Here's what I wrote in my RTD column this week:The safeties benefited from the same factors that helped Charles Godfrey in Week 4. The Bengals ran the stretch play very effectively, cutting off the linebackers at the second level and leaving the play side safety as the first unblocked defender to the play. The majority of the solo tackles made by Piscitelli and Grimm were made against Benson and outside the tackle box. There should be lots more Cover-2 and nickel looks against the Saints next week, leaving Grimm well off the line. Piscitelli might be a reasonable bet for 5-6 solos, but don't expect a repeat performance for either safety this week. You a believer in Grimm Jene this week and what about rest of season? I could use a DB this week, some upside is nice, but I don't want a floor of 0-1 most importantly..
Who has more upside: Grimm or Troy Nolan? Here's what I wrote in my RTD column this week:The safeties benefited from the same factors that helped Charles Godfrey in Week 4. In the longer term, he's subject to the usual Tampa-2 safety issues. He'll see some run support opportunity, but don't be fooled into thinking he's the next Mike Brown. Tanard Jackson's 80 solo pace last year was an anomaly of the top five tackle opportunity the Bucs gave themselves. This year's numbers are much closer to average. Grimm is probably a 65 solo tackle guy who will have to be schemed into big plays rather than force them himself. I think he's a marginal DB4.
For the short term, Grimm. Nolan is still rotating with Wilson. I haven't watched Nolan closely yet, but reports would suggest that he's got better ball instincts than Grimm. Were he to impress as a run defender, Nolan would have the better short and long term upside. Long term, Grimm is likely a backup for the Bucs, while Nolan has a chance to stick as the starting FS in Houston.Sup_Yo said:Who has more upside: Grimm or Troy Nolan? Here's what I wrote in my RTD column this week:The safeties benefited from the same factors that helped Charles Godfrey in Week 4. Hrmm.. Interesting analysis, sorry I didn't read the RTD, guess I should start doing that. My first podcast was this week and that was cool. Doesn't sound too exciting though re: Grimm. I've been doing IDP for 7-8 years but haven't had a lot of experience with Tampa DBs. Think I'm gonna look elsewhere this week. Here's what I wrote in my RTD column this week:The safeties benefited from the same factors that helped Charles Godfrey in Week 4. McClain is a definite hold in all but the shallowest dynasty leagues. I think he's reading way too much and not reacting. That's something that can be overcome in time. I'm not making excuses for him, but there's the decline and death of a close family member, whatever that Crohn's like illness was and some poor DT play that could be playing a role. Truly elite players probably overcome some/all of those issues, but there's certainly room for improvement in 2011 for him.Mark Kamenski said:I'd be interested to know if McClain is worth holding onto through next season. Is this just a learning curve? I mean Raiders are dead last against the run - you'd think getting a tackle would be pretty easy. He did have his best game last week with 7 tackles![]()

Fair enough. He's 29th in our league scoring among linebackers. That might be considered good for you, but that's far below (most people's) expectations. Nicholas has looked very good so far.18 solos, 7 assists, 1 sack over the last two weeks4th highest in solo tackles through 5 games7th overall in total points on the season (in my scoring system)Hasn't done much?I would start him. 29th definitely isn't good for me so I can see where you are coming from. And I think Nicholas has filled in nicely. But like I said, DJ is actually ranked 7th overall in my scoring system which is not too far off the beaten path in IDP scoring formats. Not sure what your scoring system consists of....2pt solo, 1pt assist, 3pt sack/int/ff/fr With some added bonuses for yardage on Int and FR yards and of course 6pt TDsFair enough.
