In a quick clip at the end of half time, the camera was showing Dallas coming out of their locker room. It appeared that the refs were frisking some of the Cowboys. I wasn't really paying much attention so I may not have seen what I thought I did.
They certainly were. KEEP IN MIND THE NFL NETWORK WON'T DIG INTO THAT STORY ANY MORE - AS THEY ARE AN NFL PROPERTY.
I just went back on the TIVO - they frisked Colombo and Spears - so it's not like it was only the offensive or defensive linemen they were feeling up.
ProFootballTalk.com thinks it may have been for recording devices (so the Cowboys could hear the 'calls' from the opposition). I don't buy it.
It certainly was odd though...
Maybe just checking for silicone on the jerseys - who knows. The Cowboys are getting OWNED tonight.
Who would have thought the Cowboys wouldn't make the playoffs. Hell, the Patriots are gonna make it with a few of their star players out (Tom Brady and Adalius Thomas)
I just view it. I DVRed the 2nd half and helped the Mrs wrap some gifts. Ref seemed to checking just linemen for silicone-type substances on the sides of their jerseys. Perhaps they always do that. I'm unsure.

Chad Brown, former Pro Bowl linebacker with the Steelers and Seahawks, says that the officials check prior to each half for illegal stuff on the jerseys, such as any compounds aimed at making them slippery.

Actualy, it wasn't the ref. It was the Umpire. As done before the start of every game and atfter halftime of every game played in College or the NFL for at least 10 years. The Umpires "pre game" job is to make sure there are balls for the game (not an issue in the NFL or D1A), and to check players uniforms and casts/braces worn by players.

Before the game, the Umpire with assistance of other officials shall inspect the equipment of players. He may order any changes he deems necessary to any proposed equipment which is considered dangerous or confusing (5-3). This authority extends throughout the game.
Too bad they don't apply that part about "confusing" when some of these teams wear hideously God-awful throw back jerseys.
