Thanks; as always I look forward to this before setting final lineup. One observation: if Booker is inactive yet again that means the rumors of Brown's "limping" are overblown as MIA wouldn't want to have just Chatman as the only healthy backup able to play.

The Houston Texans have declared WR Andre Johnson, CB Jamar Fletcher, TE Jeb Putzier, OG Kasey Studdard, OL Rashad Butler, RB Ron Dayne, LB Shantee Orr, LB Zac Diles inactive for Week 6.

I am surprised Joe and the boys let this thread happen. They post this stuff for paid customers, and when it is on the board, it can be seen by anyone. This is like posting the cheatsheets, etc.

It's nowhere near like posting the cheatsheets. It's information that can be found anywhere for free. Just nicely organized in one place by Jeter.

Thanks so much for doing this, Jeter -- great stuff, much aprpeciated.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the rule behind NFL teams declaring inactives? When must they do it? Do all teams must declare their inactives a certain time before their games, or must they ALL do it before a specific time on Sunday, regardless if they have a MNF tilt?

What is the penalty for not declaring inactives?

Just want to fill a knowledge gap -- that the Seahawks were able to avoid filing an injury report yesterday because of the "late practice" just got me to wondering what the rules for these reports and declaring inactives were, and what the penalties were in breaking these rules.

TIA, sorry for the hijack.

Not 100% sure but I think the gameday inactive lists are due 90 minutes before kickoff. I'll try to confirm that.

I am not sure of the official rules pertaining to declaring inactives, but they usually come in 30-60 minutes before kickoff. I don't think there is any penalty for not declaring a player active. Just because Maroney is active does not mean he will play, but teams only have a certain number of guys to play each week, they would not waste a gameday roster spot.

I'm a paid member and have no problem with this. Having non-paid members here gives us even more info that we might of missed. Also non-paid members see this for free, then realize if all this is free they might be able to get an idea what paid members get and what they are missing.

The Oct. 22nd 2006 news blurb on Chad Clifton here:http://www.packers.com/team/players/clifton_chad/

Seems to confirm that the deadline for inactive declarations is 90 minutes prior to kickoff. That would probably account for why we start getting early leaks around 10:30 Central and official word starts coming in around 11:00 Central.

ETA: I meant to clarify a bit and say 90 minutes prior to the kickoff of that game. For example, the Sunday late inactives normally don't come in until the 3rd quarter of the early games.

I surely don't have a problem with this either, I don't run the site, and the more info for me the better. I am just saying if I ran the site, I am not sure I would let this happen. THere has been talk through the years of possibly making the board only for paid members, etc. I personally would not like that, but again if I ran the site, I would not want the information that I work hard for be given out to people who don't invest in the site.

Laurence Maroney is among the Patriots inactive players Sunday.

Sammy Morris will start for the Patriots. Maroney warmed up before the game, but perhaps couldn't cut well. Other New England inactives: S Mel Mitchell, S Rashad Baker, OL Wesley Britt, OL Billy Yates, DL Santonio Thomas, and DL Kareem Brown.

Raiders declared QB Josh McCown, CB John Bowie, S Jarrod Cooper, T Mario Henderson, C Chris Morris, QB JaMarcus Russell, DT Gerard Warren and LB Sam Williams inactive for Week 6 against the Chargers.

Chargers declared WR Eric Parker, TE Scott Chandler, WR Legedu Naanee, T Roman Oben, CB Paul Oliver, FB Andrew Pinnock, LB Anthony Waters and QB Charlie Whitehurst inactive for Week 6 against the Raiders.

Cowboys declared WR Terry Glenn, S Courtney Brown, CB Anthony Henry, FB Oliver Hoyte, G Joe Berger, OT Doug Free, OT James Marten and WR Isaian Stanback inactive for Week 6 against the Patriots.
