Chargers are tough? I wouldn't say that. They've played Arizona and Buffalo, not exactly two dynamic passing offenses.not a great start this week vs. the tough Chargers but I really think he's going to be a borderline #1 for the rest of the year with QB play this year. He can run, they'll be behind, he's not afraid to chuck it and he's got a good arm. He'll have his picks and growing pains but he's going to keep fighting.
just meant that they are a good defense and they control the clock and limit teams opportunities/possessions. They aren't likely to go out and drop 21 in the 1st quarter and then it's garbage time for the rest of the game for Bortles. To me, those are the perfect/juicy matchups that you might want to roll with him. I want shootouts not games where they are going to get ground down by 10 minute / 14 play drives all game.Chargers are tough? I wouldn't say that. You're probably right, and it isn't my preferred match-up but the bye week and bare waiver wire necessitate I throw Bortles in there. The Jaguars defense is so bad, garbage time could start in the second quarter.just meant that they are a good defense and they control the clock and limit teams opportunities/possessions. I'm not sure JAX def is stout enough to hold an offense on the field for 10-14 min, it seemed like IND went up and down with relative ease no? Will have to check the drive logs...just meant that they are a good defense and they control the clock and limit teams opportunities/possessions. I guess my point is that Rivers/SD intentionally takes the clock down to a couple seconds on every play and they try and short the game and do an excellent job of it. They didn't start last year that way but mid-way through the year they switched their offense around and became a strict ball control, keep it 3rd and short offense. I have no doubt that the Chargers could likely carve up the Jags defense but I suspect they will do it by maximizing every snap where I don't think Luck and most teams run their offenses in the same manner.I'm not sure JAX def is stout enough to hold an offense on the field for 10-14 min, it seemed like IND went up and down with relative ease no? I see...I think its a tougher matchup for Bortles, but something to monitor. JAX made Trent Richardson look like his college days again for a bit. I picked him up in 2 places last week because this was inevitable. And i was able to save a few bucks on him in the processAnybody burning a waiver for him?
I have a #4 priority i may burn. Branden Oliver is on my radar, but all others you can imagine are taken in my league. Some guys wait for the magic pickup, I say strike while the iron's hot. I have Stafford and with improved Det defense and seemingly more conservative game plan, I need a slinger.Anybody burning a waiver for him?
Yeah, I agree. I like Bortles after this week but as a Russell Wilson owner with no back up, I'm thinking Fitzpatrick (believe it or not) is the better play for a week 4 fill-in. Playing at home with an ailing Arian Foster, no reason he can't put up the ~250 yards and 2 TD's that Rivers put up last week against the Bills in Buffalo. Rookie QB making his first start on the road against a San Diego team that is obviously in winning mode right now doesn't seem like a good bet.not a great start this week vs. the tough Chargers but I really think he's going to be a borderline #1 for the rest of the year with QB play this year. Russell Wilson.
Exactly the same decision, and I think I'm rolling with Bortles.Yeah, I agree. Giving Brady one more shot this week on MNF vs. KC. After that I may roll with Bortles.......GULP...Brady?
Yes, it looks like they even had a designed option play for him where he gained 10 yards. If you look at his stats from college he had some really nice rushing days of 50-90 yardsCan this guy run?
That's what I'm thinking too. I gotta believe that Monday night football will wake up the sleeping giant that is the ne offense.Giving Brady one more shot this week on MNF vs. KC. After that I may roll with Bortles.......GULP...Brady?![]()
