I agree with that, but (serious question) when is the last time both number 1 seeds made it to the Super Bowl?I believe that the Colts are the most likely team to get the #1 seed in the AFC, and the Saints are the most likely team to get the #1 seed in the NFC.
Last time according a quick Google Search - Super Bowl XXVIII (1993) with Buffalo vs. Dallas. The reason I went with the #1 seed logic is that I don't know who the other likely bye team will be in each conference. If Denver keeps playing well - they have a great shot - but Monday Night's game will tells us a lot. And between the Giants/Eagles/Vikings - that is a tough call for the other bye team. I'm just playing the "odds" without seeing what the playoff matchups will be.I agree with that, but (serious question) when is the last time both number 1 seeds made it to the Super Bowl?I believe that the Colts are the most likely team to get the #1 seed in the AFC, and the Saints are the most likely team to get the #1 seed in the NFC.
Roger Goodell talked about this last year. From 2008:Jets vs Giants.
Riots will ensue in the Big Apple.
Speaking of that...what would happen if for instance they were both #1 seeds and hosted conference final games? The NFL always schedules conference finals on Sunday so they would have to do both games at the Meadowlands. Double header Sunday? Or would the league move one game to Saturday?
If the Giants and Jets both end up hosting their respective conference championships, fans won't get to watch a Giants Stadium doubleheader.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told WFAN Sports Radio 66 Tuesday that if both New York teams host conference championship games at Giants Stadium, the games would not be played on the same day.
Instead, one game would likely be played at night on the traditional Sunday, Jan 18., and the second game would be played Monday night, Jan. 19.
Goodell said Saturday would not be an option, as it would give the two teams playing only six days to prepare.

Why? AFC looks pretty wide open.Jets arent going anywhere near the AFC title game this year
and pick the Falcons, but I don't think our D is ready yet. Maybe I could change to the really outside of the box pick, Falcons/Bengals.FYP. YWIA.Why? AFC looks pretty wide open if you don't count the Colts.Jets arent going anywhere near the AFC title game this year
Packers vs BengalsPackers win 27-14
I'm gonna go with the Manning's cause the world and media doesn't already have enough of a love affair with this family so we'll need to hear hours and hours of hype about it.No love for Minnesota yet? The NFC is tough this year with the Saints, Giants, Vikings, Eagles, 49ers, and Packers the likely playoff teams. I think Farve and the Vikings have as good of a chance as any.Edit...Atlanta is a real possibility to beat out the Pack though. The AFC is a bit down this year. I think SD, Den, NYJ, Pitts, Colts, and Cinci make it. It is hard to bet against the Manning and the Colts, but they usually find a way to disappoint. But I really don't see that strong of competition, so I will say the ColtsColts - Vikings
Vikings over Colts, and then Favre retires for real.To be fair - with the following end of the season schedule, the Pats are pretty much guaranteed to be on a roll. 14 Sun, Dec 13 Carolina 1:00 PM FOX Tickets Gillette Stadium 15 Sun, Dec 20 @ Buffalo 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Ralph Wilson Stadium 16 Sun, Dec 27 Jacksonville 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Gillette Stadium 17 Sun, Jan 3 @ Houston 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Reliant Stadium Their playoff/seeding fate is basically in these 5 games before the end of the season:9 Sun, Nov 8 Miami 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Gillette Stadium 10 Sun, Nov 15 @ Indianapolis 8:20 PM NBC Tickets Lucas Oil Stadium 11 Sun, Nov 22 NY Jets 4:15 PM CBS Tickets Gillette Stadium 12 Mon, Nov 30 @ New Orleans 8:30 PM ESPN Tickets Superdome 13 Sun, Dec 6 @ Miami 8:20 PM NBC Tickets Land Shark StadiumThe Belichick Patriots traditionally get off to a slow start and then seem to figure things out as the season goes along. Towards the end of the year they are on a roll. I guess it would be foolish to buck that trend. I'll go Patriots over Giants.
I did a study about 3 weeks ago and I believe under Tom Brady they've only lost once at home in the month of December or something ridiculous. To be fair - with the following end of the season schedule, the Pats are pretty much guaranteed to be on a roll. 14 Sun, Dec 13 Carolina 1:00 PM FOX Tickets Gillette Stadium 15 Sun, Dec 20 @ Buffalo 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Ralph Wilson Stadium 16 Sun, Dec 27 Jacksonville 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Gillette Stadium 17 Sun, Jan 3 @ Houston 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Reliant Stadium Their playoff/seeding fate is basically in these 5 games before the end of the season:9 Sun, Nov 8 Miami 1:00 PM CBS Tickets Gillette Stadium 10 Sun, Nov 15 @ Indianapolis 8:20 PM NBC Tickets Lucas Oil Stadium 11 Sun, Nov 22 NY Jets 4:15 PM CBS Tickets Gillette Stadium 12 Mon, Nov 30 @ New Orleans 8:30 PM ESPN Tickets Superdome 13 Sun, Dec 6 @ Miami 8:20 PM NBC Tickets Land Shark StadiumThe Belichick Patriots traditionally get off to a slow start and then seem to figure things out as the season goes along. Last year without Brady they started similarly to this year -- 3-2. Note the key words: without Brady.:( Last year without Brady they started similarly to this year -- 3-2. Couple years back they started 18-0.
Three years back they started 6-1.
Is that "traditionally slow"?
Belichick Patriots losses, by month 2000-2008:
September:12
October:11
November:12
December:6
Last year they lost 3x in November bringing that month down, which was interesting to see.
Patriots last december loss was 21-0 @ the Dolphins on the 10th in 2006.
Patriots last december HOME loss was on the 22nd....in 2002. :( 30-17 to the Jets.
That December home loss to the Jets in 2002 was the ONLY time in the Brady era the Patriots have lost at home in December. Under Belichick, they lost at home one other time (with Bledsoe at QB) on December 24th, 2000 27-24 to the Dolphins.
I'll pick the winner of this Sunday's Saints Giants matchup against the ColtsSaints vs Colts
If only it can happen for Saints fans. It has to happen sometime right?Saints - Colts. Saints win.

I don't have the time to take a look into all of these, but since I never got the feeling that the Pats started slow I took a look into this one. FWIW, those December stats are misleading at best. The Pats lost at home on Jan 1, 2006 to the Dolphins. Also lost Nov. 30th last year at home to the Steelers. They are one day removed from December each. Yet the games in December are proof to you that they are better at the end of the season than the end?:( Last year without Brady they started similarly to this year -- 3-2.
