What are you offering/being offered for Royal? (1 Viewer)

I drafted him in a deep dynasty league and was offered Lendale White for him in that league. I turned it down.

In another smaller league he went undrafted. I gave a 2nd rounder for a 3rd rounder and the first WW callout to get him. In a very similar league (with many of the same owners) I offered the same deal but the guy didn't have a 2009 3rd so I said I would take a 2010 for him and was turned down.

I saw in another thread someone went Colston for Royal straight up. With Colston's injury, I can't say I blame the guy but I don't think I make that move...

What offers are we seeing?

I am tinkering with the idea of offering Matt Cassel to the Royal owner straight up. I've been trying to squeeze him for Steve Smith or Marshall....but so far he hasn't bit. I didn't see Royal Monday....so I don't know what his skillset is....but in this Pool...people are saying he is as good as when peanut butter met jelly.

I was offered Reggie Brown/2nd for Royal during the first quarter of the game.

I saw Gore for MJD/Royal in another league.

Wow, it seems to me his value is sky high right now (at least according to some of these offers). I may end up trying to move him. I would definitely take Cassell for him stright up.

Was just offered Roddy White for Royal and a first rounder from me. I passed again....
that is a tough one to pass up.
After the MNF game I don't see a huge gap between Roddy and Royal (if any). Throw in a first round pick and it's an easy pass.Royal is not a guy I would be looking to move in dynasty. He seems to be the next Jennings/Holmes type WR.

Anyone making Steve Smith-esque comparisons? Royal strikes me as a strong "little guy" with sick moves and speed.

Add in a stud WR on the other side to take the pressure away and a strong armed smart QB...

Just saying...

Oh...so let me get this straight. He wants royal and a first rounder for roddy?

That's it in a nutshell. The 1st rounder is tough for me to give up. See, the last two years I have traded away my first rounders and last year my 2nd rounder. My team is getting old. TO, Edge, Westbrook don't have many years left. My only other decent WR is Welker (PPR league). I have two first rounders next year and I need to keep them to get my team younger so it can compete for years to come. I do have Romo, Addai and Fasano on the youth side, but I want to get younger. Royal and a 1st for Roddy White just doesn't feel right to me.

I got that exact same offer, I also passed. I expect Bronco's offense to be much better than the Falcons and with Marshall on the other side drawing #1 corners, I think I like Royal just as much as White. Maybe a little ahead of Royal, but definitely not enough to give up a 1st

That's what I said. I just like the situation Royal is in better than White...

I know from personal experience how dangerous it can be to trade your picks before the season's over. Even the best teams are usually only one or two hard landings away from a bottom 3 finish. I think owners should always be cautious about trading away their first round picks.

It looks like moving Royal will be difficult. If he's rostered, then the owner thought he had something and doesn't believe Game 1 is a fluke. It'll take a significant offer to move him off one of those rosters.

Most offers I see here have been guys like Roddy that have done it once, but are nerve-wracking to own. I don't know many Roddy owners that feel really good about him repeating last year.

I'm thinking of offering Welker, but I expect to be shot down. We'll see.

I would definitely take Cassell for him stright up.
really? i have the #1 WW and both are there, and after some hard-thought pondering, im going to take the royal flush over cassell.guess depends on your QB and WR situations, but having lost colston, i need the WR more than the QB.i was just suprised to see cassell being viewed as so much more valuable than royal. that is all.-biz-

In a salary cap dynasty league I'm tentatively being offered deangelo (2 years @ $6) + stewart (5 years @ $16) + hines ward (2 years @ $6) for ocho cinco (2 years @ $27) + royal (5 years @ $1).

FWIW, I snared Royal off of the WW for $17 blind-bid bux (out of $100). League's a mix of sharks and guppies.

Obviously not everyone is ga-ga over the guy. Although I will admit that like Road Warrior said, if an owner in your league liked Royal enough to draft him, then he's probably not in a sell mood after being so vindicated by the week 1 performance.

I am a proud Eddie Royal owner (dynasty), and I would not take Matt Cassel for Royal even if my only 2 rostered QBs were Brady and Vince Young. It is extremely rare that rookie does that in his first game against a solid CB, and looks so, so good doing it. Say what you will about DeAngelo Hall being overrated - he is still a top 20 CB in this league, and Royal just made him look like a punk. in his first game as a pro.

