Weis to KC (1 Viewer)

Just heard on Mike and Mike about 1/2 hour ago, Weis may be waiting to see what Lovie decides in Chicago. May be interested in that job.

Should bode well for KC offense next year. Bump up Bowe & Cassell a bit. Charles is already super high on boards. If they could grab Okung at #5, and slide Albert to guard, KC's offense would be pretty solid imo.

I think Clausen will be gone @ #1 to the Rams.
Didn't they give Bulger $65 million 3 years ago? $25+ million guaranteed? I guess that's about $8-9 million a year although I'm sure its even more than that...he made $35-40 million over the last 3 seasons and has thrown a total of 27 TDs in 3 years...he has been as big a bust as Jamarcus Russell the last 3 years as far as ROI...he has to be up there on the lists. Maybe they do go QB. Not sure Clausen is the answer.

Would be a great signing if KC can nab Weis. Great offensive coordinator.
I 100% agree. I am pissed, because I really wanted him in Chicago. I knew it probably wouldn't happen, but I think he is a awesome offensive coach.Bump up Cassel and Bowe for sure.

Cassel's contract is newer and bigger than Bulger's so drafting a QB in either city doesn't make too much finicial sense. I can imagine St Louis releasing Bulger but I can't imagine KC cutting ties to Cassel without a trade.

Jimmy Clausen selection or no way?
:) Cassel can be decent, they need other pieces a lot more.
:goodposting: KC lead the league in the # of dropped passes - Cassel was not to blame for that. KC was third in the league for # of sacks given up - Cassel was not to blame for that either (meaning, he wasn't holding onto the ball too long). I think adding Weis will help in the long term, but until they can start catching the ball and keep people from immediately being in the QB's face it doesn't really matter what innovative plays they add to their playbook.

Bulger will not be with the team next year IMO. Rams will pick someone that can be the face of the franchise and will chase what Ryan and Flacco did a couple of years ago. The O-Line is not nearly as bad as everyone thinks. They spent alot of money on the line but they were completely banged up this year. They have 3 solid starters in Smith, Brown and Bell. Setterstrom is servicable. Alex Barron is horrible and will likely noy be resigned next year so I am not sure what happens at RT. In a perfect world, The Rams find someone in the top 10 that falls in love with SUH and take McCoy, Bradford or Clausen and get another couple picks. Also from PFT:Marc Bulger could be donePosted by Michael David Smith on January 7, 2010 8:07 AM ETThe career of St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger may be over.Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports, citing multiple sources, that Bulger is considering retiring. There's a good chance that Bulger won't be back in St. Louis even if he does decide he wants to play in 2010. But Bulger, who will turn 33 this year, has suffered through multiple injuries and seen his play decline over the last few seasons, may have decided he doesn't want to play anymore, anywhere. If Bulger is done for good, the record will show that he made two Pro Bowls while completing 62.1 percent of his passes, for 22,814 yards, with 122 touchdowns and 93 interceptions.

Crennel to follow.
Is this speculation based on Schefter's report or do you have inside information? All word out of KC is that Romeo is on vacation until the 11th and that he and Haley have not spoken. Michael Smith of ESPN was on local radio this morning say that Romeo not a lock to end up in KC, stating that the Giants, Dolphins, and Bills were all in the mix.Crennel lives in South Florida so it seems to me that the Dolphins would have the best shot considering his relationship with Parcels. That said I hope you're right.

I don't know anymore than you do, only that I heard a report that Crennel was a leading candidate to go to KC. Haven't really looked into it further.

I'm fascinated to see if Crennel also lands in KC, it'll be a fascinating examination of just how much Belichick is the Patriots versus his surrounding cast.

Not that this is the right thread for Rams talk but -- There was an article in the paper this morning saying that Bulger was looking to retire and even if he did not he would likely be cut. There would be a net savings on the cap either way for the Rams to the tune of somewhere around 6MM. The article also said that the Rams do not believe there is a franchis QB in the draft. Not sure I would agree with that. However, there has been no talk of Clausen here in STL. All the chatter has been on the guy from NE as the pick for the Rams at 1.

I love this news for Cassel and Bowe.

Fix that O-line and maybe get some help at TE....and they could be a lot more productive next year.

I think the Chiefs have to go OLINE with their pick at 5. Russell Okung would be a good pick. He's not a "can't miss" prospect but he is very solid at pass protection. I'm hearing its a relatively weak year for OL so who knows what happens.

I like the sounds of all this, but with Haley, Weis, Crennel.... one of the first things I thought of was (seriously no pun intended)

too many chiefs and not enough indians......

thats some firepower in the coaching staff and hopefully as a young coach Haley could handle it and Pioli keeps his thumb on them to stay focused in their roles.....

I'm not impressed. Can't put my finger on it. But put me on the list of people that thinks this will not work out well for KC or Weis.

Relax, Weiss will not eat Haley. However, Haley will be the HC on a team that has two coaches (Weiss and Crennel) that have more HC experience than him. Sets up a potential power struggle in the future where Pioli could promote Weiss and fire Haley. Weird situation since typically a HC will cast off the coordinators when things start to go badly and he will have a hard time doing that in this situation since Weiss and Crennel are more proven than Haley.

Not sure why you guys think Weis is so great. That ND offense hasn't looked very good despite being a recruiting powerhouse.

... And there goes RomeoPosted by Albert Breer January 11, 2010 06:10 PM Last week, Charlie Weis came off the assistant coach market. And now Romeo Crennel is joining him, and former co-workers Scott Pioli and Todd Haley in Kansas City, according to Vinny DiTrani of the Bergen Record. The four men worked together with the Jets from 1997-99, and as all of you know, Crennel, Weis and Pioli were each part of three championships here in New England. So now, those three, and ex-Patriot offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, populate the AFC West. Crennel was also under consideration for the Giants defensive coordinator position, and might've even garnered interest from the Dolphins, who dismissed Paul Pasqualoni today as their defensive coordinator, if he were still available.
