What have we learned after week 3? (1 Viewer)

- I have always been a big Julius Jones fan. I'm a big ND fan and have watched the guy for a while. I've never really weighed in on the JJ vs MBIII debates. But after watching the game tonight I can't figure out how they don't give MBIII 25 touches a game. That guy's a beast. Sure, put JJ behind the Chiefs line of 3 years ago and he runs for 1500 yards, but he's just an average back that needs the right situation. MBIII is the real deal and a truely gifted athlete.

- Romo and the Cowboys are legit contenders. They put on a clinic at Soldier Field.

- LT has 130 yards after THREE games. That guy is killing me.

- I don't hear much from the Rhodes supporters saying how Addai will never be an every down back this year

- My hometown Rams suck. And yet another lineman gets injured. The game is won and lost at the line of scrimmage. And the Rams aren't doing anything on either side of the ball at the line. Leonard Little has no sacks. Pathetic.

- I like watching Cleveland play. There I said it. I think they are fun to watch. Another nail biter this week.

- Warner almost beat the Ravens by himself. Is it time to put the clip board in Lienart's hands till Warner gets his bell wrung? I would think so. I can't imagine that Warner would last the rest of the season without getting injured but I think a few games with Leinart on the sidelines would be good for his development.

- What was that back and forth stuff between Culp and McNown in Oakland? Just hand it to Lamont and toss hight percentage passes when the D is stacking the box. How hard is that?

- I realize that Lee Evans started slow last year but this is ridiculous....

- Did Steve Smith get held to 1 catch today for 10 yards? I'm sure that was a figment of my imagination and when I wake up tomorrow it will be 130 and 3 TD's.

- Harrington had a pretty good game. He makes Roddy White look like a legit threat, something Vick could never do.

- Kitna tosses 440 yards in an utter blow out. Gotta love the outcome of NFL games having nothing to do with FFB.

- I'm watching TO right now praising his team first in the post game interview rather than taking any credit for anything. What the hell is wrong with the world if this is happening? Is Bush going to start pronouncing countries correctly? Is Katy Couric going to start getting better ratings than NBC? Is Brittany going to join a convent? Did Jessica Simpson just get her MENSA membership?

- What's the best thing for a QB who just gave a controversial interview that was aired this week? Detroit coming to town. Double nickel plus 1? WOW!!! Can Kevin Curtis be the clear cut #1 WR in Philly that has only been filled by TO for that one season? I doubt it, but it was fun to watch today.

There is so much more to cover after this week, but it's late on a Sunday night. Looking forward to revisiting this tomorrow and the rest of the week....

excellent post . . .

My Bengals still look like they think they are playing CFL rules, since they never ever seem to get a stop on 3rd down. The week one evidence of tackling was but a mirage.

Marvin's 2-pt conversion chart is wrong (wtf did he go for 2 when they were up 4 after scoring?!?)

Kenny Watson might actually be an every-down capable back (which I didn't believe 'til seeing him in action this week)

Housh and Chad might BOTH finish the year with over 200 targets.

Oakland is now even in the kicker time out karma department.

Roddy White is for all intents and purposes the Atlanta offense.

Deshawn Wynn was but a mirage.

Reuben Droughns is alive.

Boldin is clearly the best WR in zona.

Leinart clearly sucks.

Cutler is going to be a very good QB.

There's no long term value in holding Denver RBs.

Rivers is going to be a very good QB.

:sadbanana: I would only add that this week confirmed that McNabb is still an elite QB and Rex Grossman will never play in a Superbowl again.

M. Leinart is not worth a start.

J. Gibbs is taking the Al Davis rode to senility.

I hope that Grossman is armed going home this evening.

MJD will be riding the FF pine until further notice - period.

Any RB/WR#4 on my squad is $$$ ...just not when I start them (K. Curtis/R. White/D. Foster)

Plaxico is actually pretty good. Shockey not so much.

We don't know just how mediocre Green Bay is yet.

Norm really isn't head coach material - again.

