West Virginia sophomores (1 Viewer)

Steve Slaton and Pat White look too small to play in the NFL to me.

White, in particular, looks like he'd take a real beating as an NFL quarterback. Slaton looks like a scatback type.

They both are only sophomores, so they could certainly bet bigger and stronger.

Thoughts?

Slaton is 5'10" 195 lbs. I wouldn't call him too small. If he adds about 10 or 15 lbs, his size would be pefect. I'd rather have a guy who has the frame to add a few lbs than a 5'"7"" or 5"8"" guy who is limited as to how much weight he can gain without losing speed.

:goodposting: Slaton isn't all that different in size than Tiki Barber or Warrick Dunn at that point in their life. The kid looks like a playa to me.

:goodposting: Slaton is an extremely hard working player, he's gifted with amazing game speed, and he plays bigger than his size. He's just scratching the surface of his potential. I'll be shocked if he's not a first rounder. Right now, I would only put Darren McFadden ahead of him among non-draft eligible backs.I'm not sure about Pat White's future as a QB in the NFL, but he would make quite a WR.

I directionally agree with this. However, college/high school height/weight measurements are about as reliable as self-proclaimed 4.2 forty-yard dash times. Rule of Thumb - Subtract 1 inch/10 lbs for a RB to approximate actual player size.

I have watched them both the last two years and i am still trying to figure out how they will be neither was a big time recruit but it seems like no one can keep up with them. I understand they are both really good coachable kids so that seem to point to good things for them. But College players have put up good numbers under this system and haven't produced at a higher level in the past. i am just glad we will have then for at least one and more likely two more years!!!.

i just really hate when pro prospects are involved with teams that run the option

i think its a play and system philosophy that doesnt really let you guage the players true talents

i wonder how good slaton would be if they lined him up in the I-Formation and the other team KNEW the ball was coming to him, rather than on these option zone reads where he gets it 99 percent of the time.

Im just not sure how he translates to the NFL
