What can Kevin Jones do with 15-20 snaps? (1 Viewer)

KJ news

I think this has a good chance of playing out as the blurb predicts. 15-20 snaps for KJ this week, no reason to give him more than that this early. My question is what does he do with those snaps. 10 carries and 2-3 catches maybe? How does 60 total yards and off chance for a TD sound for week 3? What do you think about the situation for week 3?

*working on link (i get directed to different sites before and after posting) hold on....

Per yahoo sports:

Sep 20 Jones (foot) was listed as a limited participant at Thursday's practice.

Recommendation: Jones, who participated in individual drills and took snaps with the first-team offense Wednesday, indicated that his foot responded fine to the work, the Lions' official site reports. "My foot still feels good," said Jones after the team's Thursday morning walkthrough. "It felt good yesterday; a little sore when I woke up but that’s normal. It feels about the same as it did yesterday. (There was) a little swelling but it goes away after icing. I ice it after practice and treatment." Friday's practice should go a long way in determining whether Jones will make his season debut this week. If he does, he'd likely be limited to 15-20 snaps.

I would not be surpised at all to see him get more than 10-15 snaps. The main concern is can he play with the pain, discomfort, etc? If he can, I don't see why they would put a snap count on him. He could be good to go the whole game.

65 yards at best. sit him unless your options are Leon Washington and Norwood.
I am trying to decide between K Jones and Randle El, in a PPR league as my flex. I think i will be waiting until 5 min before game time to make my final decision, hoping to hear the latest news about Jones role this sunday.

I love KJ but I think you've got to be more than desperate to start him this week. I am desperate and starting Nate Buleson over him as a flex in a 16-team PPR league. Give him a week or two.

Kevin Jones with 15 touches: 1485 yards and 15 TDs

Kevin Jones with 20 touches: 1980 yards and 20 TDs

My crystall ball tells me he has rushed back way too soon and will end up re-injuring himself. I am not a medical expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Im thinking KJ will do atleast what Ladell Betts will do so I'm rolling the dice and going with KJ. Who knows, maybe he feels good, runs well and they keep feeding him the rock.

Thanks for your insightful input.
Fine I'll play your game.Expect 4.2 ypcTDs are impossible to predict so I wont.Does that make your lineup decision any easier then before this thread?
I agree TDs are quite hard to predict, espcially this week for KJ. I think 4.2 yards per carry is reasonable, I am mainly trying to figure out how he will be used in the 15-20 snaps. Does he get 15-20 touches, or 5 touches. 15-20 touches and I would start him as my flex no question. 5 touches no way. Since we are not the head coach or the O cordinator its a guess of course, but i was looking for guesses on how he would be used in the 15-20 snaps.

15-20 snaps = like 5 combined carries and targets on Detroit. They pass the ball 70% of the time.

I think Bell is a much better start than KJ this week. Even if he hits the upper 20 snap threshold, that is only like 3 series. So basically I read into that as, KJ will see at MOST less than half the snaps.

;) 12 carries, 39 yards and a cracked foot.
The bone is healed. There is not any more risk for him to have another Lisfranc fracture ("re-injuring") than for LT to have one. The only risk of bringing KJ back too soon would be an injury to another part of his anatomy that would be overused in compensating for lack of conditioning or pain.Unless you are predicting another freak accident, his foot is not a risk for fracture.

Great prediction, but I doubt if the opposing punter will be able to consistently pin Detroit inside the 5 twenty times in a game. Otherwise hard to argue.

He'll be used the same way Mike Martz has always used his backs. Not enough running between the 5s and nothing but running inside the 5.

:shock:People here are translating "15 snaps" into "12-15 touches". Doesn't work that way, folks. He will probably get a couple of carries to test his foot, but otherwise it'll be mostly passing plays -- and considering Kitna's concussion, he'll probably be blocking pass-rushers more often than not.3 carries, 13 yards; 2 receptions, 16 yards.

41 yds & no TDs

I think he'll be back to form in 2-3 weeks from now. I may just drop Foster & D. Williams for KJ (Salary cap league. Need to make room)

Kevin Jones. 15-20 touches? What can he do?

-high ankle sprain

-back spasms

-strained knee

-tweaked groin

-turf toe

-chin splints

-jock itch

-cotton mouth

-cost a whole lot of overthinking fantasy owners a win.

What has he ever done?? This guy is a loser and a backup fantasy player that should be used as a bye week filler. He has wasted a roster spot on my team for several years now.

I'm sure that having a guy pray in a basement has ensured that his foot is properly healed.
In the off-season, maybe three days a week, Lions running back Kevin Jones would drive to Saline to see someone about his injured foot. He wasn't going to a high-tech treatment center; he was going to an Asian man's basement. This wasn't state-of-the-art; this was martial arts.Jones would lie on an examining table. The man would say a prayer, then hold his hands over a little box. The box contained a flame. The man would absorb the heat in his hands, then put his hands on Jones' foot and project the heat to the injured area, laser-like. Swelling and pain would subside.Heat acupuncture. Sound strange? Well, it sounded strange to Jones, too, at first. But he was injured, and he did what he had to do. And now he swears by it."It's not conventional or traditional," Jones said with a laugh Monday, after going through conventional and traditional rehab at Lions headquarters. "I just was willing to try kind of like anything because I was, you know, hurting. ... That's one of the reasons why my recovery is speeding up so good."

Just because they mention 15-20 snaps doesnt mean he's getting the ball that often. I'd expect 10 touches max. which obviously limits his fantasy production to about 40-50 yards IMO best case scenario. He's not ready yet. He'll help the Leos but not you.

You must not be paying very close attention then. In his 11 healthy games last year he put up over 1200 all purpose yards and 8 TDs. That's a wasted roster spot?

What can Kevin Jones do with 15 snaps?

Pass Block on 12 of them and dance around the line of scrimmage on the other three.....

That's only 9 touches !!

The doctor clearly said that he is in no danger of reinjuring his foot. So, I think that the big deal here, is whether or not he is conditioned enough to play very much. I think that how much playing time that he gets during the game, is going to be decided by Kevin Jones, during the game, on how he feels stamina wise.

Actually, Martz hasn't used Bell in passing situations too much because he's not that good. KJ will expand that area of the lion's offense and probably mean less receptions for some of the WRs.Yet, I don't see anything about KJ that's worth starting THIS week unless you have no other RB that will can get you a hand full of points.

Anyone who is starting KJ this week has lost their mind. Detroit doesn't even run the ball, nevermind the fact that he has yet to take a real snap this year.

Seriously people....

I hope he does not have any rushing attempts. I'm in a PPR league :excited: .

Can we keep this kind of talk to a minimum, please? Some people have different league requirements than others. It's a legitimate question.

And this is just stupid.

if you're foot isn't injured, it doesn't swell up after a practice when you don't even take full reps.

The doctor said his foot is 100% healed. I'll take his word for it.

Seems to be a lot of T. Bell owners posting on this thread. That said, I don't think KJ has much of an impact this week. 4/14 rushing, 3/15 rec. I would be surprised if KJ does not become the feature back by week 6.

:lmao: I see him gradually taking carries back. By week 6 he'll be getting about 75% of the snaps.

there are 2 types of people in this world. Those that own Kevin Jones. And those that win in fantasy football.

:lmao:

just kidding, fellas. I hope he gives you some #s this week....before he hurts himself again. :lmao:

They're speculating on snaps, not touches. I'm thinking if he plays he'll grab about 6 carries for 15-20 yards and maybe grab a pass or two.
