Week 8 Waiver Wire Targets/Pickups (1 Viewer)

We are past the midway point of the season... who are you grabbing? 12, 14, 16 team league, specify the guys you want to roster. It's a light week but there are decent speculative adds out there.

Kenjon Barner - Sony Michel should be out a week or two, and he's the only big back left on the roster unless they sign one.

Rishard Matthews - signed by the Jets, he's probably the best receiver they'll have.

Danny Amendola - Fins are down to 3 WRs, and one of then is DeVante Parker. Amendola is Bork''s favorite wideout right now.

Chris Herndon - 4 for 7 and 42 plus a TD makes him a decent play in this TE-starved market.

New England D/ST - They face Buffalo and Derek Anderson. 'nuff said.

I didn't list the obvious guys (Tre'Quan Smith, Jalen Richard/Doug Martin, Raheem Mostert) because they should have been picked up last week.

Jalen Richard in ppr leagues.

Ronald Jones if you're a desperate optimist.
Richard is the obvious one if you're in a PPR league. OAK is tanking fast and they're going to be playing catch-up the rest of the year.

Who fills the passing game gap? Seems like a big bump to Martavis Bryant?

Contemplating Elijah McGuire in a few weeks when he comes off IR if Powell is out. Crowell playing well though.

Motert

Barner only if you own Michel.

Any Oakland RB available including Washington.

Amendola.

WTF Mathews

Barner is 5'9", 195. White is 5'10", 205. As Lister in PFR.

Neither is big but White is bigger...and a better runner, and a better receiver, and has the faith of Brady and Belichick and has proven to produce at a high level in the past.

But otherwise Barner is a great add.

I didn't think I had to use quotations marks for the point to be understood. Noted for next time.

Michel owner in non-PPR who doesn't absolutely need a replacement (I have Barkley, Lindsay and DLewis), but might want to add depth if he's going to be out more than a week or two, especially with byes coming up.

I waited until after waivers had cleared and then took a flier on Doug Martin. I don't have high expectations, but I figure he at least has the ceiling of an RB2 if he gets the opportunity and can regain some of his old form. Plus, I'll hopefully be able to tell within a week or two if there's anything there; if not, I can move on.

Based on the other options available, I didn't want to waste a waiver claim on Richard, especially in non-PPR, and I don't trust Barner at all to be a consistent producer. He's like the anti-Martin; even if he has a good game, I still won't know whether I can feel comfortable putting him in my starting lineup.

This has been a bad year for the waiver wire. Lindsay has been the most productive pick and he's not even a top-50 redraft pick ROS. That's a little odd.  I would not hesitate to burn waiver priority for someone like Doug Martin or Jalen Richard and hope one of them is useful.

I guessed (correctly, as it turned out) that the stink on Martin is bad enough that I wouldn't have to waste my WW priority on him, even in a 14-teamer. I suspect that's probably true in lots of leagues.

The time to stash Elijah McGuire is now! Powell just added to IR. McGuire is eligible to come back in week 9 and is already practicing with the team. The coaching staff compared him to LT. I know laughable but they like him. He can immediately step into Powell role.

Just added him hoping he might turn into something when he returns! If not, nothing lost. I was hoping to hold Courtland Sutton to see what happens with D Thomas before the trade deadline but the report is it doesn't seem like he's going to be traded and I needed RB depth more than receiver depth.

In ppr leagues, Lindsay is a top 15 rb. He has 15 receptions on the season so it's not like he's falling off a cliff in value for standard leagues. Yes, he hasn't had his bye, but he did miss virtually all of one game (the one he was ejected from).

I realize nobody wants to bank on his production continuing, but he has been worth a top 50 redraft pick and I'm not seeing any real reason to expect that to stop.

Jakeem Grant worth a look? He’s sitting there on my waivers and I just think given a bigger opportunity he could be really good. With Wilson and Stills out I feel like this could be his breakout game. Think I’m going to grab him before it’s too late.

Edited to add- league does award kick and punt return points. Only thing I’m not sure about is I’d have to drop Mike Williams, Keke or Godwin to get him. If I do it I’m leaning towards dropping Williams

I just picked him up. Dropped Keke for him. I needed somebody this week with injuries and byes. I was debating him and Amendola for the week. Somebody odd used a waiver claim on Amendola so my decision was made for me. I too think he’s got a shot at a decent game, even if its a small shot.

Is he just a PPR guy, or can he run between the tackles?

Also should mention that Taylor Gabriel & Chris Godwin were just put on waivers. Don’t want to use a #2 waiver claim on them but if they are free I may be snagging one of them to play instead. Haven’t decided.

Both Cobb and Allison are available due to injury and bye weeks

Tyrrell Williams also available due to bye. Low floor high ceiling option

Kirk is still available. Will be interested in seeing if the offense changes any with new oc

Jack Doyle had a limited practice today. He might play Week 8, and then he has a Bye Week 9. Now is the chance to get him; the first two weeks of the season he played 94% and 97% of the snaps since Indy runs 2 TE frequently.  Even if he is out Week 8, he'll definitely be ready by Week 10. In this turrible TE market I can see Doyle ascending to Top 6 TE value easy once healthy ROS:

10 - Nov 11JAC

11 - Nov 18 TEN

12 - Nov 25 MIA

13 - Dec 2 @JAC

14 - Dec 9 @HOU

15 - Dec 16 DAL

16 - Dec 23 NYG

That's not a daunting sched: even Jacksonville is scuffling on D recently.

Chris Herndon - 4 for 7 and 42 plus a TD makes him a decent play in this TE-starved market.
I picked up Herndon but now see Doyle was dropped.  I’m considering dropping him for Doyle.

Engram is also on my roster - idk why.

Well he's kind of a do it all type, but personally I didn't see anything all the special about him. Apparently the coaching staff likes him. He's definitely second in the pecking order when he comes back likely next week.

I was just reading the Derrick Henry thread. People are pretty down on him (rightly so) and he's been dropped in several leagues (including one of mine). That said, tempted to grab him now for free on the chance TEN gets it going after the BYE. I feel like a nice showing by him against DAL and/or injury to Lewis and he is back on people's radar. Schedule is not real appealing but (at this point) no one that is available is not without some warts.

Please don’t. Trust me.

Close your eyes.  Imagine yourself in front of your computer on a Sunday morning.

Now try and imagine feeling good about clicking Submit after you've inserted Henry into your starting lineup.

That's not a scene I can imagine.  Not this season anyway.

Not sure if this is a Buy Low or a WW pickup, but Oak WR Seth Roberts now with A Cooper in Dallas...

He has 13 targets in last 2 games (9 for 72) and he is somebody who Carr already has a relationship with (unlike Nelson & Bryant).

FWIW- Bryant has 6 targets & 7 these same last 2 games...

I think bryants upside is higher, he can have a nice week with 1 catch, although he hasn't really shown it this year
