Week 9 2025 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
This is where we ask questions and offer help.

Thank you to all the posters who come here to offer that help.

A couple notes:

I attempt to give well considered responses to all questions posted. I can't get to everything, but I'll try.

1) This only works if people participate. If you ask for help it is good form to offer help to someone else.

2) Please post the matchup. e.g. Penix vs Den or James Cook @ Mia (a lot of you are missing this one. We don't necessarily have all the matchups memorized, please don't make us do your legwork. TIA)

3) Please post important league scoring considerations (e.g. PPR, super-flex etc).

4) Please go easy on the nicknames, save that for other threads. We can't help if we don't know who you are talking about.

5) NEW REQUEST: Please remember that if you come here asking advice, it is greatly appreciated if you offer advice to others. TIA

View this as an exercise to help focus your thoughts about teams in general. Players you own may not be involved in these WDIS questions but certainly you will own players on many of these teams. Analyzing other players will help you identify things you may have otherwise not considered.

(Joe Edit: When you ask, please let us know which way you're leaning. And more importantly, why. What do you see as the pros and cons. Most people will be much more likely to help if they feel like you've put in a little work on this as well.)

Let's move on to week 9

@Joe Bryant @FBG Moderator

Can we get this pinned please?

I'll start:

Need one QB
Caleb Williams @ CIN
Sam Darnold @ WAS

PPR looking for a TE:
Schultz v DEN
Pitts @ NE

PPR need two Flex players:
BTJ @ LV
Jameson v MIN
Chuba @ GB
C.Watson v CAR

Currently I have Caleb in because CIN still has a slightly worse pass defense than WAS.

I think I will go with Pitts at TE but a lot depends on the status of lots of guys like Penix, London, Nico & Kirk

I have BTJ and Jameson in as my flex. Chuba has a tough matchup and Rico may see a bigger share this week. Watson showed up strong on Sunday, coming close to a TD too but, I do worry about consistency from the GB passing game.

League 2 SF & PPR:

Lamar @ MIA
D.Jones @ PIT
Nix @ Hou

I think I have to roll with Lamar but, no idea who to bench between Jones & Nix.

PPR I need 2 Flex spots:
JCM v SEA
Rico @ GB
Rhamondre v ATL
T. Henderson v ATL
BTJ @ LV
Jakobi v JAC
Jameson v MIN

I think I have BTJ as one flex because of matchup, stubbornness and, all the other options have question marks too. I have Rhamondre penciled in as my 2nd flex. He had a down game but still saw a 74% snap share (21% for Henderson) and 16 opportunites (10 for Henderson) and has a nice matchup. Rico seems like a good option if we are to believe Coen's comments but, teams don't run on Green Bay (1st in rush attempts against, 3rd in yards against, 5th in TDs against, 4th in ypc against).

Just a buncha guys I can make arguments for and against.

Here's a big one:
FFPC scoring:

Need THREE,yes THREE of the following:

A.Jones @ Det

R.Dowdle @ GB

X.Worthy @ Buff

D.Samuel vs Sea

W.Robinson vs SF

C.Watson vs Car

I'll start:

I like the matchup for Caleb
Caleb>Sam

Schultz has a tough matchup and Atlanta should be playing catch-up
Pitts>Schultz

Two flex plays,I'll take a chance and say:
BTJ>Watson>Jameson>Chuba
Yes it looks like Rico is about to become the lead back in Carolina and I like the upside for Watson.has game under his belt, looks healthy

League 2 SF & PPR:

Lamar @ MIA
D.Jones @ PIT
Nix @ Hou

Lamar and Indiana Jones

Then: BTJ>Rhamondre>Rico>Jakobi>Jameson>Henderson
But it's tight with those first four

Standard scoring, non-ppr leagues:

Choose between:
Travis Etienne vs LV - Coming off a bye; Raiders run D is middle of the road; production has slowed since the beginning of the year
Chase Brown vs CHI - Coming off a 2 TD performance on limited volume as Perrine is gaining snap share

and...Choose 1 of:

Tee Higgins vs LV - Only 1 catch last week for 44yds and a TD off of 2 targets
Chris Olave vs NO - Hasn't been great in non-ppr but has a decent floor due to volume
Deebo Samuel vs SEA - An absolute stinker on Monday night with Marriota at QB

Thank you

Given your parameters I'd go:

Travis>Chase

Tee>Chris>Deebo

Non-ppr scoring

Just the two dilemmas this week, need one of the following

KW3 @ Commanders
T.McMillan @ Packers
Z.Flowers @ Dolphins
T.Tracy vs Niners
K.Hunt @ Bills

Also which of these TEs (likely stay McBride while Brissett is QB)

McBride @ Cowboys
Gadsden @ Titans

The QBs are tricky. I lean Caleb simply because the matchup is too good to miss really.

TE: Pitts

BTJ and Watson for the Flex

As long as Flacco is starting, I think I go with Chase Brown here. Whatever the snap count says, the production cannot be denied. Chase is lighting it up ATM.

Etienne is a fine option with a great matchup IMO but, he has tailed off while Chase is ascending.

C.Brown>ETN
===========≠======

I think I go with Higgins at WR. The Bengals are scoring in bunches since Flacco took over and, I would want to capture as much of it as I can.

Olave is getting great volume but, the Saints haven't put up a bunch of points and they don't look like they're going to start anytime soon. I also consider being on the road against the Rams as a horrible matchup.

Deebo is also solid but, again that offense is struggling with and without Daniels.

Tee>Deebo>Olave

#2 first:

Are you kidding me? Love Gadsden but, find a flex spot for him of you want him in your lineup. McBride all-day-every-day regardless of QB.

McBride>Gadsden
=================

I can see the issues here but, IMO with Lamar back and the plus matchup I'm pretty locked in on Flowers here. If Lamar is right, I could see the Ravens put up 40+ on the Dolphins. It just feels like a potential statement game. In non-ppr I target the potential TDs.

Tet has a rough matchup but, teams don't run on the Packers (3rd in rush attempts against, 30th in pass attempts against) so, Tet should see his typical volume, maybe more if Dalton starts. He's a fine option but, since it's non-ppr I worry the TD opps will be few & far between.

Between KW, Tracy & Hunt... I give Hunt the TD upside and Tracy the opportunity upside (non-ppr reduces that value) and KW has them better matchup and he's the best talent IMO but, Charbs is eating into his potential, Tough to parse between them but, I probably target Kareem's TD potential.

Zay>Tet>Kareem>KW>Tracy

Definitely start Lamar and Jones. Pitt is pretty soft in the secondary, Houston are quietly pretty tough.

I roughly rank the other options as such BTJ>Rhamondre>Rico>Jakobi>Jameson>Henderson but saying that, I find BTJ very hard to trust. They're all quite close.

Same-zees I'm rolling Jones as the QB2 over nix. Just a hunch. I like BTJ - I think the Jags pass offense has shown signs of life lately, No? Also Like Rhamondre over Dowdle due to matchup.
