Week 3 Fantasy Observations from the locals... (1 Viewer)

I thought it might be nice to get some info from those that watch the games seeing as how we mostly just get our local affiliates and put it all in one place.

My thoughts from the Packers/Cardinals...

-If DD or Jennings go out, James Jones or Jordy Nelson (whoever gets the nod) will be very servicable.

-Ryan Grant is running a lot harder it seems.

-Sutton may end up as the third down back in GB.

-Finley, as many have seen, is a very tough matchup for defenses.

-Warner looked better than the stats showed as he had some drops do him in. Also, no Boldin or Breaston didn't help.

-Beanie Wells looked real good.

Leon Washington is in for big uptick in touches, t jones not worth his adp. bradshaw can win you you league if u get lucky, one of the most determined runners ive ever seen. sanchez is very slippery in the pocket, he stalls for time and makes plays, jets look legit

this could be a great thread for those of us drafting tomorrow...please continue........

I believe Jalen Parmele will make the Ravens roster over Cedric Peerman after a solid showing tonight. Peerman still hasn't got a touch this preseason yet.

James Davis will replace Jamal Lewis as the Browns starter at some point this season.
Here here! (or is that Hear Hear! ?)Was indeed impressed with Davis tonight...From the NFL.com Box score:Davis displays dynamic ability: The Browns may have scored with sixth-round pick James Davis, who was the 15th running back taken in the draft when Cleveland selected him with the 195th overall pick. A down senior season at Clemson hurt his draft status, but Davis' preseason efforts may earn the rookie a prominent role in the Browns offense spelling starter Jamal Lewis, whose age brings up potential durability concerns. Davis touched the ball nine times (five rushes, four receptions), totaling 55 yards. That effort came off a 116-yard rushing game against the Lions last week.

Peyton to Dallas Clark early and often. Addai and Brown both look fast and elusive, dead even, 50-50 split is a real possibility. Curtis Painter is an NFL caliber QB. WR corps is deep. Colts D does not look good at all, what's new?

I think Kevin Smith RB, Lions is in for a very good year. Swing/Screen Passes galore + running very hard. Would not be surpirsed if he finished top 10.

how does the colts OLine look? What is the status of the LT - I remember reading that Ugoh lost the job, but I'm not sure that ever materialized.

They are getting better. Charlie Johnson is now playing LT. He is a much better in run blocking than pass blocking. Ugoh is huge but kinda soft. This is a signal of the Colts desire to improve the run game.

Both C. Pepper and Stafford both are playing decent football. I think whomever starts Week 1 will offer some value as they play the Saints and should be a relatively high scoring game.

Kevin Smith also looks solid. He's running hard and definately can run a quality screen play. I think the new coach likes to run the football and I'd be surprised after seeing Smith in preseason if he didn't improve off a decent rookie season.

Calvin Johnson is definately a true freak. He could be the best wide receiver in football this year, we'll see how the QB's hold up for Detroit, but so far I think the competition at QB in Detroit is a positive thing.

Detroit's other first round pick, TE Pettigrew is also going to be a good player. I don't think he's a fantasy threat at this point, but he's getting down field on his routes and attacking the defenses. He's shown he's got decent hands and most importantly at least for the Lions, he's blocking well. They showed him moving around 300 pound defensive linemen and driving the defense back on run plays.

Hasselbeck, Burleson and Carlson are all great values at their current ADP.

Gotta say the Seattle D could end up being a nice bargain as well.

For you IDPers: Josh Wilson will be resuming his return duties once the regular season starts.

Dallas Clark may lead the Colts in catches this year!

Addai will be on a lot of championship rosters. 70-30 split expected.

Colts may look more like 2004 team. Manning has been crisp and the Colts will use more 3/4 WR sets.

Marion Barber is overvalued, Felix Jones is undervalued. Last year Barber had 135 touches to Jones 32 in the first 6 games of the season (before Jones was injured missing the rest of the season). This is an 81/19 ratio in terms of touches/distribution between the two of them. I'm confident it will be about 60/40 in favor of Barber this year with choice spelling Barber for maybe 4-5 carries a game. Jones has also been in several goaline packages this year scoring a few TD's.

This just in, Panthers rookie RB Mike Goodson can do everything. The guy will be utilized with or without Jonathan Stewart, beginning week one. Oh yeah, he returns kicks too.

The Panthers will be in a ton of shootouts if the situation remains the same. No defense to speak of but the offense with the addition of Goodson should be off the charts. I would bump up SSmith and down DWill just a touch because I think the Panthers will have to throw a lot more than last year and it seems that Goodson is better on passing downs now. I still think Dwill has an off the charts year though.

Own AFC W RBs. Oakland looks like the '08 Lions. Chiefs and Broncos Ds are not a whole lot better. LT will be a monster. Moreno will be good and Hillis may be usable. LJ could have some good games despite his poor line and McFadden will be useful in at least 4 games.

Steeler passing game is underrated. Running game is overrated. With an improved special teams, the Pitt D may be an early favorite for #1 defense without the benefit of playing Cleveland twice.

Marko Mitchel is worth a spot in a deep dynasty or a taxi squad spot.
Let's talk more about Mitchell. Can he be the next Marques Colston? He has a fairly good chance to emerge if he continues to play the way he has thru the preseason. WAS really doesn't have a receiving threat after S.Moss and Cooley. He has three of the four characteristics needed to succeed as an out of nowhere emerging WR . 1 Skill 2 Opportunity 3 intelligence 4 being QB (which he doesn't exactly have)He's definitely someone to target as a late round pick in larger redraft leagues. No risk, high reward.

S-Jax will be a disappointment. The Rams are going to be very bad this year.

2 bright spots might be Randy McMichael and Laurent Robinson.

They are both going to see alot of targets.

I do think the Rams might be a defense later in the year that you can get some value out of. I think the team is buyng into Spags and is on the right track. I just think they are missing the talent to be players right now. I'm definetly excited though for the future.

I don't think he really has the opportunity right now. Almost all of his work has come in the 2nd half of games in the preseason. I don't think Washington is considering him as a starter at this point. He's someone to watch next year or this year if a rash of injuries hit the Redskins' WRs.

If possible, can you please offer more detail on this? Do you see them leading the Rams in total targets or just getting a lot? Where does Avery fall in the mix? Thanks.

I really like a healthy Avery but a burner with hurt hammy's in the preseason aren't a good thing for those type of guys.Even when healthy I see Avery as a four to five target guy with big play potential.

I see Robinson as the possession guy and endzone target. Randy McMichael is gonna see the ball this year. I wouldn't be shocked if he is second [behind Robinson] on the team in targets. He is a huge sleeper that is getting overlooked in redrafts.
