What Happens to D. Bowe? (1 Viewer)

Does he stay with Kansas City, or go elsewhere in 2013? It sure would be nice for him to be able to pair up with a competent QB.

Can't see KC wanting to pay him the sort of money he could get from a contender that needs a legit deep threat.

As Harris pointed out on his podcast, Seattle has a ton of cap space. Bowe would be a nice upgrade for that WR corps.

Appearing on Total Access, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported the Chiefs are actively pursuing a long-term deal with free agent Dwayne Bowe.

The two sides have already met, and Rapoport expects talks to continue in the coming weeks. Coach Andy Reid was said to be very high on Bowe when he came out of LSU and ended up being the No. 23 overall pick in the 2007 draft. When the 2012 season was winding down, the Kansas City Star said the Chiefs were not expected to offer Bowe a long-term deal, but since then the regime has changed. There's no reason to think Bowe can't get Vincent Jackson money -- five years and $55 million with $26 million guaranteed.
They almost have to go this route. Jon Baldwin has shown next to nothing but typical training camp buzz that accompanies most young players. He's not shown to be NFL starting ability, let alone a #1 WR.

If any coach but Reid was hired, I think Bowe would be gone. But I'm sure Bowe sees how much Andy likes to throw the ball, and he knows Andy will find a QB or coach one up enough to make him competent.

I know Andy will throw, but who is he going to get to throw the ball? Is there hope for a fantasy resurgence from Bowe if he stays in KC?

No sources to back this up, But I really think the Vikings make a play for a big time WR ( Wallace/Jennings/Bowe) Remember they tried to sign Garcon last season and settled for Jerome Simpson, we all know how well that worked out, Ap isn't getting any younger and with an aging defense, time is now for the Vikings to make a move. Tough thing here is what would they do with Percy? I cant see the Vikings signing Harvin long term and committing $$$ to 1 of these top free agent WRs: My prediction: --Harvin gets traded for a 2nd or 3rd rd pick, Vikings sign Jennings or Bowe

He's not shown to be NFL starting ability, let alone a #1 WR.The ability is there, he's just not shown any work ethic so far. He doesn't turn 24 until August so he's still very young. 2013 is a make or break year for him and he needs to make some strides, especially regarding his route running.

See Reid mending the rift, and shelling out the greenbacks to keep Bowe. There are some nice, young pieces in KC, and Reid will get his offensive players to buy into his system that lit up offensive stat sheets, even with guys like AJ Feeley and Kevin Kolb at the helm.

Word is here in Philly that Reid is very interested in trading for Nick Foles. Not the second coming of Montana, but probably an immediate upgrade to the drek that was behind center for them last year.

According to SI.com's Don Banks, "many teams" are wary of Dwayne Bowe having a "decreased effort level" should he receive a big pay day in free agency.Banks counts the Rams among those teams and doesn't expect St. Louis to be in on the bidding. Bowe has never played with a competent quarterback, but still flashed an ability to dominate games when his head is on straight. Unfortunately, teams believe his head isn't on straight enough. Bowe is "competing" with Mike Wallace to be this year's top free-agent wide receiver.
:goodposting: :goodposting: :goodposting: :goodposting:Wouldn't want to own this guy into his 30's. And problem is that the teams that will be interested are rebuilding teams.I'd take the 1 year older, cheaper Jennings who's never had past character & work ethic concerns than to dole out Vincent Jackson money to Bowe.

No reason to think that Jennings wont have a bounceback year now that he's healthy too.Only problem here is that Jennings might be asking for the same type of money. If I'm running a west coast offense I want Jennings over Bowe regardless. Bowe is a better fit for the type of run/long ball/possesion-WR type system like the Texans/Ravens/Bears run. I think he fits well with the running game that KC can employ so I think he's a Chief next season.Jennings does fit really well with what they're doing in Miami but I don't think that's going to happen. I'm guessing there's some other team that hasn't been talked about yet that will go for Jennings.

I'm guessing there's some other team that hasn't been talked about yet that will go for Jennings. The Vikings have a history of going after former Packer stars and they need a WR with his skill set. As for Bowe, I agree that he is a better downfield type of receiver and would fit well with the Texans or Ravens--not sure Bears will have money for another big pay check WR. I also agree with the previous poster who expressed concern about whether or not Bowe has the character to stay in shape and be dominant into his early 30s.

The Chachinator predicts Bowe to the 49ers.
I'm somewhat thinking this as well. I know all the buzz is about Harvin to the 49ers but Baalke has shown that they will sit and wait for a "good deal" in free agency. Plus the niners really need a physically imposing receiver (used to be Morgan) in the red zone.

Much different than giving him the ~$30M guaranteed that he probably wants.

Unless Bowe is wanting ridiculous money, I don't see why Reid doesn't want to keep him in KC. He knows that he has a strong running game, but QB is iffy and WRs are meh. I know some ofyou are sold on Baldwin, but I'd like to see something out of him first, so I will withhold judgement.

I'm getting the feeling he'll be back in KC, hopefully with a better QB. No matter who it is he has to be better than Cassel and the assortment of bums the Chiefs have had at QB since Bowe has been there.

As a dynasty owner I'm hoping he goes to another team that has an actual QB.
I believe the Chiefs will end up picking Geno and he'll be a massive upgrade at QB. If they sign Albert he's a no brainer, but even if they don't I think it will be very difficult for them to pass on him.

As a dynasty owner I want to see him go to the best situation possible. However, I also feel that a boat load of money might turn his head even more away from the game.Im actually thinking staying in KC with a new QB and a revised system might help his stats. Lots of garbage time stats again for this season I would think. This might also generate the ability to buy him at a reasonable price.
