Week 9 Coaches Corner (1 Viewer)

WDIS @ LB Ray lewis or Andre Davis? All things considered i'm thinking of siiting the stud lewis against Cinci for Davis against LT and the run happy chargers? time of possesion prob favors SD so Clev's D should be on the field more. Thoughts?
I'd still start Lewis. He's still a big playmaker IMO with more upside. Davis is solid, but I think he's slipped a tad bit (albeit very little) in the 3-4..

1.5tack, .75assist, 5int, 4sack, 3 ff, 2fr, 1passdefend, 1per10rush/rec/kick/puntreturnI start 4DB'si have. Ter. McGee, J. Miller(bye), K. Rhodes(bye) and S. SchweigertI can't drop Miller because of his return numbers. But can I drop Rhodes or Schweigert for one of these? If not, which is the best play for this week?T. Johnson, A. Bethea, Dwight Smith, N. Collins, D. Sharper
You can and should drop Schweigert for either Johnson or Bethea. Bethea has a very good matchup against NE, who might run the ball 45 times against the Colts this week. He'd be my choice whether Bob Sanders returns or not.

Hi Coaches!

I need to start 3DLs out of the 4 below, with only Sacks counting... who would you leave on the bench?

First set of values are: player sacks '06 / player games played '06

Second set of values: career player sacks against opponent / career player games played against opponent

Third set of values: opponent sacks allowed '06 / opponents pass attempts '06 (sack allowed every # passing attempt)

Code:
JSmith @ BAL--------6.5/7---3.0/10---13/223 (17.2)CGrant @ TB---------3.0/7---5.0/9----13/261 (20.1)AOgunleye vs MIA----2.5/5---0.0/0----26/280 (10.8)PKerney @ DET-------5.0/7---2.5/4----23/264 (11.5)
The extra matchup information is much appreciated. Between Grant and Smith for me. I'd go with Grant, but it's close. I think the Bucs are likely to have more pass attempts than the Ravens. Billick will run the ball all day if they can get ahead of the Bengals.

Would love some advice on this week. We start 3 DLs, 4 LBs, 4 DBs. 1pt for tckl or ast, 5 pts for FF, FR, INT, Sack, 10pts for TD

DL - Planning on starting Victor, Jared, and Jarvis. Thinking I should stay away from Hall with the Det DLine all injured (him included). Harris is tempting, but the odd man out.

Tommie Harris vs. Miami Dolphins (Sun 1:00p)

**Victor Adeyanju vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Sun 1:00p)

**Jared Allen @ St. Louis Rams (Sun 1:00p)

**Jarvis Green vs. Indianapolis Colts (Sun 8:15p)

James Hall (Questionable) vs. Atlanta Falcons (Sun 1:00p)

Jarvis Green will be a tough start this week. The Colts struggle against 3-4 schemes (SD, PIT, NE) and I don't expect Green to get many opportunities this week. If Hall is healthy enough to start, I'd play him and hope for the best. When the gameplan allows it, teams have gotten to Vick.

LB - Planning on starrting DJ, Lemar, Ernie, and Brian. Landon concerns me with all the flux in CIN. Boley was interesting, but I couldn't figure out who to drop, and he's be a little up and down. Manny hasn't been consistent enough (IMO)

Michael Boley @ Detroit Lions (Sun 1:00p)

**Derrick O. Johnson @ St. Louis Rams (Sun 1:00p)

Landon Johnson @ Baltimore Ravens (Sun 1:00p)

Manny Lawson vs. Minnesota Vikings (Sun 4:05p)

**Lemar Marshall (Probable) vs. Dallas Cowboys (Sun 1:00p)

**Ernie Sims vs. Atlanta Falcons (Sun 1:00p)

**Brian Urlacher vs. Miami Dolphins (Sun 1:00p)

Landon Johnson may get the call at WLB this week if Simmons can't get on the practice field. But I agree with your plan.

