What are the rules for injury reporting in the NFL? (1 Viewer)

I seem to remember there being a thread about the new rules for injury reporting this year, but I couldn't find anything.

Anyway, one of my leagues uses the official NFL injury reports to determine if a fantasy player can be put on the IR. Because of the timing of our waivers, this is becoming a problem for many owners because it seems like players, by default, are listed as Questionable if they don't participate in practice. For example, there are tons of media reports that Maroney won't play this Sunday, but he will probably show up as Questionable on the injury report, which means the owner can't pick up an IR replacement for him in our league. That's the most recent example I can think of, but there have been others.

Does someone have a link to a thread or somewhere else that explains the official injury reporting rules? Do teams have any say now in how these are reported, or are they all standard based on participation in practices?

Players arent officially listed as QUEST, DOUBT, OUT until Fridays. On Wed & Thu teams have to submit a practice report which basically states whether a player practiced fully, limited, or didnt practice at all.

Cool... so if you go on, say, cbssports.com on a Thursday and it says a player is Questionable, is that completely unofficial? Does that come from the team, or the league, or is that just cbs speculation?Sorry for all the questions - if it was up to me we'd ditch the IR and just add another spot on the bench, but the commish is a little stubborn...

My understanding is that some websites are still labeling players as QUEST, DOUBT, etc on Wed and Thu but that is unofficial
