Went to the Dentist today. (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
My dentist recently retired and sold his office. He was my fiance's uncle and a real nice guy. Today was the first time I went to the new dentist and it was weird.

When I finally met the guy, a couple things struck me as odd:

1) Guy looked old enough that you'd think he'd be retiring soon. Why buy a new place?

2) The office now offers Botox injections. And it's apparent that the old guy uses his own product.

3) After introducing himself to me, his first sentence to me is "How about these ### #### Muslims?"

It's such a hassle to find a new dentist, I'll probably just keep seeing the racist.

Wow. I'd walk out and I'm not even Muslim (although I did vote for Obummer).

I guess Im "lucky" in that my health provider is my insurance company and has clinics. Ive never found it hard to find a dentist. Do most people have this issue?

I went back to my old dentist. 4 x rays and a great cleaning. No cavities or issues. Had to pay some out of pocket but glad I went back.

Still laugh when I think about someone here saying brushing with gritty toothpaste is about the same as a cleaning.

If he didn't poop on your chest he's not a real dentist. You may have been scammed.
:goodposting:

I'd never open with a negative comment towards any race/creed or color.. I get right into what type of dump you prefer on your chest (soft, runny, you know the standard stuff).. and if you're not into that I'll discuss your Roth IRA investments and/or chastise you for irresponsible purchases for small chat.

Botox... i see more and more dentists getting into that... and I really don't understand it.. there's enough money in doing great work on teeth.. why not stick with that?

I'm going to my dentist today for a cleaning. She's Indian so maybe she'll asking me about those ####### Pakistanis.

I had a pretty good dentist retire. He was a military guy and didn’t see the necessity for novocaine, but overall, he knew what he was doing.

I usually choose my dentist based on how hot the assistants are and how frequently they rub up against me while I'm in the chair.
I hired for hotness (well, and my perception of their niceness/customer service skills)

Except in rare cases, I can teach people to do the dental procedures right, but I can't teach hotness/customer service skills.

It's like in the NBA where you can't teach height.

It's served me well except for the one assistant I porked back in '03 because dem ####### were just way too big and delicious.

I think most dentist are pissed off that they didn't have what it takes to be a doctor
you know i never applied to medical school or wanted to be a real doctor.

I do kick myself from time to time for not studying hard enough to be an orthodontist or an endodontist... that's where the real money is... braces and root canals.

You mean that's where you really get to #### the customer. At least when it comes to orthodontist.

Larry Liddle: It seems to me lookin' around, that it's almost all women workin' here; and that they're all very pretty. Is that common?

Charlie's Angel #1: Well... Congressman Wilson, he has an expression. He says uhh, "You can teach 'em to type, but you can't teach 'em to grow t its."

Last time I changed dentists my new one looked me up on her client directory and asked me on a date.

Your new guy sucks.

Dental offices asking for medical insurance for cleanings a thing now? Has never happened to me in my life until today. Have visited this office a handful of times over the past 2-3 years for cleanings.

Me: "Hello. I'm here for my cleaning appointment" (Presents updated dental insurance card)
Receptionist: "This is your dental insurance card"
Me: "Yes"
Receptionist: "Do you have your medical insurance card?"
Me: "I'm here for a cleaning. Could you advise why you need my medical insurance when I've presented my dental insurance card?"
Receptionist: (Long awkward silence followed by no answer)
Me: (Puzzled look :shrug:and walked out)

Still have no clue why they asked. Guess in the market for a new dentist.

I miss when this place was in its prime. Might have to start reading old threads that I may have missed.

With a post like that nowadays, Dentist would be having a nice season :bye:

Never have had dentist ask for medical insurance either for a cleaning. Seems odd to ask for beyond dental insurance for that

Paging @Dentist 👀😢

As an insurance agent, the only thing I can think of is if you’re under 18 where “pediatric dental” is embedded/included in ACA compliant health insurance (though subject to the health insurance deductible)

Maybe they thought you looked young?

Thanks. I will have to look into that.

I did a Google search and it indicated they may want to bill health insurance for revenue purposes? (I guess instead of billing my dental insurance?)

Was just weird as I simply went in for cleaning and been going there for 5+ years and they acted adamant wanting my health insurance when I walked in (I don't even think they entered my new dental insurance info into their system when I handed it to them). I may look young-ish* but not anywhere close to 18 (and they have my DOB on file).

Im enrolled in a high deductible health insurance plan and not wanting to pay something ridiculous out of pocket for a cleaning when my dental insurance covers the typical yearly cleanings/exams

I was just a bit curious as no one I've spoken to have been asked to give their health insurance (and not dental insurance) for a cleaning. I'd maybe understand if I were undergoing procedure or something.

No numbing injection = deal breaker for things like root canals or any invasive procedure, unless it’s just a cleaning. Obviously no one needs numbing for that.