CB Currently planning on startng Bethea, Earl, Jones, and Williams. I normally start Collins, but it looks like FS's don't do much against the Bills. Darrent I always like, but if Rothelsburger pitches another 5 reception stinker he won't get any tackles. Babineaux is interesting, but I wouldn't know who to drop out.

Darrent Williams @ Pittsburgh Steelers (Sun 4:15p)

Jordan Babineaux vs. Oakland Raiders (Mon 8:30p)

**Antoine Bethea @ New England Patriots (Sun 8:15p)

Nick Collins @ Buffalo Bills (Sun 1:00p)

**Glenn Earl @ New York Giants (Sun 1:00p)

**Sean Jones @ San Diego Chargers (Sun 4:15p)

**Madieu Williams @ Baltimore Ravens (Sun 1:00p)

I think you've got the right plan here. Haven't seen any reports on Glenn Earl recently; I assume he's fully healthy despite his stinker of a game last week. You could go with either Earl or Babineaux; the Tiki/Shockey matchup is probably good enough to roll with Earl this week.

Thanks very much for the insight
Appreciate the extra information.

Sounds a little blasphemous, but if your scoring system is not big play oriented then I think I'd strongly consider starting Davis. LT has been quoted as saying he's got something to prove against a team that overlooked him in the draft.

Thanks:1. for the kind words - I want to make sure I try and look at all the relevant information and include it in the post in order to have educated guesses when others are replying;

2. for the educated guess - confirming my thoughts;

3. for putting this thread up (along with CC and others) a few weeks back - very much appreciated!

Unless that's Chicken Little, Lenny is your man easily.

Not before Schweigert. And I think I'd still hold Rhodes over Johnson this week. His big play potential is too good and the Jets haven't shown any signs of improving against the run while the CBs have been getting healthier. I'm holding out hope that his tackle numbers rebound in the second half of the season.

I like Grant, I love Little. Avoid the BUF DE, as they may be back healthy to the 3-man rotation this week.

I wouldn't, unless it means filling a vacant lineup spot. In that case I'd grab Bethea.

Okay, I can use some help with my DL. It's a 12-team dynasty league that starts 11 IDP in either a 3-4 or a 4-3 with 4 DB, and I'm looking for short-term help.

My starting DL are all out injured or on bye: Umeniyora/Abraham/Berry

I have Wyms TB-Denney BUF-Keisel PIT set to sub in, but I know Denney has been hurt, and I see Wyms is now hurt. I like Wyms as a prospect, so he's staying on my roster.

Relevant info: Tackle/assist is 3/2, and Sack/half is 6/3. TO & TD plays are generally 6, but FF = 4& FR= 3.

I'm primarily worried about getting guys who are playing, so I'm not going to track down matchups right now- I need to head out.

WW Options:

Myers, DEN

J. Green, NE

Douglas, SF

Thomas, NO

Williams, SD

Fisher, SEA

A. Smith, PIT

R. Smith, TEN

Kelly, OAK

I think I prefer Williams, Fisher, and Kelly of that list.

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows any inside stufff on my injured guys, and chimes in on opinons.

I'm pretty certain that Wyms and Denney are both set to play this week, but we'll keep an eye on the inactives in the AM. You're system is tackle heavy, so the DTs are better than average plays. Mike Myers has been decent, so has Hollis Thomas. Tommy Kelly has been productive, too. I just can't get myself to trust Bryce Fisher, but he's been very consistent in the tackle column all year.Fisher is a good play against the Raiders. Myers may be a slightly better play than Thomas or Kelly but it's close. I don't know that I like Jamal Williams this week.

Need some LB advice for the week. If David Thorton (Tenn) does play, should I start him vs. Jacksonville (which I wouldn't even think about if not for the injury) or should I plan on playing Kawika Mitchell (KC) vs. St Louis? Both appear to have good matchups versus teams that will run quite a bit, but Mitchell has greatly underperformed, but I hate starting players listed as "questionable" even if they do play. Pt structure - Tackles = 2/ Asst = 1/Sack = 5/Pass Def = 2.

