What are the best situations for a rookie wideout to land in for 2010 (1 Viewer)

I'm looking over the top rated wideouts over at Nationalfootballpost.com and I am noticing that there are a lot of 6'2" 220lbs guys out there. I always like to look at guys predraft and most sites do a pretty darn good job of ranking them by talent. But as we all know, talent is only part of the equation. You need opportunity, you need coaching, you need a QB.

I doubt many thought that Austin Collie would win you more fantasy games than Heyward-Bey back in early April 2009. But with the benefit of hindsight, it is pretty easy to piece together what happened. Collie got paired with a top QB in a top situation because of injuries and the propensity of the Colts to spread out the defense. Hey-Bey went to a team with a bush-league QB and couldn't catch a cold. His coach beats up assistants, and there is no end in sight.

So taking talent out of the equation, where are the best spots in the short term for rookie wideouts to land.

One of these big bodied guys is going to light it up this season.

New England. Although Tate might fit there as a smaller bodied guy.

tampa & miami both have young talented qb's and a need for a wr1. carolina had a young qb who showed promise and need a complement to ss. those are the 3 best places off the top of my head

Chargers might not be too bad.

Jackson RFA will probably be re-signed, but currently only contracted through 2010

Floyd RFA only contracted through 2010

Naanee only contracted through 2010

Davis signed thru 2012

Byrd cut a week or so ago

Chambers gone last year.

The opportunity is there.

I agree with those named already - Chicago, Miami, Tampa and SD

I also like Baltimore, reminds me of Pittsburgh when they drafted Holmes

Atlanta - someone will be the #2 when Gonzo retires in a couple years

Denver if Marshall left

On the other hand if the Bryant goes to say the Jets or the Panthers would that mean he's no longer worthy of the 1.01 in a rookie draft?

Not to mention talent at the QB spot. But with Jackson presumably coming back and Gates there, a rookie WR would get no higher than third in the pecking order.

 Longer term (as in, post-2010), I like the Jets for him a lot. Panthers maybe not as much but it isn't bad either. Honestly, if Bryant going to a "bad" spot means he drops on your board, you're probably better off trading the pick for a veteran WR in the 12-20 range.

I've just taken on a franchise that is in severe need of a rebuild and so I'm not very scared of not getting instant production from Bryant and I totally agree that in a few years the Jets will be throwing more. I just wonder if I could justify Matthews with the 1.01.

I'm actively shopping the pick though and looking to move back to maybe 3 or 4 and pick up either some extra picks or players.

regardless of situation IMO you can justify Mathews as 1.01.
