Week 9 WW pick-ups (1 Viewer)

Tyler Thigpen if you're desperate, because he should be a lock to start all year. But don't expect much next week, even though he's returning home, which generally would help.

Maybe Nate Washington? Holmes may miss a few games, not just from a Steelers suspension, but NFL comiish may suspend him too. He caught a touchdown, plus a touchdown that got called back from a holding penalty.

Martellus Bennett is a guy to watch, depending on Witten's ribs. He may only give you one week, with the bye following, but the kid is a good receiver.

Shaun Hill will be a player that will be moving up the on the WW this coming week.

I have JTO as my 3rd behind Brees and Rodgers, so not sure I will waste one of my claims on him.

not josh morgan.
:lmao: I drank that kool aid this week and it tasted horrid.
Don't feel bad. A lot of guys drank from that same punch bowl!
I don't know how to break it to you guys, but that wasn't punch (or kool aid) in that bowl
:pickle:   :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Guilty.Started him over Cotch and lost by 8 points....
Yeah needed a fill in so picked him up instead of Avery.... :wall:

At this point, I gotta think the biggest WW pick-ups are:

Donnie Avery (solidified #2, Bulger likes him, offense is on the rise)

Nate Washington (Roth looked for him often, despite only recording one catch)

Kevin Faulk (with Maroney, Jordan, and Morris out, this guy is the runner by default, and BJGE is not a threat)

Leon Washington (seems like he is a solid part of the weekly game plan)

Ted Ginn Jr. (coming into his own in Miami, will continue to see looks as his next games are Denver, Oakland, Seattle, and STL)

Some of the guys to steer clear from:

Aaron Stecker (Pierre Thomas seems like the guy to own here, not Stecker)

Cedric Benson (has probably the MOST DIFFICULT schedule coming up with Jax, bye, Philly, Pitt, Baltimore - yikes!)

Ricky Williams (Brown is still the #1 by far here; Williams is just a fill-in for when Brown is tired)

Tyler Thigpen (had his best game today, will only go down from here)

Antonio Pittman (Jackson will be back soon)

Ray Rice (don't understand the hype for this guy - he is #3 behind McClain and McGahee).

Shaun McDonald (Lions are too inconsistent; his stats depend on Orvlosky)

Javon Walker (not worth being owned, Raiders too inconsistent)

Kevin Walter (good stats but his good games are too unpredictable)

Chiefs WR Mark Bradley had five catches on seven targets including an 11-yard TD. He saw some action last week, but this week the Chiefs looked in his direction much more. Surprisingly, the Chiefs offense and Tyler Thigpen looked good today. On the road no less. He's someone to consider if you really need a WR. He'll be on the upgrades report coming out tomorrow.

Chad Pennington is still available in about 50% of leagues, and he's got a nice matchup against the Champ Bailey-less Broncos in Week 9. He could be a nice plug-in for Brees/Rivers owners needing a bye week replacement if available.

Ted Ginn Jr. - 175 yards receiving. What else does you have to do?

Lamont Jordan - I just see him taking more snaps than Faulk.

Donnie Avery - Finally a person Marc can throw to.

Marc Bulger - Finally a person he can throw to.

Chad Pennington - He's been averaging 250 yards and 1-2 tds per week with no turnovers. Don't know why people hate him so much.

Nate Washington - Have had 1 TD in the each of the last 3 games. Not sure how long Santonio will be out.

Billy Miller - 10 targets in the SD game.

Tyler Thigpen - He threw the ball 36 times while there was only 16 carries and I think at one point they had the lead?

Kevin Curtis - first game back and got 45 yards, which is okay, but next week they're playing Seattle.

Nice list and nice comments with them as well. Here's how I feel about each of the guys you listed:Donnie Avery - This is the last chance if it's still there and he should be #1 priority. He'll be rostered the rest of the season in pretty much every league.Nate Washington - Depending on Holmes' status he could be a nice play for a couple weeks. Overall I think he'll be back to more of a #3 so not as much value.Kevin Faulk – Always a good bet to get some touches. If the injuries in the NE backfield persist he could be a solid play, especially in PPR.Leon Washington – His touches have been the following: 8, 6, 3, 11, 9, 6, 6. He’s always done well with what he’s been given but the team seems to be loyal to Thomas Jones.Ted Ginn – It’s about time he had a game like this. If Pennington continues to throw his way, I really like his chances. He’d probably be #2 on my list behind Avery.Aaron Stecker – Still a backup behind McAllister plus they have a bye this week. I’d pass.Cedric Benson – I just don’t think he’s a good running back regardless of situation.Ricky Williams – His touches have declined. I’d look elsewhere.Tyler Thigpen – I’m up in the air on him. The job should be his and he has talent around him. So did David Carr.Antonio Pittman – Probably not much value here I agree.Ray Rice – He’s getting the ball enough and producing enough to be useful as a #3 or bye week fill-in. McClain has done nothing the past 3 weeks and I think the coaching staff is starting to gain some confidence in Rice.Shaun McDonald – No Roy Williams puts him at the Lions #2 or #3 with Furrey. I think he’s a nice complement to Megatron and could be useful. He’s produced in the past.Javon Walker – It’s not gonna happen. Don’t waste a roster spot.Kevin Walter – I actually really like this guy. Having Andre Johnson on the other side and Owen Daniels as well should open things up for Walter. Schaub is throwing the ball very well and Walter could be a nice pickup. Even if he’s already rostered the asking price shouldn’t be too high. Some others that may be on waiver wires that are just personal likes of mine:Derrick Ward – So far has not gotten fewer than 50 total yards in a game. If you’re desperate for some production from the RB spot, you could do much worse despite him being a backup. He’s looked explosive when he’s touched the ball.Jamaal Charles – Just more of a gut instinct. I liked the kid at Texas and Kolby Smith has looked terrible. With LJ being summoned to speak to Goodell he’s somebody to keep an eye on.

