Wet Hot American Summer - starts Netflix 7/31 (1 Viewer)

I think people may have mentioned this in the Netflix thread, but I can't find a thread dedicated to just this. Trailer (salty language) looks borderline asinine and borderline brilliant, which should mean it's gonna be amazing. Whole cast is back, really pumped for this.

Anybody know what time the episodes will be available?

I canceled plans for Friday night and worked it so my wife has to cook dinner that night. Binge watching all 8 (?) episodes. Can't frigging wait.

My wife seems to think it's gonna be 3am ET on Friday morning, so a midnight release on the west coast. I have no idea, I think maybe I'll just keep refreshing my Netflix screen starting at 11:59 pm on Thursday and see what happens.

Based on everything else they do, I think your wife is right. Whenever a movie/show is removed it's at 3am ET.

I thought the movie was ok, but I am going to check this series out since I was sent off to sleep away camp every summer until I was 14 or 15 so I am kind of interested movies/shows about it.

We're getting together with friends later tonight and banging out a bunch of episodes. Anybody get started early and have any feedback?

It's bad, but I was surprised by it. I thought it would be like a reunion or something, but they're just remaking an extended version of the first movie as if 15 years hadn't passed. That's funny all by itself.

Had never seen the movie and decided to watch all 8 episodes this weekend. I didn't get it. Wanted to like it so bad because of how many stars are in the cast, but it was bad.

Watched the first 2 episodes. I'm all for over the top dumb humor, but that was way too dumb for me. I'm out.

Do I need to watch the movie first?
It's probably a good idea.
Two episodes in and I'd say it's almost required. A lot of great shtick that references the movie. Watched it last week in anticipation of the series, very glad I did. Two good ones off the top of my head from Episode 2 that had me dying:

The girl who goes into the stall when she gets her period and comes out as Abby Bernstein

H. Jon Benjamin drowning in the ooze with the talking can of veggies (he voiced the can in the movie)
There were a bunch more I don't remember right now. Anyway, two episodes in, loving it so far.

I have not seen the movie.

Feel like it's a bunch of famous actors trolling me.

Maybe need to watch the movie because my wife and I were saying it's like some inside joke we're not in on.

We watched the full 8 episodes but haven't seen the movie. Some parts had me laughing but overall I think it was weak. 4/10

Loved the movie, but found the series quite lacking. Too long with too many plots that I didn't even care about, and not enough laugh-out-loud moments. The movie is much more compact. I would say that most of the State guys are a little lacking in terms of writing narrative arc and are better with the spoof stuff. The series seems too long to sustain on the spoof stuff, without enough jokes.

Liked the Cera parts and thought that the first episode and last 3 episodes were better than the others. The other stuff in the middle kind of dragged.

I thought the first episode was better than the movie (which WAS terrible) but that isn't saying much. Seems like an excuse for these actors to goof off more than anything else. At least Paul Rudd is funny.

Watched the first 6 episodes the first night then was away for the weekend so we didn't finish them up yet, but I'm loving it. If you don't like the movie, you won't like this. If you liked the movie, you'll like this.

There was also an inside joke in one of the middle episodes that referenced the only funny scene in "They Came Together" re: Chris Meloni's Halloween costume.

I also didn't really like the movie. It had some funny moments, but at the end I was disappointed and felt like I wasted my time. I think it works a lot better as a show though and have enjoyed it so far (3 or 4 episodes in).

You're my girlfriend, and we're in a serious relationship. :lmao:
