what did you give your partner for Valentines day? (1 Viewer)

I found a football jersey with hearts on it that had 82 on it which happens to be her birth year. I got lucky because it was the last in her size and she had wanted a cutebgirls jersey.

I also got her some expensive lipsticks she wanted and later in the night I went downtown.

A few years back we decided to take a different approach for Valentines day. We bought the other person on last card. Each year, we give the card back and add a new passage. For those thinking there isn't much thought being put into it, remember all my previous work is right there for comparison. I have a new appreciation for the online thesaurus.

VD

Dinner and a movie. We don't buy things for each other too often, we'd rather spend time together.

I bought a helper monkey. He does dishes, vacuums, cleans windows and does laundry. Pretty cool to watch him in action. I figure we'll eventually get used to the smell.

Good god, man. Didn't you ever see the movie Monkey Shines?

Start sleeping with one eye open.

ETA: Also, when I first read that, I thought it said "he'll" get used to the smell.

We made dinner together, got drunk on a couple bottles of wine, she unveiled some hot lingerie, we watched porn together and I destroyed her.

Basically same here minus the porn. Making dinner together has become somewhat of a valentines day tradition for us, its a lot nicer doing it together (heh) and having a nice quiet dinner alone.

An honest conversation regarding an awkward situation from the past

ETA: Wine with Shepherd's Pie as well.

A nice dinner out, but we don't exchange gifts. We use that money for vacations. We are going to Sonoma for a week in June.

Can't afford to do both?
I suppose we could, but if we want something we are the type just to buy it for ourselves. We use birthday, Vday, Christmas money that would be spent on gifts for things like remodeling the house and traveling. We usually take 2 pretty large vacations a year and buy saving on things like holidays, we don't have to cut any corners on vacation or worry how much a dinner might cost.

Perfect night out planned last Friday - took her out for a nice dinner at a fancy steakhouse then we were going to go to a movie. Bought her a nice new diamond ring since our 25th anniversary is on the 24th of this month.

Since we rarely go out, gave her the ring after dinner, then the phone rang. Our second youngest was violently ill. Turns out he had strep.

Wound up going home - kid was in our bed. Wife slept on the couch and I slept on the recliner.

Best laid plans foiled again. At least she liked the ring.

Mrs. Servo and I went out to dinner Friday night and then did a little shopping together. We exchanged cards on Saturday morning.

I was at a Wawa when I realized it was Valentine's Day and I hadn't gotten her anything. Bought 2 VD themed lottery tickets, a box of conversation hearts, and a Reese's PB heart for the hell of it. Happily married for 13 years to a women who doesn't give a crap about VD. (But if I screw up her birthday next week I'm toast)

My wife's is the 19th. Absolutely not a fan of February.

Valentines day gave her 2 dozen Roses and cooked dinner for her.

Then decided that just didn't cover it, so today as I left the house I left her this note on her dashboard:

When I tell you I love you
I don't say it out of habit or to make conversation.
I say it to remind you that
You are the Best Thing that ever happened to me

:)
