Butt eating.
Seriously. Maybe it's selective memory, but I remember spending a lot of time alone in my room playing Legos and watching TV. And don't get me started on the amount of time spent playing Nintendo.Let's not pretend this is a new thing. I remember watching a ####load of TV and movies as a kid.
I bet in 50 years nobody will even remember Alzheimers existed. One way or another. (hedging)-No one will have Alzheimers in 50 years. Hopefully not in 5 years. It's close.
In the car? How about with mom at the grocery store? Waiting for a haircut? Waiting for the school bus? Waiting for ANYTHING!Let's not pretend this is a new thing. I remember watching a ####load of TV and movies as a kid.
I am not disputing much of that, just pointing out that this didn't start in the 2000s, and it's not just the kids doing this today (and I think you are overstating it just a tad - most kids I know are still pretty active). I think it's just as bad, if not worse, when I go out and see the parents on their phones at the park, games, etc.. This spring I was at an indoor play area with my daughter, and I was fascinated watching a couple moms there. One in particular I am pretty sure didn't put her phone down for the whole time. Not that she was looking at it he whole time, but it didn't leave her hand, even the few times that she played with, picked up, interacted with her kid. That is nuts.In the car? How about with mom at the grocery store? Waiting for a haircut? Waiting for the school bus? Waiting for ANYTHING!
I think you underestimate the amount of electronic input kids are allowed to have today.
I watched plenty of tv ... but it was mostly after dinner or Sat a.m. cartoons.
I also rode my bike, played with legos, played wiffleball, street hockey, fishing, shot a bb gun, sledding, skateboarded, collected baseball cards, built a fort, swimming, basketball, etc.
Kids today are CONTENT to sit on the couch and stare at their phone. They do almost NONE of the above.
And many (not all) parents allow it because it's easier for THEM.
Those that claim they spent most of their youth watching tv or playing Nintendo ... you don't see a touch of ADD/ADHD in yourselves?
While performing a task, easily distracted and redirected? Impatient? Get bored easily?
lol ... just read this Facebook comment to a post:In the car? How about with mom at the grocery store? Waiting for a haircut? Waiting for the school bus? Waiting for ANYTHING!

Here is the baffling thing to me:lol ... just read this Facebook comment to a post:
:name: Y’all can call me... my 4 year old won’t even tell me it rang cuz y’all would be interrupting her YouTube time ??
She actually thinks it cute that her 4yo can't be interrupted while watching youtube videos on moms phone.
This sounds like tin foil hat stuff. What evidence do you have that recycled items are going to the landfill?Recycling is a joke too.
They make us sort everything into separate bins, but it all goes to the same landfill. Because 1) recycling is impossible and 2) recycling is expensive.
1: it's impossible because no one understands how to recycle stuff, and they make it too difficult. You can't recycle most of the things people throw in the bin. Ripped paper? Nope. Paper mailing envelopes with clear plastic address windows? Nope. Glass jars? Not unless you've rinsed it out, peeled off the paper label, and run it through the washing machine. Those color ad circulars you get in your mailbox every week? No, colored newsprint can't go in the bin either. Cardboard boxes? Amazon boxes, yes, pizza boxes, no. Anyone messes up any of the "what can go in the bin" thing, and the entire bin is considered "contaminated" and it gets rejected for recycling and sent to the landfill.
2: it's crazy expensive, and not worth the cost. We used to ship barges of recyclables to China and have them sort it, but they don't want it any more... there's no more money in it. They used to get like $100/ton for recycled newsprint, now just $5/ton. Why don't we recycle here? Minimum wage is too high. Hiring someone to dig through all the crap people throw in their bins in #1 above at $15/hour, no way would they make any money. Say by some miracle they get a penny of profit on every soda can they recycle... is it possible for someone to dig through, wash, and process 1500 cans per hour all day long?
So now it all goes to the same landfill as the regular garbage. Recycling is just a ritual at this point, some theater we go through to make ourselves feel better, like we're actually doing something.
In reality, all the trash and crap in our oceans is coming from polluted rivers in third world countries on the other side of the planet, and all the stuff we do has zero impact and zero effect.
They raised a generation too lazy to even play video games. Here is the baffling thing to me:
I get wanting to play video games all the time. Hell, I am a grown man and will still rip off long stretches at a time. That said, WTF is with the kids watching youtube channels of people playing video games? I could understand a couple minutes to see how to clear an area or something, but some of my son's friends will sit there for hours watching somebody else play video games.
Those of us who recall waiting in line for a favorite game at the mall arcade, quarters in hand, will remember that there was actually a decent amount of entertainment from watching those ahead of us play. Here is the baffling thing to me:

I’ll be good, I’ve already proven I can eat and orgasm at the same time.Wait until they invent a way to give you an orgasm but 10 times better and completely on demand at the push of a button. Pretty certain we'll all starve because we're too busy pressing that button to eat or work.
He's pretty much on point. Recycling is mostly a scam. Of course some of the items actually get truly recycled. This sounds like tin foil hat stuff. What evidence do you have that recycled items are going to the landfill?
Becaus you forgot it down the street and went back to get it?I walked down the street without looking at my phone.
Nope, it was in my pocket. I was actually able to walk several blocks without looking at my phone.Becaus you forgot it down the street and went back to get it?
Force him to watch Tour de France, that'll learn himMy 9 year old watches a ton of youtube and plays video games but never watches tv. I dont mind because he also plays tons of sports and is an all star little leaguer. We play catch or practice almost every day. However, he never had interest in riding a bike. Still never learned how to ride one. Im hoping one day he stumbles on a bike riding video so he gains interest lol.
You think so?Being able to refinance your home the way you order a movie on Netflix will be here within five years, if not sooner. There will be no closing costs or fees. You'll just click a button on your phone to be approved.
The way it was explained to me was that each of us has an amazon and Netflix page that is unique to us based on what we like and dont like. All things real estate will be on an app with a similar platform. Will eventually be all things financial and the costs to transact these things will go way down. You think so?
That's a lot of people NOT making money
I thought REAL FBG's just had their sons ricshawed from place to place? Sounds to me like he's pulling a power play on his old man and waiting for YOU to step up to the plate.shadyridr said:My 9 year old watches a ton of youtube and plays video games but never watches tv. Wow, people will not understand things at all in 50 years. In 50 years we will be saying:
"I remember 50 years ago when all babies were vaccinated. Doctors didn't even give us a choice. They wouldn't let the kid go to day-care without it.
.... and we had no idea that injecting our infants, who have immature and underdeveloped immune systems, with a crazy concoction of chemicals, would cause peanut allergies, and all kinds of other allergies, later in life. To prevent Polio? ... a disease that no longer existed at that time ... lol. What were we thinking?"
Dang Hank, I don't understand things at all right now.Wow, people will not understand things at all in 50 years.
