue, but as it stands, he only looks comfortable chucking the rock from the shot-gun formation. When given time/space to throw, more often than not he will hit his point, but the Bears blocking appears to be suspect this season, and Grossman simply cannot create the additional time/space that a short QB needs. Unless Grossman is the best of bad lot of QB's in Chicago(which I fear may be the case, although I'd like to see if Orton has improved since '05), I hope Lovie makes the change before the Cowboys game.

- The show Jamal Williams and Tommie Harris put on was worth the price of admission. You want to know why the SD and CHI defense dominate more often than not? It starts with these two...

- D'Wayne Bowe has a little TO(the aspects of TO we all like) in him, if the Chiefs take a chance on a Woodsen/Brohm next season and it works out, Bowe will be a top 10 fantasy WR before long.

- Any coach who kicks/punts to Devin Hester is a moron. When given a 10-15 yard cushion, you may as well tell your special teams unit to run backwards. After Tommie Harris/Lance Briggs/Brian Urlacher, Devin Hester is the most crucial component to the Bears success. Seriously Herm Edwards, put your ego in check and tell the kicker/punter to aim for the stands.

:stirspot: Calvin? Or Chad? Either way its a bad trade for you

that drafting a qb early not named carson or peyton is just dumb (ok maybe brady wasnt so bad....)

that Devin Hester is a game changer for the bears d/st (ok we knew that)
