Welker vs. Chambers (1 Viewer)

Chambers can't beat double coverage :(

He's like Deion Branch with more physical ability but the same weaknesses.

Chambers seems more likely to have a better day as the Jets have given up something like 11 passing tds so far. The only problem for Chambers (and Welker) is that the Jets can't stop the run either.

I have Driver, Jennings, Wayne, and Gabriel all on byes so I had to make a WW move and he was avaialble.

I am hoping for maybe 5-7 points from him...not too much but with Holt, and Evans starting I am also hoping I don't need a lot from him either.

In a ppr league I am starting Welker over R. Moss this week. He's had a lot of balls thrown his way and has been very consistantly putting up solid numbers, especially in a ppr scoring format. Welker has been out producing Chambers, I expect that to continue this week vs the Jets.

I gave up on Chambers. He tends to vanish during games, which is really frustrating from a fantasy perspective. I think the guy has no heart. He has the physical talent, but unlike a Steve Smith (for instance), he doesn't get the most out of it.

Welker seems to have a real affinity with Joey Harrington. Culpepper seemed to like him too. I think he will end up leading the team in receptions and yards by the end of the season. Chambers will probably have more TDs, but you can't count on that if you are going to win consistently in standard scoring leagues.

This is it for Chambers, if he doesn't produce this week I'm done with him. I'm tempted to take him out and put K. Johnson is his place despite his poor matchup.

Every time I say that he scores a TD and earns another start.

It looked like Chambers had plenty of targets last week. If some of those are caught/not broken up this week he will have the better week. I think it just boiled down to Welker getting more of the shorter looks that gave him so many catches. We shall see.

This is going to be the week that Chambers' owners will be rewarded for their patience.

I am sitting Galloway and Closton in favor of Chambers.

I think having the entire week under his belt working with Harrington will be a big help.

Harrington played decently last week. His confidence should be up and the Jets don't have a corner capable of covering Chambers.

I like Welkers chances tomorrow (considering plugging him in rather that Eric Parker). But, someone in the assistant coach's forum told me the weather is supposed to be bad. I didn't see Thur or Fri weather updates on the FBG site this week. Anyone else know what's on tap as far as the weather is concerned?

Weather.com says:

Partly Cloudy

57°F Feels Like:55°F

Probability of Precipitation: 20%

Wind: From the West at 9 mph

But the other guy seemed pretty certain that it would be raining.

I'd trust weather.com over "some guy"

Or else, go to a NY paper online and look for their weather report.

Why is Welker so low on the cheatsheet?
I don't care for the cheatsheets, they don't seem to be very accurate. I find the sos much more helpful when setting my lineups.

Dolphins luv bein wet

I give the edge to Chambers. Welker is coming off a great week, and I picked him up off the wire, but I'm just not convinced I should start him over Moulds (to cover Driver's bye week). I'd prefer to see him string together more good games. (I also like Moulds' possibilities with Roy Willaims over paying double team attention to Andre Johnson.)

Chambers is more talented and experienced, which is why he should clearly be higher on cheatsheets/projections you can access online. I also think he's just due, so I going to start him over Lee Evans (who seems due to have a poorer game).

So the point here is that I think the guy that I'd start over Evans has a lot better chance than the guy I'd sit for Moulds. Solid vote for Chambers from me.

I bumped this thread to show the following numbers:

2007 Stats....

67 for 687 Welker

59 for 677 Chambers

I was surprised to see these numbers,

I thought others may be as well.

Wow. Chambers did manage to explode for 4 TD's to just 1 for Welker.

Not me. As a Chambers owner 4 years running, I paid attention to the Miami passing game.Welker had value because he was generally close to the LOS, within 10 yards or so. Maybe 12 yards. This is also known as the "limits of Joey Harrington's range". Welker did an excellent job, I can't remember seeing him drop the ball. But ask any Lions fan, Joey is afraid to throw it down the field. My memories of Chambers are him 20 yards down the field, pulling up, watching some white guy in a security jacket make a spectacular catch 10 yards out of bounds. I find it hard to believe he had that many catches.

Come on, you're painting Chambers if *FAR* too rosy of a light. Chambers was flat-out BRUTAL last season, and has been wildly overrated for years. Here are his catch%s for his career-2001- 53%2002- 52%2003- 49%2004- 50%2005- 49%2006- wait for it, because you aren't going to believe this...39%. I am not making this up, Chris Chambers caught THIRTY NINE PERCENT of the balls that were thrown his way last year. His 39% Catch% last year was the worst in the league. Immediately above him on the list were Rashied Davis (39%), Brandon Lloyd (41%), Ashley Lelie (41%), and Alvis Whitted (43%).And that theory that Chris Chambers' catch% was so low because he ran so many deep routes doesn't hold any water, either. If he ran a lot of deep routes, his YPC would be pretty solid. It wasn't- he averaged 11.5 ypc last year. Let's compare this to the other cellar-dwellers. Rashied Davis averaged 13.8 ypc, Brandon Lloyd averaged 15.9 ypc, Ashley Lelie averaged 15.4 ypc, and Alvis Whitted averaged 11.1 ypc.In other words, the only guy last year who was a comp for Chambers in terms of both catch% and ypc was Alvis Whitted. ALVIS WHITTED. A bad QB might make you look worse than you really are, but no QB on the planet could make a decent WR look like Alvis Whitted. Heck, Calvin Johnson had a 47% passer throwing to him last year and he still managed to look decent, didn't he? Heck, even Roy Williams managed to catch 48% of the passes thrown his way by Joey Harrington, and to average 15.3 ypc, and he a 2nd-year pro instead of a 6th-year vet!I have said for years that Chambers is far and away the most overrated WR in the entire NFL (actually, the most overrated WR in at least the past decade, ahead even of Az-Zahir Hakim- speaking of Hakim, he had a 54% catch% and 17.2 ypc with Harrington throwing him the ball. Just FYI).Chris Chambers is a heck of an athlete, but that's really nothing more than a nice way of saying that his routes are sloppy, his hands are BRUTAL, his attention span is nonexistant, and he disappears for long stretches of time... but oh man, does he put up some pretty highlight clips.
