Weekly floor for Cribbs? (1 Viewer)

With Cribbs returning kicks an punts what do you think the minimum points he will achieve on a weekly basis. Lets use the example of 20 yards per point pr/kr. Also what do you think his expanded role in the offense will be, and will it effect his return duties. I think he has a min of 4 with huge upside in this format. What are your thoughts?

I drafted Cribbs as a WR5 in two leagues, no return yardage but pts for any TD. IIRC, Cribbs had 8 catches for about 77 yards in games 2 and 3 of the preseason, which as a guess is about 5 or 6 quarters of actual playing time.

Even without injury, I think there is a small chance Cribbs could become a starting WR at some point this year. I will watch him and his playing time closely when the season kicks off. So, I took a last round flyer on him based on this suppositiion. If his preseason touches tranfers to regular games, he could be good for 5 catches a game or more. Anytime he touches the ball he can break one.

I formats that reward return yards, he has to be a top 3 as a returner if you also get his other points as well.

Im expecting:

Rushing: 600 yds/2 TDs (no idea how to measure wildcat attempts)

Receiving: 600 yds/ 5 TDs/ 60 Receptions

Returning: 1200 yds/ 2 TDs

So weekly:

Rushing: 37.5 yds

Receiving: 37.5 yds TD every other game

Returning: 75 yds

He's just not that good of a wr. I owned him last year and got really excited when they started incorporating him into the offense...until I saw him play.

He'll be good rushing the ball a few times a game in gadget plays but nothing huge.

He's regularly going to give 4-6 points a game.

Not going to be consistent by any means. He will definitely have those games where he puts numbers up, but also many games where he disappears.

Cribbs has been talking up his WR game, I realize its a lot of hype but he apparently has been working with Seneca and the rest of the offense in sort of new option package (Cyclone Flash, Lol branding) that he (cribbs) thinks they will use it a lot.

Cribbs is the 3rd WR on the team. There has been talk for years about him breaking out as a WR but it's just not going to happen. He has way too many responsibilities on the team. How many guys play:

KR

PR

ST gunner

WR

RB

QB

S?

Yeah... not many guys. I would probably project 30-40 receptions. The last time we had a guy with over 60 rec? 2007, Braylon and Kellen. Leading receivers last year? Harrison and Massaquoi, tied with 34 rec each.

I hate betting against my team but I'm just not seeing Cribbs making an impact at WR.

Should check out the returner thread, or the Josh Cribbs thread, hes not a gunner or defensive player anymore he talked about it on the jim rome show yesterday. He is the #2 WR now and the starting KR/PR and that is it atm, they will be running the Wildcat and other gadgets more this year and he will be a part of all of them.He is essentially THE offensive utility player now (They say if he blows up they will take him off returning, but I dont see that ever happening since he just got his 3 year 20 mil contract)

Huh, I did not know that about him not being a gunner, thanks for that info. He is definitely the #3 WR though, Robiskie is #2 (even according to the official depth charts).I would still caution the hype about him as I can't see Mangini calling more than 3-4 gadget plays a game. I guess we'll see though! More Cribbs is almost always better for the team :football:

True story.

They have Massaquoi and robiskie at WR , personally i think they are both worthhless .

So Cribbs might end up with 4 - 5 TDs receiving, 2 - 3 rushung and 2 - 3 on returns ...

No, Massa ain't "worthless" -- he's a decent fantasy WR2. Also, reports are that the light has come on for Robiske. (wait & see on that one.)At any rate, expect to see Cribbs put up better numbers this year than last. He will be used more on offense at WR. Unfortunately, they don't seem inclined to try him at RB, where he has excelled on every carry in the wildcat.

Cribbs attempted 3.4 rushes per game last season- since some of the "gadget" plays involved him handing off or passing he pretty much averaged 4 gadgets a game last season. However in the 2nd half of the season Crbbs averaged 6 rushes per game (5.25 during their 4 game WS at the end of the season). Will this year be different? Probably but given they brought in two very versatile players in Wallace and Hillis they might be looking to incorporate more this year. I certainly expect them to turn to it heavily if Delhomme stinks.

IRT to Coverage duties, is that all Cribbs has been removed from? I heard on the XM FantasySports channel last night, Fanball show I believe, that he was off kick/punt return duties completely.

Being removed from coverage duties is nothing but if off special teams completely then that makes him about worthless in my opinion. He was actually the top scoring WR in my leagues system last year due to the punt/kickoff yardage he racked up.

He off coverage. He's on returns. If you actually heard someone suggest that Cribbs is off return duties it is akin to saying Peyton Manning is off passing duties. Whoever suggested it is none too bright.
