What are the Eagles waiting for? (1 Viewer)

GRIDIRON ASSASSIN

All that cap space...

and no 'big' signings yet.

and WTF is going on with T.O.???? When are they going to finally release him?

Are they waiting for the Cowboys to spend some money first to try to 'freeze him out' of their division?

i think they will wait until the last second before the bonus kicks in, regardless of the cowboys. anybody know when that is?

You may see a trade with the Browns for C Jeff Faine - the former 1st Rounder (03). Again, I am going out on a limb on this one.

Browns | Rumor alert: Team trying to trade Faine?

Sun, 12 Mar 2006 08:30:21 -0800

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports there is some talk the Cleveland Browns are trying to trade OC Jeff Faine. He is a three-year starter and former first-round draft pick who is just 24 years old. KFFL

Eagles are looking to bring in Darren Howard, which I think would quietly be a very good move. Although im sure the eagles fans on this board wouldnt let it stay quiet after the bentley debacle.

Do you really think Jeff Faine is an upgrade over Hank Fraley? I don't see that trade happening.

I believe it would be an upgrade over Hank "The Tank" Fraley". If the Eagles missed out on signing Bentley, then you have to look at the overall picture - the Eagles organization is not pleased with his services.RAPTURE

Signing Darren Howard would be a nice move, and one I wasn't expecting at all. I still want the Eagles to be aggressive on the offensive line front. While I know they've been "preparing" for this the last few years, I don't want to have to rely on Herremans, Hicks, Andrews and Jackson all being healthy starters.

On the center front...Mike Flanagan and Kevin Mawae are still top quality options. Jeff Mitchell and Seth McKinney could be worth a look, too, albeit they aren't guys any team should break the bank for.

On the OT front...the free agent cupboard is pretty bare. Runyan is the best remaining free agent. Guys like Fabini, Hopkins, Ashworth, Black and McDougle simply aren't worth breaking the bank for, and with there being so much $$$ out there this year for teams to spend, I worry these guys are going to get $5 mil plus deals when all is said and done.

They are waiting for Moulds to get released by the Bills
A) I don't think soB) I hope I'm right

I want absolutely ZERO part of Eric Moulds
I disagree. I think he would be a great band-aid for the next 2 seasons while Reggie improves. What are our other options? ARE, GIvens?

This is getting depressing, checking out all of these updated posts and seeing all of these other teams signing players, and the Eagles doing nothing yet. Hopefully they'll have a few surprises coming out soon, but for now I am disappointed.

apparently Hutch could be gone now too... so much for any decent O-line upgrades... i guess we still have Mawae to hope for..

Antonio Bryant. PLEASE???

He and Julian Peterson are the only ones on my "wish list" left...

I don't think Antonio will be an Eagle. I heard on Sirius NFL radio jsut a short time ago that San Fran is negotiating with Antonio and hope to have him signed soon.

Just a thought.. could the Eagles lack of FA movement come from how they treated the TO mess???

And players just don't want to be part of the Philly movement?

Not saying TO was not a mess, but the Eagles also screwed up as well..IMO

:goodposting: And on that note, why would any agent encourage their player to play for them?

Not if the Cards have anything to say about it.

Woodrow, I tried to convince you once before when you said Bruce over Moulds. I know you favored bringing in Bruce (if he had been available) yet you don't like Moulds.Moulds would be a great complimentary receiver to Reggie Brown, and put Pinkston at the 3 and Greg Lewis at the 4, both where they belong.

Overall I still would rather have Givens (earlier reports on NE signing have been rescinded), but I could live with Moulds.

It pains me to see the Redskins getting 2 new WRs even with cap problems.

The Eagles need to step it up - the cupboard is getting bare.

Players have left the Eagles and come back after chasing the money. See Jeremiah Trotter, Hugh Douglas, and now Shawn Barber. The Eagles are a class organization and Jeff Lurie has spent well on facilities, staff and an organization.

Add in the fact that the Eagles have been in the hunt since 2001 every year (minus 2005), and there's plenty of incentive to head to Philly.

Another thread suggested that Philly radio had speculated that the offer was Hollis Thomas + a 3rd for Walker. This obviously would be a steal for the Eagles. I wouldn't think GB would be interested in this but they certainly could use the help on the D Line and maybe the new staff wants a clean start without having to mess with disgruntled players from the previous regime. We can always hope can't we. Hell, after the first few days of Free Agency thats about all Eagles fans have left.

Yes, of course. WIP. Hasn't misled anyone lately, have they?

I didn't personally hear the report either. I just saw it in another thread. Honestly, I wouldn't take anything regarding the Eagles as more than speculation until contracts are signed or trades are official. That being said, if by some very odd set of circumstances we really were trying to deal for Javon Walker that would make me fairly happy assuming they can close the deal and not get Bentleyed again.

If Mike Anderson does indeed sign a four year deal for the palty amount of 8 million dollars this will be another opportunity missed by the Eagles. I just don't understand it.

Let's not get worked up about everything here. Mike Anderson was hardly someone the Eagles needed to target. If the team feels it needs another back, this is a fantastic year to get that back in the draft. It's a deep RB class and the Birds have a boatload of picks.

But as far as an big, cheap, immediate impact kind of player to complement Westbrook, I would have thought Anderson was ideal.

If the Eagles draft someone in the 3rd round, he's going to be younger, cheaper than $2 million per year and quite likely more productive.

I didn't believe the reports of the Eagles being interested in Mike Anderson. He is going to be 33 years old in September. The Eagles don't sign aging players to contracts like that. Bottom line is let Baltimore have him. If the Eagles want to sign an aging back, I am sure there is someone out there to sign for the league minimum.

There's a difference between players coming back to a team after chasing the money, and choosing not to come to a team in the first place. The Eagles did not act like a class organization with their handling of the Owens situation. You can call them tough, or no-nonsense, but not classy. That was one of the worst things that a team has done to a player in sports, and yet the media ate it up while letting the wife beaters slide.

The Eagles were not in the hunt, specifically because of the way they treated Owens. And now they're actually worse off at receiver than before, worse off at running back with McNabb hurt most of the season, nothing but Westbrook at RB, and a defense that looked nonplussed last year. I think they'll bounce back some, but I expect more of a 2005 Dolphins year than a 2004 Eagles year.

The NFL is a fraternity. A lot of players backed Owens in this deal, and a lot of others wouldn't get in the middle of it. Going to the Eagles is bad mojo right now for any player. The agents have to be wary of going to a team that seems hell bent on making them look bad in the media. And neither the coach, the team, nor the destination are so exciting that a player feels like they have to go there to win a Superbowl or play with one of the truly great players.

No offense bfred but :bs:

They'll go after Kevin Mawae.... perhaps hope to bring back the Saskawatch Runyan.

...but I'm still perplexed why their sitting on their hands right now.

To be fair, they weren't sitting on their hands. They thought [incorrectly] that they had the best offensive lineman available ready to sign in Bentley. It's perfectly natural [but still disappointing] that the Eagles would need to recalibrate for a day or two after finding out Bentley was using them as leverage for a deal with the team he really wanted to go to all along.

Hey Woodrow, if you were unhappy about Moulds, you'll be "thrilled" about this.

There's a report on the Eagles MB that the Eagles are close to signing Brian Finneran.

http://boards.philadelphiaeagles.com/index...ic=333951&st=40
That doesn't bother me...unless we give him a lot of $$$. Not every signing is going to be a difference maker. The Eagles don't need an impact WR to get back into title contention, they need to make sure both lines are solidified; something that wasn't the case last year.
