I did a search for this and couldn't find any info so if you remember a thread, please post it here.
I was thinking today how great it would be if New Orleans wins the Superbowl...obviously, a great feel-good story about the city and team. But what type of affect would it have on players like Bush and Colston? You enter a league getting paid millions, then win a Superbowl. What else is there to look forward to? Then you look at guys like Manning/Harrison and I think they would appreciate a Superbowl much more.
I just read an article on the CB that committed suicide and it said that he had brain damage from the multiple hits he took over his career in the NFL. I makes me respect a guy like Tiki Barber to step away from the game before too much damage is done to his body.
So I'm looking for opinions, insight, even stats on rookies' performance, career, etc. after winning a Superbowl their first year in the NFL. Does winning cause more of a drive to win, have players stepped away from the game maybe prematurely, or do those players not develop further because of that Superbowl ring so early in their career?
