What happened in Cincinnati Saturday night? (1 Viewer)

After centuries of institutional oppression, I can't believe the librul media is still conspiring to conceal the innumerable daily injustices facing white men in the USA in our lord's year, 2015.

Also I saw this brawl covered on the CBS Morning News this morning so the whole premise of this thread is taking a hit.
Come on dude. Seriously. I expect some of the nonsense from people like Sho Nuff and Todd, but you? You seem to be one of the few intelligent posters on this board. Surprised you can't appreciate my premise which is the complete lack of proportionality in coverage of these incidents by the national news outlets. Just because CBS picks up the story 2 and a half days later doesn't disprove that premise at all.Your other points about the fight are fair. Hard to tell what exactly occurred, and who was with who. But I'm pretty convinced it won't be investigated thoroughly, by either the media or the police.
I don't think this story is what you are trying to make it out to be.

Were there any racial elements to this fight? Sure, most likely they called him "white boy" and his race probably made him more of a target given the makeup of the rest of the crowd - but we really have no idea at all what the basis of the start of this fight was and from what I see this doesn't come close to the level of a "hate crime".

And yes, there will always be some bias in news reporting - on both sides of the aisle - but I wouldn't lump CNN into the "liberal media" realm and this story shouldn't be the "poster boy" for pointing out any biases because as far as I can tell things like this happen in a lot of places every Saturday Night. I've witnessed worse brawls than that. As far as cable news channels you have FOX on one extreme and MSNBC on the other - CNN is somewhere in the middle ground.

Most people care more about what is happening today. And in today's world the much bigger problem is black violence. Fact is there is a much higher percentage of black on white violence than white on black. It's not even close. But we can't talk about that, right? Because any conversation along those lines must be racist.http://whitegirlbleedalot.com/top-100-black-mob-videos-1-white-girl-bleed-a-lot/

The rest of the summer concert series downtown has been cancelled because of this.
Because of one fight?Wow

I guess what can you expect from a town that elected Jerry Springer....
From what I heard during the press conference yesterday the Police and the Mayor were (rightfully) concerned and disturbed by the number of unsupervised youths at the event. Lots of great parenting going on in these communities. Maybe just more evidence of the real problem we should be focusing on in black communities - the breakdown of the family? Nah, let's just blame the evil white Mayor for canceling concerts.

The best info I got from researching this story came from Facebook postings from people who were there. One black lady, talking to a group of black friends, said it all started when McKnight (the white kid) bumped into a black guy. Her account of the fight was that he was targeted because he was white and that it was shameful. Not sure where that post was - I'll try to dig it up when I get home.As for the media, I agree with you about the two networks on the extremes. CNN used to be middle of the road but that has changed the last couple of years. They are clearly left leaning, especially on race issues. I think Don Lemon might have a little to do with that.

A fair news media is essential to a democracy. What we have in2015 is the complete collapse of journalism. The vestiges of media that we have left are nothing more than mouthpieces for preconceived political viewpoints, and the truth suffers as a result.

Are their families broken because of the color of their skin? Can you expend on this? Do you think black families in the middle and upper class have the same issue?

When you say "black families", are you referring to black people or white people who identify as black people?

Only when you try and equate a guy who got in a fight with mulitple people...and was not hurt bad enough to even need a hospital stay with several stories involving police using deadly force against unarmed people and the conversations that brought about (both peaceful and violent).

The whole...where is Jesse and Al...where are the protests...lines are just foolish.

The situations are different and should be treated as such. But people like you will not ever see that.

Because he's a conservative?

Contrasting the video with the officer's depiction causes me to to question what systemic racial biases the CPD possesses. Maybe this is s bigger story. Another big city police department that treats its black citizens as less than equal...

what was the lineup looking like?
Google is up and running today, I checked earlier.
Link?

Dang it, that's right! Thanks- I keep putting in www.clownpenis.fart, but I'm sure we've all made that mistake.
I just typed "Google" into a Bing search engine and it took me right there. Next time just try that.

BTW, #2 article on the NYDN when I read the paper this morning:

Further proving my point that it's clearly newsworthy and people are interested in it when it is written about. My central point about the mainstream Liberal media bias still remains as well. Nothing in the NY Times on it. And still no coverage on CNN or MSNBC (though CNN did link to a third party article in it).

Also note the #1 story there. One of the first complaints in the OP was that news outlets were ignoring this story.
It's more important to be first than to be the one who waits to get what facts are available together before telling a story. Especially when there are racial tensions in some quarters. Then again, we have man about racial tensions, General Tso of magic football message board footballguys keeping the all-important shoot first, ask questions later ethos alive whenever possible in such tinderbox conditions.