I did not even think of Pennington but he is a great pick-up.

His schedule rest of the way is excellent for him too. Next week against Denver should be a shootout (Denver gives up a ton of points), week 10 against Seattle is an easy one, the Raiders at home is cake (look at what Flacco did to them - and Flacco caught a 43 yard pass!), New England week 12 at home is tough, week 13 against the Rams will be easy, week 14 in Buffalo will be rough, and week 15 against SF is great as well (look at what Seneca Wallace and Leonard Weaver did yesterday in SF).

Chad Pennington is still available in about 50% of leagues, and he's got a nice matchup against the Champ Bailey-less Broncos in Week 9. He could be a nice plug-in for Brees/Rivers owners needing a bye week replacement if available.
Picked up Orton about 3 weeks ago just for this date (Brees owner).

Yeah, Orton is definitely a solid play if he is still available. However, I would be worried that the Lions will let Forte run all over them, limiting the need for Orton to pass as much.

K.Faulk, BJ G-E.
Not Green-Ellis. He averaged 1.8 rushing yards against one of the worst run defenses in the league. New England gave up on him and went almost strictly with Faulk. He's worthless.
Way too early to give up on BJGE, imo.He was used in short yardage situations mostly yesterday.I would consider him an ADD right now.

I'm targeting in this order:

Avery- Not a chance in Hell that I get him

Ginn Jr.

Camarillo

the last two face Denver in week 9 in what could be a high scoring game.

Which Miami WR would you grab first? (Steve Smith is on bye for me)

I worried about this with Campell this week...but he still managed over 300 yds and at least 1 td. The Lions are moving the ball a little better on off so maybe they can keep it respectable and Orton will throw enough to get me 15-20 pts (he avg 17 pt/g)

Jamaal Charles is an interesting guy. He's averaging 5.5 yards per carry but has only gotten it 29 times, or four per game. However, here's a good stat: 17 receptions. Given that his playing time figures to only improve (especially in the short term with LJ out), he could be a guy that ends the year with 40 catches.

I'd probably stay away until Germ gives him the rock at least 10 times in a game, but if one leaves it that late he'll probably get picked up before one gets the chance.

Re: Charles, per Fanball:

Charles injury update Monday 10/27, 9:35 AM CT

It has been determined that Jamaal Charles suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's battle with the Jets, according to the KC Star.

Our View: The team is yet to decide how much time the rookie may miss. Kolby Smith's fantasy value could go up, but will be determined by Larry Johnson's playing status for Week 9.

no kidding. I bought it, hook line and sinker too. Bad thing is, I dropped Avery to get him :wall:
Let's tell it like it is fellas: it just as easily could've been Morgan the stud and Avery the dud this week. Their situations and talent levels are pretty similar, after all.The guys who guessed right will no doubt argue the point, but predicting WW diamonds in the rough is a total crapshoot, and no moreso than with rookie WRs.

 I picked up Avery off of waivers (#4) last week after I saw him play in the Cowboys game. He had STUD written all over to me. Both Antonio Bryant and Morgan were both available. According to Rotoworlds priority pickups last week they had 1. Bryant 2. Morgan 3. AveryI decided to take matters it into my own hands and picked up Avery because I only had room on my roster for one and I knew Bryant would get picked up for sure but I like Avery more because of his explosiveness and the fact Tampa runs the ball to much for me.Sure enough Bryant got picked up but Morgan was still available. After reading another Rotoworld article about Morgan's studliness and his match up (his match up almost made me pull the trigger), I almost dropped Avery to pick up Morgan instead. It could have been the other way because of the high endorsement given by Rotoworld but I just had a good feeling about Avery and held on to him.Happy camper, but let me tell you I agonized over keeping Avery or picking up Morgan all the way until the games started.

I like the Bulger and Pennington suggestions. I also like MATT RYAN who has @ OAK, NO, DEN, CAR, @SD, and @NO over his next 6. Ryan has been quietly putting up 20+ points in our CBS league the past 3 games and he seems to be lasering onto Roddy White right now. Burner shoiuld be able to run very successfully vs. all of those D's except maybe CAR - opening up the field for Ryan. He's a good plug-in if you need him right now and also for the rest of the season IMO. .

As a Brees owner I just picked him up

Matt Jones and Gararrd in my league

I've got Brees and Colston on a bye- these two should fill in nicely. Hope I can grab them! My opponent also has no QB and needs a WR... I have a higher WW position so hopefully I'll grab both

you know I drafted Ginn but dropped him, do you think he is really worth picking up now or was it a fluke?
Fluke may be too strong but I'd expect several more stinkers mixed in with the good games the rest of the way.Ginn represents a textbook case of points-chasing, IMO.

Roy Williams (He was dropped after last week's game WTF?!)

Avery

I'll be dropping Holmes for 1 of them & Moore for the other. I'm keeping Morgan on my roster. (Keeper league & we can keep 2 rookies)

I'm picking up the Rams defense. They've shown big improvement in sack and turnover production the last month, and they have a fantastic fantasy playoffs schedule.

Their value will depend on your scoring system, but they're quietly the #1 defense in my league over the last three weeks.
