Week 7 Sneaky Start - Antonio Chatman, CIN (1 Viewer)

The reasons are multiple, starting with this nugget from JB:

WR Kelley Washington (CIN) is the latest Bengals' receiver to be knocked out of commission. He suffered a hamstring injury Sunday at Tampa Bay and is being ruled out for the Carolina game Sunday at home. Washington's absence will leave the Bengals with just three healthy, veterans: Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Antonio Chatman. Rookie Reggie McNeal, who was the team's emergency third quarterback last week, could be the No. 4 receiver. Or it's a role RB Chris Perry, an excellent pass receiver, could fill if he returns from the PUP list as expected.

And from KFFL (who also indicated Tab Perry would be out)

Bengals | Chatman expected to handle kick, punt returns Week 7

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Antonio Chatman will likely handle kickoff and punt returns in the team's Week 7 game.

For leagues that start 3 WRs, he could be a good play this week. First off, he will be in the #3 hole, add to that, he would reward teams in leagues that give points for return yards.

I see where the team hopes to line-up C. Perry at WR this week, and I do find it somewhat curious that a team that is that low on healthy WRs would use their #3 to handle kick and punt returns, but then again Miami does the same with Welker.

What is the shark opinion?

San Diego does this same technique with eric parker handling punts and he is the no. 2 WR for the chargers. Not that uncommon IMO.

Good call Mr. Pink. Two factors that may work against Chatman:

1) Carolina's D is strong (but without Manning Jr.) and Cincy's O-line is banged up (Levi Jones and Rich Braham out).

2) Chris Perry is expected to return. Likely their #3 option on 3rd downs.

Add Richard Marshall as the guy covering the number 3 receiver. He ain't bad for a rook.Me thinks the Bengals are gonna be running into a freight train this weekend.....but you never really know. SomeONE could have a big day for Cincy...not sure who.KP