That there aren't many more guys than Todd Heap that takes hard hits. Man that guy's been belted over his career.

That Randy Moss should just be ranked No.1 in fantasy every week, he seems basically unstoppable.

Green Bay is for real

Detroit's D is as bad as we thought preseason. They just went up against Oakland and Minny the first two weeks where we didn't see it fully exposed.

Answering the question of who's better between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady is just too hard. I've just decided it's like what do I like better......steak or lobster. Just depends, both are great.

Is it safe to say that Kevin Curtis is the WR1 in Philly? I know Westbrook is the primary pass target for McNabb. Westbrook and Curtis look to be the lone playmakers on that offense. With the LJ Smith injury, even more will be on the shoulders of McNabb, Westbrook and Curtis.

and we have learned that Peterson is legit. He is practically the entire Viking offense.

LT is no longer super-stud but now a RB subject to the laws of defenses. We will see a lot more struggling from him here on out.

This is a growing trend.I've heard the argument that two coaching staffs have said Jones is better. I've heard the argument that you don't fix what isn't broke. And they both make sense. But you simply can't watch Cowboys games and not come to the conclusion that Marion Barber is a significantly better back. He's just awesome.

Brandon Marshall is the real deal.

The insane karma that Chicago had last year is gone and they are who we thought they were. they will be lucky to win 8 games this year.

Tony Romo is a top 5 QB - in real and fantasy fb.

St. Louis is BAD

Jason Campbell will be a very good NFL QB

Calvin Johnson is everything he was said to be - and then some.

LJ and SJax are going to struggle all year long, and an unprecedented number of mid to late round drafters will be winning their leagues

If Westbrook is starting, play him.

Shanahan is now in at #2 on the "Dumbest coaching decision ever" list.

Bowe is the WR KC has been waiting for.

Marvin Lewis needs a new 2-point chart. Frankly, the need for a chart is pretty sad - it's generally really obvious.

Norv? I agree and was surprised so many people were predicting good things for the Chargers. He's been to the playoffs one time in 9 years as a head coach... That's terrible.

They may still make the playoffs, especially since their division looks pretty bad, but it'll be more of a struggle than many people thought...

Flex no longer belongs to RBs. Times are changing and WRs are more explosive and can win you games.

Flex Rbs have progressively been less productive over the last 3 years...for me at least. In any format 10-12+ teamers. Draft accordingly.

if they make the 2 - they are up 6 - the reasoning is that you can still block the go-ahead PAT and be tied. What is the difference in being up 4 as opposed to 5? not sure what the gripe is...

Marvin's 2-pt conversion chart is wrong (wtf did he go for 2 when they were up 4 after scoring?!?)
And didn't the announcer say "That's the right move here"???
It was late in the game and this way a FG drive and then say, a fumbled kick return, wouldn't lead to another 3 points. If you went for 2 and got it, you;'re tied instead of losing. Not getting the 1 point wasn't going to hurt and this way a bizaarre scenario could be avoided. Nothing wrong with going for 2 there. IMO. Plus like he said you'd have a last gasp chance at them missing a PAT if you're up by 6 and the Seahawks score a TD. Small chances of that happening, but if there's no risk in staying up by only 4, why not?

M.Barber is several tiers better than J.Jones, yet for the 3rd year in a row he won't be featured for some crazy reason.

Cincy's pass attack is pretty darn good, just wait until Chris Henry returns. Their defense, not so much

This happened in a college game this weekend too (the Kentucky/Arkansas game). I wonder if that main chart they all use is broken. Then again this is the guy (Rich Brooks) who scored a touchdown the week before against Louisville to go up 5 with 38 seconds left and kicked the XP to make it 6pts rather than go for the 2 and a 7 point lead...

I don't know what the situation was in the Cincy game, but in the UK game there was 4:30 left. Presumably, you could give up a touchdown, get the ball back, and a FG would win it (rather than tie).Basically by going for two you're banking on the other team missing an extra point (extremely, extremely, extremely, extremely rare) being of greater probability than the other team scoring a touchdown and taking the lead back.