Hate to say it but not in my case. I was picking in the 3rd. Hightower had just gone off the board. I just took the next WR drafted in the 2nd round of the NFL draft that was not drafted yet. That happened to be Royal. I also took Dexter Jackson from Tampa with a later pick just in the hopes that one of them panned out. Royal may have. Total shots in the dark. I don't watch that much College football. I had never heard of the kid. Still don't know where he went to college. That being said, how often does a rookie WR look that polished in his first game? How often does a rookie WR torch a darn good CB in his first game like that? And in a PPR league the guy looks to be money....

Honestly I was more impressed that Shanahan gave the ball to his rookie WR on a sweep on the season's first play from scrimmage (and then again on the 4th play). That's what I call a vote of confidence, and IMO that above all is what bodes well for Royal.

I moved the Bears RBs (Forte/KJ) and Royal for Steve Smith (CAR) and the Colts RBs (Addai/Rhodes) in a redraft.

I would've done that all day long in a redraft. Maybe even in a dynasty. Not like the older side of the trade is all that older...And with Forte and Royal both at all time highs I would say you made out like a bandit!?!?!

I thought so. It would be considered a guppy league and my roster is loaded. Neither of these guys will actually start for me until the byes start.

Unbelievably, this trade just happened in my 16 team redraft league:

Team A gives Andre Hall and Eddie Royal

Team B gives Laurence Maroney and Laverneus Coles

And to compound it, Team B had Andre Hall and cut him last Saturday, so he could have had him if he cared about him... and Team A just added Hall via waivers this morning when weekly waivers were processed.

I am in Virginia, and Team B is a Virginia Tech homer. Not sure how much that factored into it.

I thought the MNF game was eye-opening and looking at the stat sheet alone doesn't do Royal justice; He was better than that awesome stat line. His catches were on flares, outs, corners, incuts, double-moves...he does it all. He excelled at finding the soft spots in zone coverage, a mental aspect of the game rare for such a young guy. Shanny tried hard to get the ball in his hands as evidenced by having him return kicks and even attempt a pass.

He reminds me of TJ Housh in 2006: The #2 who does the dirty work across the middle or at the sticks on the sideline while the #1 remains the homerun threat. I wouldn't be shocked if Royal matched that production.

wow...I can't believe there is this much going on without waiting to see what the affect of Marshall returning will do to his role in the offense....granted kid has skills, but a guy who caught 104 balls last year is returning this week....

Marvin and Reggie...Ocho and Housh...Fitz and Boldin...Moss and Welker...Marshall and Royal. If Cutler has in fact taken the next step, this could be the next situation that produces 2 elite fantasy WRs. Cannot say that after one week, but he sure did look the part.

Exactly. And who do you think draws the double? Marshall or some rook? On MNF he had the top corner and some doubling. He still got the job done. What happens when they have Marshall getting the double and Royal going 1 on 1? He's going to get lots of looks and the running game is going to be even more wide open when they drop another safety back into pass protect and leave the box pretty empty...

Yeah. He wants me to give up a first rounder and Royal for Roddy
Easy pass. That's way to much to give up. The fact that Royal has a much better chance at being more productive over the next 5 years than roddy. All though I do like roddy. And at this point it is really hard to project who ends up with the better numbers. The fact that he wants a #1 as well....well thats just crazy.

Oh the joys of being a cutler owner this year :goodposting:

I agree and most like to make deals to be ahead of the curve but I am just a little surprised....it's not like it is a proven thing like those you mentioned above......and it's not like it is a mid level player coming back......if I owned Royal, his value will not be any higher then it is right now and I would be trying to move him, his value will go down after this Sunday....but if I didn't get a significant upgrade, I would maybe sit and see if I had the next great #2 (Wayne of old, etc)....if I didn't own him, not sure I would be giving up the farm for him...eta: just wanted to say...I think he will outperm his draft spot, so he is great value and will probably remain so throughout the season with that in mind, but after Sunday his trade value starts going downhill.........

I took Eddie with a late 2nd round pick in our FA draft...which was after our 3 round Rookie Draft....basically the #48th pick of rookies and FA's.

Dont be so sure. If he follows up last week's game with 60-70 and a TD, or 100 and no TD, his value may actually go up. What is holding his value where it is right now is the fact that he is a rookie with 1 good game under his belt, and a stud WR is coming back to possibly steal some of his looks. If he has a decent game next week, it will strengthen his value because it will go a long way toward alleviating some of the fears that people have for him right now.On the flip side, if he has 3 catches for 40 yards, he will clearly lose some of his shine.

Well, I offered Chester Taylor and a throw-in to the ADP owner and he turned it down. I have Marshall - he has Cutler. As badly as he wants Taylor he couldn't pull the trigger last night. I think this kid will be special, and was salivating at the thought of starting Braylon, Brandon and Eddie every week in a 3WR start redraft league.. Oh well.