That video is one piece of the puzzle. The fight went on well after that video ended, and it was at this point that the hate crime was apparently witnessed by the police. Numerous people stomping and hitting him.I find it interesting that you could watch these videos - particularly the second one where he is being laughed at and mocked by the giddy black crowd, and not conclude that hatred there is rooted in racism.

In my OP I said, "You won't see it covered much by any of the liberal news networks". You do realize the difference between a network and a newspaper, right? I also mentioned CNN and MSNBC specifically at least 5 or 6 times in this thread. But keep trying to misrepresent my arguments.

I've seen that behavior in bar fights that had nothing to do with race

The officers reaction is like a verbal version of the comedic barrel roll we saw in McKinney...

Anecdotally speaking, I think just about every video of a public fight in a large group of people has some(or a few) jabronis (black or white) hitting the "DAMN YOU GOT KNOCKED THE #### OUT" line from Friday. It's just part of the lexicon in America. IIRC, that video where the white guy got KO'd by the other white guy had people in that crowd clowning.

But I just want to say as a white Christian male, the end is near. Someday I won't have any inherent advantages anymore. Scary times we live in.
Yes, back to the white privilege. Thanks for chiming in with that. Yet another reason to excuse the mob violence and racism in this incident. Keep up the good work.
Don't mistake people mocking you for excusing the racism in this incident.

Capt.: Calling beating anti-white was officer's opinion

Police backed away Monday from an officer's incident report that described the Saturday night assault on a man near Fountain Square as an "anti-white" crime.

In a police incident report filed at 3 a.m. Sunday, the reporting officer stated the assault that left Christopher McKnight, 27, bloodied and unconscious involved hate or bias. The officer's typed explanation was that the violence was "anti-white."

At a Monday afternoon news conference with other police and city leaders, Capt. Mike Neville said that description was incorrect.

He spoke just minutes after The Enquirer had obtained the incident report and posted a story on its contents.

In an interview later in the afternoon, Neville said categorizing the assault as a hate crime was the opinion of reporting officer Alicia Essert. She drew that conclusion, Neville said, because McKnight was attacked by a group of people from the "opposite race."

It is too early in the investigation to determine whether race motivated the assault, Neville said.

Oddly enough I agree with a lot of what you are saying, BUT, the whole slavery thing makes it sound racist when you say "black violence". Let's just call it "violence" and try to solve it every which way we can. There is always going to be good and bad reporting, complaining about that is wasted effort.

I think Charles Manson did a little more than predict racial violence, but I could be wrong on that.

Yeah, Sho Nuff hated on this ad nauseum last night, as if that effectively proves it wasn't a hate crime. First off, of course it was the Officer on the scene's opinion. Is it ever going to be anything different? What was troublesome at the press conference yesterday was the Police Chief having no answers at all as to why they overturned that classification. He came right out and said that he didn't have a good answer for it. No new evidence came to light. No new video showing evidence to the contrary. Just an unexplained change to the official incident report as filed by the cop who actually was there and witnessed the beating (the portion NOT captured on video, where multiple witnesses also report seeing the man being stomped on and kicked by multiple black men). The cops don't want an open hate crime on the books heading into the All Star Game. Pretty simple concept, and painfully apparent to anyone who witnessed the uncomfortable press conference yesterday.

Please provide a link to a credible news story that backs up your claim as to the supposed testimony of these multiple witnesses - and, no, somebody posting on Facebook doesn't count.

Is a murder a national story to you only if it is between people of a different race?
Is a cop handcuffing a group of teens only a news story if it involves a white cop and a black girl?Let me spell it out for you. I am highlighting the liberal networks' bias and hypocrisy in reporting and covering crimes involving opposite races. I'm also starting to be concerned that we are seeing evidence of a significant uptick in black on white violence in this country. It's not every day that you see a black man walk up behind a 30 year old aspiring actress in broad daylight on Sunset Boulevard, pull out a shotgun and blow her head off for no reason. Ad on the heels of the Cincinnati brawl and the FSU QB punching a white girl in the face in a crowded bar, I'd say yeah, I'm concerned that we are seeing levels of racial violence we haven't seen in many years. And when you have two of the largest news networks not even commenting on these stories unless the violence is white on black, in which case it is 24x7, then the mistrust and divide between the races is deepened even more.

And the anonymous cop interviewed on the police blog doesn't count either, so we are left with what - the fine investigative journalism being done by CNN? You see how this goes?By the way, don't discount the social media sites so quickly. One of the best articles written on the event was done by CBS News, and the lady who wrote it was trolling around that same police blog site last night looking for details.
