Week 8 WW defenses (1 Viewer)

I'm thinking those who had the Colts last week should hang on to them at home against the Niners. Alex Smith was a fluke against Houston and can't be expected to do the same against the Colts with Bob Sanders back and at home. Look for SF to get behind early again and this time Freeney will tee off on Alex Smith.

The Jags s/b available in almost all leagues. They play the Titans and VY may be starting...he should be good for fumble, a few sacks and a pick or two. Their ST's (Titans) are also bad so it may be a decent play.

Arizona may also be a decent play at home with Delhomme throwing picks or his potential replacement.

I took the Colts last week, will also stick with them this week.

I'm thinking of Chicago D versus Cle. Chicago usually not a WW, but this year they're pretty bad, esp w/out Urlacher.

Jags would be sneaky, but they've hardly done anything this year--sitting as the 2nd worse FF D in my league (std yahoo scoring).

I'm going with Detroit off their bye at home vs St. Louis. The Rams have scored 0, 7, 0 and 20 in their 4 road games this year. The 20 was at Jax for those considering the Jags this week.

How bad is Tennessee? Any chance Fisher and the bye restores a bit of pride to them.. They have decent matchups the next few weeks.

Not that I expect them to be good but I am in a start 2 TD league and only others available are Jax, Stl, Det, KC, TB

Dropped the GB defense this week to pick up the Chargers against the hapless Raiders. Here's to hoping JaMarcus get another start!

same here; Indy looks to have a couple of good weeks ahead of them.

I've passed on the Bills two weeks in a row and regretted it two weeks in a row.

I realize the Texans are a bad matchup but they are playing IN Buffalo (take a look at what offenses have been doing up there, not much).....

Gotta like SD vs. Oak.

I use Green Bay as my primary defense, and I keep an eye on the WW for matchups to exploit when I don't care for Green Bay's matchup.

I'm going to go with Houston this week, playing in Buffalo against the Flying Fitzpatricks.

Don't you hate playing a Defense against your favorite team? With that said... I just picked up Indy for this weekend against SF. Although SD is currently locked on our waivers b/c someone just dropped them. I will be waiting in the wings tomorrow night to try and swoop them up.

I don't need any week 8 defenses, but my week 9 opponent sure needs one. So I am putting in a claim for the Seahawks DST which faces the Lions next week. Then I'll hold them until next weekend's open waivers start and dump them to the wire, essentially locking them and screwing over my week 9 opponent. I already screwed over the same dude taking away his week 8 Brady replacement and now he has to start Delhomme. If he were 2-5 instead of 5-2, I wouldn't be so mean. But this is a cutthroat hobby.

GB is my primary D too. I just picked up Arizona's D. Check out these schedules:GB upcoming opponents:

Week 8 - Min

Week 9 - @ TB

Week 10 - Dal

Week 11 - SF

Week 12 - @ Det

Week 13 - Bal

Week 14 - @ Chi

Week 15 - @ Pit

Week 16 - Sea

Arizona upcoming opponents:

Week 8 - Car

Week 9 - @ Chi

Week 10 - Sea

Week 11 - @ Stl

Week 12 - @ Ten

Week 13 - Min

Week 14 - @ SF

Week 15 - @ Det

Week 16 - Stl

Jackpot! :banned: Out of the nine remaining weeks, you get Det twice, Stl twice, TB, SF, Car, and Sea. Weeks 12-14 are pretty much toss-ups that will work themselves out as the season progresses . Week 13 is the only week you'll have to play a good offense, but Min and Bal certainly aren't like playing a NO or Indy-type team. I just picked up the Cards because the Panthers are still inexplicably starting Delhomme, but once I noticed how these two complement each other I realized that I may have struck gold.

I've been using NYG D and to start they rocked.. then the past 2 not so much (2 weeks ago -4... not making that mistake again).

So--NYG vs PHI I need a WW D...

DET vs STL

HOU @ BUF

JAX @ TEN

I'm leaning towards DET (but no Calvin.. offense stalls and STL runs it in easy as SJAX has a MONSTER day)...

Fitz in BUF just might throw for a bundle (just cause--he's got the targets to do it)... and sooner or later BUF O has to hit the run jackpot.... HOU could be that team.

Don't trust JAX D... would go with them if Cocktail Collins was a lock at QB-he's awful.

Collins has been sober for 10 years now. For defense I like San Diego this weekend. They were dumped in a lot of leagues for bad performances during the first few games (with the exception of the KC game last weekend), so they may be available on the WW.

Bah! Someone snagged Arizona D off waivers ahead of me. So I have picked up Chicago to start this week vs Cleveland.

I have New England, and picked up Miami to cover their bye week. I don't think the Jets will run over the Fish, & hopefully Sanchez finds those rookie CB's

The main reason I did it was because their schedules gel well for the rest of the year. Weeks 9&13 is the only 'bad' match-up for the Dolphins

Steelers is my #1 D/ST unit...so since they're on bye this week...I went with the Bears vs Cleveland. My opponent grabbed the San Diego D/ST unit vs Oakland...so hopefully I made the right choice. Oakland seems to have more chance of a decent offensive game than the Browns do. Raiders have a pretty good running game, a good tight end if they'll use him, and the Chargers aren't great against the run or against opposing tight ends. So I'm hoping the Raiders can get on track a little and put up at least 14-17 points on the Chargers...without allowing Sproles a ST TD. Bears gotta be ticked about what they let Cincy do to them...I think they come out fired up and take it out on Anderson..hopefully get a pick-6 or special teams TD from Knox or Hester.

Was Indy not available? Just curious. My WW request for AZ and CHI got shot down. Indy was the next best available, but SD will be unloced tonight. Not sure if I should make a play for them? Or sit tight with Indy at home vs. SF.I may just pick them up anyways to avoid my opponent from getting them. :bag:

I'm in the same boat and had ARI and DET for waivers. Someone snagged ARI before me and I ended up with the Lions. Now the Bears just hit the waivers and I'm contemplating dropping Lions for Bears.

Indy was not available in my league's WW this week. The guy who snatched them up last week to play them vs STL is keeping them to play them vs SF as well...smart move. Again, between Arizona, Chicago, and San Diego this week...I think they all have good D/ST scores...but I sort of like the Bears and Cardinals over the Chargers. With Arizona's matchup, Delhomme is an INT machine...but with D Williams and J Stewart along with the always dangerous Steve Smith on the Panthers...they could go off on any given week. The other two offenses in question are much worse(Oakland and Cleveland).

Good logic and this is why I just dropped Lions for the Bears. If the Lions struggle offensively and SJax runs the ball effectivley all day long the n the points will be minimal.I think the Bears will ManUp and play well at home.CHI NEEDS this win!I'm starting Cutler, Hester at Flex, Olsen at TE and Bears D this week.It will either go well or I'll probably lose this week.

lot of eggs in one basket there WFR.. I did something similar a couple of weeks ago when Seattle was playing Arizona...played Hasselbeck at QB, Housh at WR, and Burleson at WR...and even with how bad they did that day, i still WON! I got lucky and played one of the lower scoring teams that week...and had Randy Moss and MJD go off for 30+ in my league's scoring..so that helped too.

But I think all the Bears are great plays this week pretty much. Hester seems to be getting more and more looks from Cutler..and if Cutler can't pass on Cleveland, he's in trouble. I'm kind of hoping they go up by 14 or 21 quick and then just grind out the clock with Forte..adding a special teams or defensive TD along the way somewhere :spade:
