What do you do with Randy Moss? (1 Viewer)

So NE is making efforts to get him the ball (10 targets last week I believe; nice long TD the week before). But Moss is either going to get that long catch for 20 FF pts in a PPR (2 weeks back) or get you 5 pts (last week).... there is no in between it seems right now. That kind of inconsistency can kill your team from week to week.

So what do you do Moss owners? Start him every week? Bench him every week? Or go with match ups? Or go with home vs away splits?

This week he is playing Denver and I can see Champ Bailey all over him. However, looking at stats against Denver, #1 WRs have managed to get 5 to 6 catches (see Matt Jones last week) against Denver, which indicates they are moving their #1 WR and matching him against Bly, who sucks. I read somewhere that Jax did not throw a single pass where Bailey was in coverage. Will NE do the same with Moss and move him around?

Also, this week's game is on MNF which tends to be when teams feature their stars, so I can see Moss going off.

Would you start him this week? What about the future?

Thoughts from Denver, NE homers and Moss owners would be appreciated.

:lmao:

If Moss had a half capable QB I would not be worried about the matchup with Champ. However, he doesn't so I expect the ball to go the other way ALOT. He's on my bench this week in favor of Santana Moss.

Benched in favor of Marshall and Plax and CJ3 in the flex. If he puts together a couple good weeks hope to trade him.

i may be forced to start moss because i don't want to start ocho cinco or anthony gonzalez.

Long story short, Pats offens eis a mess. Not LT Matt Light is hurt. Moss will get an occassional bomb and very little else. Nothing has changed since Brady has been out, and I don't expect much to change in the immediate future. We can revisit this in a few weeks if and when O'Connell takes over at QB.

I'm hoping to see more out of him from both a fantasy perspective and personal perspective. I own Moss in my Auction Keeper league and he has been a huge disappointment. I am also heading to my first NFL game this Monday night(from Canada) and can't wait. Hoping to see some offence.

Moss is a bust...a complete and total bust. I can't believe he was even drafted. What a joke.

Oh wait...I guess the Jarvis Moss thread is somewhere else.

i'm about to offer moss and anthony gonzalez for lee evans. i think it's time to sell if someone's willing to give me something worthwhile.

Seem to always bench him when he blows up and start him when he duds.

This week I am rollin with Moss over Roy and Lance Moore. Unless of course Romo starts, then I will probably start Roy.

I wish I had him on the bench last week, started him over V. Jackson

That being said I think I am going to start him again this week (yes I am a glutton for punishment) but I just don't like how SD plays when they travel out east

offer was accepted. evans has just been too consistent. i hate to give up on both moss and gonzalez, but i wouldn't feel safe starting moss for the rest of the year and i doubt i'd ever want to start gonzalez in a 3 WR league.

anyone have an opinion on the original question?

my guess would be to try to figure out matchups, start him against teams with overall weak pass defenses, ie bad pass rush, mediocre #1 CB.

The Broncos do not usually put Champ on the opponent's #1 WR. He normally plays one side of the field and Bly plays the other. The Bronco pass defense has been very bad due to a lack of pressure. Bailey is still an elite corner but the Denver starting safety duo might be the worst in the league. If the Patriot offense can get out of its own way for a week, I think Moss can post some decent numbers.

Denver couldnt pass rush itself out of a paper bag. We will see Cassel's best game yet.
 This is the KEY - Cassell gets sacked a decent amount holding the ball too long. Without lots of pressure, he should be able to get that extra 1/2 second or so needed to make a read/decision and get the ball away, lengthening drives and giving him more shots. I think this could be a good one for Moss.

I hope so. At this point, it would be a great opportunity to sell Moss after he posts some good numbers.

I'm 3-3 in both leagues I have him, I have played him every week so far, but I think I am benching him in at least one league this week for Kevn Walter, playing Marshall and Braylon

Other leagues

have Braylong and Calvin, not sure yet, it's either R. Moss Fargas or Muhammed

Simply put, start him or trade him. I would treat Moss like an upgrade over guys like Bowe, Driver, etc but inferior to guys like Andre Johnson, Megatron, Vincent Jackson, etc.
