What Happened To Smoltz? (1 Viewer)

John Smoltz was removed from Tuesday's game in the fourth inning with an undisclosed injury.

The guess is that his dislocated pinkie was bothering him. Smoltz gave up three runs before departing.

He's made a couple starts since the pinkie problem and dominated. Lets hope it's just the finger.

It isn't his finger, I don't think. He was trying to "stretch" his right shoulder out as he was leaving the field. It was so quick that the trainer didn't even get a chance to come out and check on him, instead Smoltz just walked off. It didn't look good at all, but hopefully he was just having trouble getting loose and decided to be cautious.

In the half inning prior to coming out, he hit a broken bat single. Right as he hit it, he winced and grabbed his right hand before running. Milwaukee announcers speculated that he aggrivated the pinky on the hit. He threw only 1 pitch in the 4th and walked off himself.

John Smoltz aggravated his pinkie finger and suffered a mild shoulder strain on a warmup pitch before leaving Tuesday's game in the fourth inning.

Smoltz apparently hurt the pinkie on a swing. The shoulder is the bigger concern, though the Braves said he left as a precaution. He was hurt warming up in the fourth, perhaps when he slipped on the mound, and faced just one batter in the inning before leaving. If Smoltz can't make his next start, the Braves will have to bring back Lance Cormier early and find another starter for next Tuesday's doubleheader. May. 29 - 10:21 pm et
