Week 4 WW Defenses (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Bye weeks start this week and there look to be some decent matchups for defenses which are likely to be available:

Saints at home to the Jets. Saints defense has been putting up some nice FF pts so far.

49ers at home against the Rams. The Rams are horrible and Bulger may not play.

Bengals @ Browns. The Bengals defense has been decent while the Browns flat out suck and not sure which QB to play.

Bills @ Miami. . Pennington out and Chad Henne struggled last week.

Thoughts?

One thing to add about Miami's offense. They run a ton of wildcat plays. So although you may think a change in QB will downgrade them, it might just be the opposite since they have been successful at it.

49ers

Bengels

Saints

Bills

The Bengels and the Bills are available in my league. I will try to pick up Bengels, but they will probably be gone. But if I do get them, I will probably play them over Pitt (vs SD). Pittsburgh been pretty bad even though our league does give pretty good bonuses (and penalties) for few (many) yards and points.

I need a D. I can't decide between the Bengals or Niners. Who is the best bet to have a better rest of season? I am tired of paying $5 each week on a D. (Although Denver last week might have been worth it.)

So, who do you guys like going forward? 49ers sched

Niners

Skins. Loved 'em for this early stretch, and they really disappointed, but I'm gonna stick it out one more week, with a horrible Tampa team and green QB coming in. Then, I'm done with them.

Houston at home vs. Oakland?

I know they haven't looked like anything, but can't anyone look good versus the Raiders?

Trying to decide between these two, too.

Bengals available, but I'm last in waiver priority, so I'm thinking that Colts v. Seahawks is my backup option. Although the Freeney loss is a hit, I think they might still put up some points this week.

I'm deboarding the Denver Def train this week. #1 Def in my league right now but play DAL, NWE, @SD, @ Balt, PITT coming up. San Fran and Cinci look good this week.

Buffalo is starting to have a lot of injuries hit..Puz, Leodis etc, etc.

Cincy looks decent for the playoff stretch to considering they play the Browns then the Lions weeks 12 and 13.
add Oakland in week 11.....and my SB week 16 - hosting the Chiefs..... :goodposting: have a ww claim for them tonight.
After this week, I'm dropping the 9ers for Arizona... my playoff's are week 15 and 16... I have the Eagles D that I'll start without hesitation plus Ari plays Det on week 15 and STL week 16... can't find a better team to use.

Similar dilemma here with Philly on bye. I picked up the Skins DST in week 2, but after not looking as good as I hoped against very good match-ups I dropped them for the Bengals this morning. The 49ers and Saints are also available in this league, and I've been debating making a switch, but I'll probably stick it out with the Bengals.

Me too. I am keeping Denver until I don't have room though because I picked up Cincy and Denver has two decent weeks FBGs SOS wise when Cincy has bad SOS weeks. I will probably dump Denver though once I figure out who else is a better fit all season. I like NO better than SF just because SF's schedule isn't great and the two weeks that are good weeks, Cincy and NO have those covered. I think because NO plays the Jets, has a bye and then plays the Giants, they will be available in a couple weeks. I am worried about dropping Denver if in the end they actually become a good defense that is a good play regardless of the matchup.

I'm in the same situation. I am dropping the Broncos for the Bengals but hope it doesn't backfire on me and Denver does turn out to be a legitimate D and not just an over acheiving D that has played three weak teams so far. I also have the Jets as my #1 D but am showing them to the bench this week against NO. We get extra pts for our D keeping the opponents score low. This is another reason why I am wondering about dropping Denver. They have only given up 16 pts thru 3 games this year. I am just hoping that we don't have a repeat of the 2007 Browns-Bengals game.

If you can get DEN, CIN, and SD here's what it looks like:

Week 4: CIN @ CLE

Week 5: DEN vs NE (or CIN @ BAL...neither matchup is good but if DEN contains DAL in week 4 then we know they are for real, right?)

Week 6: SD vs DEN

Week 7: SD @ KC

Week 8: SD vs OAK

Week 9: DEN vs PIT (or CIN vs BAL or SD @ NYG....none of these are that great)

Week 10: DEN @ WAS

Week 11: CIN @ OAK

Week 12: SD vs KC

Week 13: DEN @ KC (or CIN vs DET or SD @ CLE...all look good)

Week 14: CIN @ MIN (or DEN @ IND, o SD @ DAL...none of these are that great)

Week 15: DEN vs OAK

Week 16: CIN vs KC

So only 3/10 weeks with bad matchups but 10/13 JUICY matchups. This is assuming that KC, OAK, and WAS are who we think they are. This also assumes that DEN isn't as good as they've shown thus far. SD looks to be droppable after week 12...
