Huh? In soccer and cricket perhaps.

Hank Aaron down?

Ok, what happens in this scenario...

He jacks number 755 to tie him, but his enlarged heart from steriod abuse explodes rounding third and he drops dead on the field, does he get the record or not?

I agree the possibility is quite remote but to ignore the chance is to pretend that this world is not full of a bunch of CRAZY folks with serious issues.

I certainly hope it doesn't happen but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it did.

Only if there was a man on base. He would have to drag Bonds behind him and cross home plate first and then drag Bonds across home plate. That would be legit.

I trhink that the record, unfortunately, has been diluted by the fact that people have been watching as Bonds gets closer. For many baseball fans, it won't even count. A great number of people have rolled back the odometer to thinking that the greatest HR season of all time still belongs to Maris. The same will be history's reflection of Bonds for many people until A-Rod breaks it.

With everything that happens in the world you never know, but I hope not. That is extreme. I think it would be best for him not to break the record. But if he is going to break it anyway the controversy that will continue to follow him instead of what ought to be a celebration will speak volumes.

I wonder how many fat pitches AROD will see if he ever gets close to the season or career total records?

Wha'!?! Why would someone do that? Preposterous!:adjustsriflescope:

I don't think runners can touch.

You may be right, but I always thought it was that they couldn't pass each other on the basepaths. This is why the runner on base would have to drag Bonds behind him instead of pushing him along.

I'd like to see Hank Aaron intentionally crash his car into Bonds' car on Bonds' way to the ballpark the day after he hits 754.

Please do.. hte adults are talking.
What are these hte adults you speak of?I see your thread is really picking up steam and sparking a real discussion. Good job, great post topic

I've felt for along time some is going to shoot a player at a ball game. Remember that fan that attacked Randy Myers at Wrigley Field? And that was a LONG time ago. We've broken down a lot more as a society since then. It wouldn't surprise me...

Exactly. Baseball lifer. Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa never existed. Their careers are irrelevant.

Ding-ding-ding. We have a winner. The Reds won the 1919 WS. But, history has reflected on how tainted the series was by the far more significant fact that the White Sox threw the damn thing. Bonds's HR record will be in the books, but it'll be regarded with the appropriate cynicism.

What are the reasons for giving death threat? When Aaron was on the verge of breaking the Babe's record, the race was the primary motive behind the death threats against him. With another black man breaking the record, I don't see any legit societal reasons. I think that if someone got him it would be the crazy, anti-steroid baseball fan.

Bonds is a cheating, antisocial mofo. He doesn't hesitate to pull the race card himself. He treats people like ####. He's the most insincere pos I've seen in sports. He eclipses Joey Belle for chrissakes. And he's about to cheat his way to the most cherished American sports record, all the while, spitting in the face of baseball fans.Other than that, he's a SWELL guy.

And that justifies his death by murder? :o

Where in that post did you ever come to that conclusion?

Still haven't found the precedent for baseball players being murdered as they are chasing records. I don't think "The Fan" was a documentary.

Link to where I advocate his murder please? He's a pos. Doesn't mean I think his murder is justified.Jesus Christ. Wooosh yourself.

It is going to happen one day in America.

The players in all sports are so accesable while on the field that any crazed person could take them out with ease.

Hopefully this won`t happen for a long time.
