Week 4 drunken observations (1 Viewer)

Now that week 4 is almost complete. What are the biggest suprises/changes from your preseason expectations and now?

Some of mine:

I may be wrong about the decline of RB performance after age 30. I thought this was a myth because of recent performances of 31 year old RB.

So far Jamal Lewis, Brian Westbrook and LT are making that age 30 look a lot less mythical. :lmao:

Anyhow.. one of my biggest convictions of the offseason seems to be wrong. I evaluated the information objectivly and thought the odds were in my favor for 2 of these 3 to buck the trend/myth. But at this point that does not look like it is going to happen.

Larry Johnson is also in this category. I think he is still playing well however and most of his problems derive from the Oline and team moreso than his real ability.

For all the controversy in Denver this offseason and concern about their defense, Denver has played better than I think most expected them to.

After 4 weeks what are the biggest changes you see in the league from what you expected preseason?

Observations:

The Patriots and Brady look back on track with Welker back in the line-up.

Though low on him in the off-season, Big Ben is a solid every week play.

I gave David Garrard love, and I was right!

Top WRs are predictably unpredictable. But don't be surprised when its familiar faces at the end of the year.

Pierre Thomas is about to make all those people who believed in him VERY happy.

LT will not disrupt the bell curve.

Ray Rice is the back to have in Baltimore, not McGahee. I said this pre-season, and I will stick with it to the end.

The Cowboys are mediocre at best without TO. Just deal with it.

Ronnie Brown was not an over-rated player that you should have skipped over like so many experts said. Despite the tough upcoming sched., he'll be solid.

MJD is not over-rated. Matt Forte is! Despite today's performances.

Steven Jackson is simply not an every week play in that offense.

Despite two recent good weeks Steve Slaton will not be able to repeat last years level of performance.

I LOVE Frank Gore  , yet HATE him for always getting injured. You still should want to own him anyway.

The Titans stink at literally every thing but run D.

Denver D/ST should be owned in all leagues. Shocking. Seriously...shocking!

You normally don't want to start any of your players if they're up against the Jets this week.

I dropped Mike Sims-Walker from my team(dynasty) week 2, before Troy Williamson got injured, and I HATE myself for it! Still...he lost his job to Williamson, but now this? Really?

This is not a year that rookie RBs will shine.

DeSean Jackson is for real.

I feel like I should want to hate you Favre, but I'm glad you're still playing.

Brady Quinn will not be getting that contract bonus for playing in 10 or more games. You can stop putting him in commercials please. Thanks.

Payton Manning is still the best QB in the NFL, despite where he dropped in drafts this year.

I'll add:

Steve Smith is this year's version of Larry Fitzgerald, 2008...we're going to see 90+ catches, and double digit TDs ..

all from a NY Giants WR?!?! ;)

he will lead the NFL in TDs for a WR, probably will lead the league in receptions, etc..the kid is for real.

I was a non-believer, didn't think he was anything more than a possession receiver..

Joe Flacco is this year's version of Philip Rivers, 2008..going to throw a lot of TD's. Will have better stats that Tom Brady at season's end

the Patriots do not look like the team they were back in 2007...Brady will not score a bundle of TDs like he did that year, more like 24-28 or so. (below his career avg). He doesn't look like the same guy ( gunslingling TD scoring QB - he still wins games, just doesn't pad his stats like he used to),

and for that matter, Randy Moss doesn't look like the same guy he was in previous seasons..

scoring his first TD of the 2009 season in week 4?!

I agree with Ronnie Brown, he's a stud no matter who the opponent is. Same can be said for Ricky Williams.

Denver's performance is the biggest shocker to me. I thought their defense last year couldn't possibly be the basis of anything decent this year. I'll take back all I said about McDaniels.

On the downside, there is LT and TO. Old and washed up, I think.

"always play your studs" could now be much more match-up dependent. the consistent "studs" group is shrinking.

As much as it pains me, I was wrong about Denver and their coach.

I was right about Benson being worth his weight.

I was right about "Mangenious".

I was right about the CBS studio crew. still totally unwatchable.

I was wrong about Oakland, the team and the organization. they have no "bottom" to reach.

90 Catches ? Doesn't he have that already? He will lead the league in catches and he will get 1200 - 1300 yds but he will not lead WRs in TDs and he is not Anything like Larry Fitgerald
