Wes Welker this week? (1 Viewer)

I am a little nervous as to wether or not to play welker. I have not seen to this point is he being covered by Revis? I could see Revis covering Branch since he is more the deeper threat.

There is a lot of discussion on the jets vs. pats thread about this but when asked who he was covering, Revis said "Brady".

I can't imagine Revis would be on Welker. Why would you have your best cover corner covering the short and intermediate zones?

Because they don't send anyone deep??Revis said he'll split time between Welker and Branch. Look for Cromartie and Revis to play their sides, and maybe mix it up a little. Tate won't get deep though.Welker should do fine on shorter routes like he always does.

Of course on occasion they do. For the most part, their passing game is 20 yards and in.

Revis and Rex were both on ESPN radio last night and neither would say who Revis would cover. As good as Revis has looked though, Welker would still be a difficult matchup for him as he runs short quick routes and is much stronger than his size would indicate. Revis strength is that he's strong enough and fast enough to cover the big fast WRs downfield and makes plays for the ball when its in the air - covering quick short routes is not his strength. Welker should still see his share of targets and grab a decent amount of balls. He may not have any big plays, but i ppr leagues would still make a solid start.ETA" Personally I doubt he covers Welker much at all anyway. I think he sticks on Branch and maybe slides to Hernandez occaisonally. Expect the Jets to mix and match coverages against a team like teh Pats that don't have a "go to" guy.

While we're on Wes...does he seem healthier/stronger now than he did in the beginning of the season...regaining Brady's confidence? Is this why we've seen this points bump lately?

I believe thats the case as it usually is with ACL tears. Not only that but I read a few weeks back that the Pats were going to thier WR's (bread and butter) more from now on. They actually have too. I am starting Wes from now on.
