What have you guys got?

Houston has some injury questions on the offensive line especially guard.

NYG has their center David Baas injured but he's hoping to be back for week 1.

The LG position is a bit scary and there's very little depth, but the Buffalo O-line has played very well so far. From PFF:

Offensive Line Settling in

If youre looking for reasons as to why Kolb struggled in this game, dont look at the offensive line. Kolb faced two pressures on 22 dropbacks in what was an impressive outing from the front five. Left guard Colin Brown (-1.3) was the only starter to grade out negatively as every other starter graded positively in both run and pass blocking. Cordy Glenn, Eric Wood, and Erik Pears all maintained unblemished pass-blocking records on the day and the starting offensive line combined for a grade of +9.7. It was an encouraging performance especially considering how talented the Vikings defensive line is.

I'd also say that Baltimore and New York's lines actually aren't all that good. In fact, I think Baltimore could be downright bad.

It's always hard to judge the quality of an OL when you're not observing them in the trenches. Sometimes seemingly weak OLs seem to gel, and seemingly strong ones falter.

In other words, no clue...

I would add WAS to the list. They have all five starters back form last year. Trent Williams is an underrated tackle.

I would take Bal and NYG out. Without giving it much thought I would replace them with the Jets and Seahawks.

to the original poster that's a darn good list, but STL should be included. They are much better with Long. SEA too, Okung reached his pro bowl potential and they have tons of good players. (so many that they can trade John Moffitt and have no fall off).

when looking at OL keep in mind that the connection between a high production offense and a good offensive line is not as clear as it used to be. Especially passing offenses, a great QB can cover up alot of flaws. For example GB's line was horrid last year and they produced points. ATL's line was bad last year and even worse this year but again, tons of points.

Really don't know how they compare against those listed, but Philly should be getting some love here. Arguably the best OT in the game Jason Peters, a pro bowl caliber guard in Evan Mathis and promising young OT who's been playing very well in Lane Johnson. This group could be special.

I was wondering the same thing and specifically what OL's are better at pass protection so that whichever QB you might take (besides the obvious of Brees, Rodgers, Manning) will get time to throw.

If Denver could get the center position fixed, they would be in the top 10. I'm hoping they move Kuper there once he gets healthy.

I don't think Tenn or Baltimore belong in that group any more than the Steelers would.

Seattle, yes. Philly, not sure if they are top 10 but they will definitely be a LOT better than last year is Jason Peters is healthy.

agreed. but it's too early to put PHI in the top tier. Peters is making his preseason debut this week. But overall yes they could be among the best in the game, in a short amount of time. Lane Johnson has been the most dominant rookie lineman this offseason, which is really good considering Fisher and Joekel went higher. The Eagles might actually have gotten the best tackle.

If you want to know, check out my offensive line ranking articles. A new one will be published in the next day or so. I grade every unit in both run blocking and pass protection.

Baltimore is still missing Marshal Yanda, when he gets healthy they deserve to be in that top tier (as long as McKinnie stays motivated).

The titans could actually be the best line in football, period. Chance Warmack has been a beast in the run game and Andy Levitre was such an awesome signing. that 58 yard run Chris Johnson had in preseason week one, you could have driven a mack truck through the hole.

But wasn't the suposed issue with CJ2K two years ago and at least the first part of last year the offensive line? 2 yrs ago was right after he got his huge contract. If I remember correctly, it appeared as though CJ was also blaming the O line for his performance at those times. Are they that much improved 1.5 - 2 yrs later?

Tenn is pushing top 5 with the new guards. Already had a very good pair of tackles.

So what was up with New England last night? I know Detroit's defensive line has a lot of talent, but they haven't dominated anywhere close to that much in the other preseason games.

What teams are on the move?

Philly up? Peters back
Was up? all 5 starters back (was mentioned on the audible about the giants having same 5 starters for 3 years running)
Tenn up? new editions at guard

Giants down Injuries
Bal

WHo else is on the move?

I'd move Houston down, the entire right side of the line is a giant question mark, and Wade Smith on the left side is injured.

The DET line dominated the Jets front in Preseason week 1. The Jets OL went on to look great against JAC in preseason week 2. The Lions really are beastly up front.

I made reference to Houston in the OL Update article published today. Long story short Wade Smith tends to play through injuries. If Wade Smith misses games, yes they should be downgraded.

The Titans problems were deeper than OL. Yes there were injuries early last year (Amano) and then again late last year (almost everyone except Roos was hurt). But Chris Johnson's production returned when Matt Hasselbeck took over for Jake Locker. In other words having the threat of a functional passing offense took pressure off of the run game. Teams were stacking 8 and 9 in the box and they couldn't even get a first down. The offense was so dysfunctional early last year, CJ had like 10 carries a game. Part of the story was the defense getting shredded and the OC abandoning the run early. Overall the line has talent but watch Locker if he's terrible again that won't be good for CJ's production.

Yep...I was going to say that the Jets should have consideration for Top 10 (though likely they are in the 11-15 range). Detroit is going to be a beast to deal with (what is there typical DEF ADP in Fantasy???), but I would also drop NE out of the Top 10 for O-line.

Smith is just an escalator, the right side of the line being crap is enough to make me worry.
