Week 4 Sleeper Defenses (1 Viewer)

The start of bye weeks and teams going with the Defense By Committee approach means there will be plenty of teams searching for a hot defense this week. Here are two I like:

Houston (at Atl.): The Texans' defense is for real. They are a much improved unit and even though Joey Harrington looked better last week history tells us he isn't the type of QB who can play well consistently. If the Texans put pressure on him he'll make some mistakes. I like the Texans to win this game and their defense to play well.

Tampa Bay (at Car.): This is only if David Carr starts. The Bucs' D looks much better of late but if Delhomme is the starter I'm not sure they'll be able to slow the Panthers' passing game down. But if Carr is the starter, that opens the door for plenty of sack opportunities and takeaways. Carr will panic in the pocket and we all know he's prone to taking sacks. If he starts and your league gives points for sacks the Bucs are a strong start this week in my opinion.

Who do you like and why?

Dallas will be the top scoring defense this week. GB will be #2. BAL, PIT, and SD round out the top 5.
I'm not sure any of those will be available in most leagues. Maybe the Cowboys. Ravens, Steelers and Chargers should be gone and the Packers should be too in most leagues.

Depends how desperate you are ... I just picked up the Jets :lmao: due to the fact that they are playing the Bills with a rookie QB.

My other option would be Cincy vs NE

I just picked up SEA DEF, I have been starting DEN, but they play the Colts this week and could give up 35 points and I dont want any of that. I hate getting negative points from my DEF spot, just hate it. SEA was a FA in my league and they play SF this week, I think they could do decent, hence why i picked them up.

I actually like the Falcons this week against the Texans. Houston will be without their top 2 receivers and likely their starting running back. They also lost one of their starting lineman for the season. Atlanta is at home (I prefer home defenses) and should be pretty angry at 0-3 all games that they were competitive in until late. A wounded animal is the most ferocious kind.

I can definitely see the Falcons winning this game.

SD with a little luck.If the Herminator can slide Croyle in there after LJ is repeatedly stuffed and the Chargers roll up 17 points (a blowout in Herminator numbers), then they can feast on Croyle.

AgreedI also have a waiver claim on Tampa taking a chance by dropping Houston this week to refer to the original poster

 I pulled the same maneuver. I like that they've had 7 sacks to go with 3 INT and 4 fumble recoveries. They managed to hold Arizona and Cincinnati to 23/21 points the last 2 weeks and the 49ers haven't topped the 20 point mark yet this season. I could see Seattle holding the 49ers to 10-14 points with 2-3 turnovers.

The Bills are due for a good performance(they were pretty solid at home versus Denver in the opener). I think they keep the Jets offense in check, and Dicky J runs out the clock in a low scoring affair.

I picked up and used KC last week and had moderate success vs. Buffalo and I'm doing the same thing again this week with the Jets.

If you dont have a stud defense, look to grab a D off of waiver wires that's playing a poor offense.

It's not a sure thing but nothing ever is.

I've been playing DEF roulette as well, and it's done so well for me :football:

Week 2: Cinci (vs Cle). how could you go wrong against a team that just threw out their starting Q?

Week 3: Det (vs. Phi). With a potent offense, and mcnabb looking lost so far, it's a sure bet!

So i've been telling my league mates to make their lineup decisions based on who I choose. This week I'm leaning towards Sea, so even without V. Davis, Alex Smith will post 4+ TDs. Guaranteed.

Initially I thought this to be true, but Dallas has been terrible against the pass. They did shutdown Grossman last week, but if you look at it they got very luck on several plays b/c the Bears WRs just dropped the ball. (e.g. Berrian deep fade pattern, if you can remember.)Also Bulger is not nearly as bad as Grossman and Bruce and Holt are way better than the Bears WRs. Eli and the Giants lit up the Cowboys in week one and also the Dolphins posted 20 points.I know S. Jax is out, but I think that means trouble for Dallas b/c the Rams will be flinging it maybe 50 times this game. Chances for INTs, but I bet the Rams put up at least a 24 spot on Dallas.I'd rather have the Texans vs. ATL.JMO

I'll take DET vs a poor Bears OWhen was the last time Griese played, mid season 05?
This is my pick as well.
Detroits DST is worse compared to how bad Chicago Offense is projected to fail. Does that make sense?Detriot DST is what the Dr. order for Philly's sick offense. Same Dr. is prescribing Detroit DST for Brian Griese. lovie Smith asked Mcnabb for a referral.