Which LB should I start this week?

C. June @NE

A. Brooks @Baltimore

Thanks.

The Titans play a one o'clock game so we should have some idea of Thornton's status before your lineup is due hopefully. I'd much rather have Thornton in the lineup than Mitchell, given Mitchell's inconsistency.

I'd start Cato June. Brooks may sneak a sack in there, but June is likely to be making tackles all day long on NE running backs and should get some coverage plays in against the Pats TE looks.

Have to start 5 DL/LB out of this 7 in our IDP-only league:

Michael Strahan vs. HOU

Bart Scott vs. CIN

Jason Taylor vs. CHI

Derrick Johnson vs. STL

Lofa Tatupu vs. OAK

Ernie Sims vs. ATL

London Fletcher vs. GB

Scoring system:

Tackle Solo (1)

Tackle Assist (0.5)

Sack (4)

Interception (5)

Fumble Force (4)

Fumble Recovery (4)

Touchdown (6)

Safety (5)

Pass Defended (2)

Block Kick (5)

Currently I have Jason Taylor and Ernie Sims on my bench. Sims I do not want to start this week, because of the questions how much he will be used. But I am feeling bad not starting Jason Taylor as the scoring system fits very well. Problem is I just cant see him post big numbers against Chicago.

What do you think? Thx in advance.

I can't argue with benching Sims, although I still think he'll have a good day with this matchup and a banged up defensive line in front of him. The Packers have been a bad matchup for LBs all year long for reasons that are difficult to figure. I think Taylor is too good to bench in this system and I'd bench either Fletcher or Tatupu for him. Since it's hard to bench any player who's ever had a sack in his career against the OAK OL this year, I'd drop Fletcher for Taylor. Close though.

I'm struggling with my DB this week with Rhodes out and some other DBs I'd usually go with out. My main struggle here is who to start as my 2nd DB, I'm teetering between D. Smith, O. Stoutmire, Babineux and heavily leaning against Otogowe. This is a zealots so I'm sure you're familiar with the scoring, we start 2-3 DL, 2-3 LB, 2-3 DB, I'm going with 3 LB and have no questions about that, I need to start either 2dl/3db or 3dl/2db from this bunch: (Players in my starting lineup as of right now in bold)

Williams, Kevin MIN DT (Q) 44.00 6 FA

Adeyanju, Victor STL DE ® 23.00 7 FA

Anderson, Mark CHI DE ® 43.50 7 FA

Schobel, Aaron BUF DE 33.50 8 FA

Taylor, Jason MIA DE 58.40 8 FA

Hall, Deangelo ATL CB 61.30 5 FA

Atogwe, Oshiomogho STL S 43.60 7 FA

Babineaux, Jordan SEA S 18.00 5 FA

Sanders, Bob IND S (Q) 9.50 6 FA

Sharper, Darren MIN S (P) 37.00 6 FA

Smith, Dwight MIN S 41.00 6 FA

Stoutmire, Omar NOS S 31.00 7 FA

If it helps, Smith/Sharper go against SF, Atogwe vs. STL, Babineaux vs. Raiders

Also the DL are Williams vs. SF, Anderson vs. Miami, Shobel vs. GB, Taylor vs. Chicago
I'd start Stoutmire and keep Anderson in narrowly over Adeyanju and Babineaux/Smith for the big play potential.

With Simmons being out, who among these three (Zealots scoring)

Ahmad Brooks

Donnie Edwards

Daryl Smith

London Fletcher

Gracias

Brooks. He's in the middle with lesser playmakers around him, so he should get more cleanup work. SD has so many D players out or dinged that I'm unsure of the situation there. As Jene pinted out above GB has ben bad for LB's, so Fletcher's a no.