As mentioned above, I think the chance that you give up a score and get the ball back is greater than either of those two bizarre scenarios.

The Patriots are the real deal. Love them or hate them, they are kicking some serious ### to date. The Steelers aren't too shabby either. The Colts will usually do just enough to win and the NFC is wide open, although the Cowboy's have to have a leg up at this point.

I'd be shocked if Carson Palmer doesn't finish as the #1 FF QB. Chad & TJ have been rocking the house, Chris Henry will only make things better and their defense giving up points in bunches won't hurt matters. Seriously, I'd be shocked iat this point f even Payton out scores him, Brady may have a better shot at finishing 2nd.

First of all, the NFL pat success rate is about 98%. Decisions should be made under the assumption that the other team is going to make their PATs.But the main point... big difference between 4 and 5. After the opponent scores a 7-point touchdown, it's the difference between being down 2 (winning with a field goal) and down 3 (tying with a field goal). Now you might argue that with 2:42 left as there was in the Bengals game, it's unlikely that the Bengals would get the ball back with a chance to kick a field goal. Maybe so, but it's a lot more likely than the Seahawks missing a PAT.

Westbrook is the most under-rated player in FF, comparable to Tiki Barber. The guy is a yardage & TD machine, yet gets no respect year after year.

Stud WR's are inconsistent, they always throw in a goose egg here and there. Through three weeks so far it has definitely been the year of the stud WR. Steve Smith gave owners a bad beat today, expect a similar week or two from Chad Johnson, TJ Houshmanzadah, Terrell Owens etc. Be happy with what you have gotten up to this point, it's way above average for WR's to this point.

The Lions are not a good football team, yet they will consistently put up mega points in the passing game. As far as RB is concerned, only Kevin Jones holds value at this point, and that's if he becomes an active participant in the passing game.

The Rams really, really, really miss Orlando Pace. Even though Steven Jackson got his groove on a little today, Bulger was a negative in most leagues. This was supposed to be a very nice passing match up for the Rams. Now they stand at 0-3, you have to think that some of the players will start to give less than 100% at this point.

Vegas must have called, cuz that caused the game to push, kick the extra point and im up some :D To add:

-Dwayne Bowe might be next

-In five years we are going to look back at this draft and say "damn Calvin and Adrian were 07"

-Dont dare play a RB against Minnesota

The Redskins loss of Jansen & the other starting OL (I apologize, his name escapes me at this time) are killer. The saving grace may me getting Kendell from the Jets but the were so short handed to begin with that Kendell was a week 1 starter. Their above average backups are going to be severely tested in starting roles from this point out. The difference has already reared it's ugly head in their 2nd half collapse against the Giants today.

Tampa Bay has truly surprised me so far this season. I took Tampa Bay under 7 wins and I thought I had a winner, now, not so sure.

I'm going to get bashed for this next one but it's what I truly believe, I have posted this in the game threads for the past three weeks an I've been slammed several times (although I must admit, not today.) The Denver Broncos are not that good. They are not the "Best of the West." They are not better than the free falling Chargers, even though SD has Norv Turner at the helm, lost both their OC & DC, along with their HC this winter, San Deigo's talent far superceeds the Donkey's.

Don't go re-hashing rushing stats & receiving stats for, rushing & receiving yards against etc. Bottom line, this Bronco team should have taken care of business against the sub par Jaguars, not to mention that the should have blown out the Raiders & Bills in previous weeks. These Broncos are just not as good as their fans would like us to believe they are. God help them if the Patriots come to town.

Why isn't Dante Culpepper starting at QB for the Raiders at this point? There is no way that Josh McMuffin gives the Raiders a better chance to win. In week one I could swallow the excuse that Dante wasn't ready yet, too new to the team & the offense, but in week 3? Come'on man! Seriously Oakland, are you going to play the fool/tool again?

Does Lee Evans have leprosy? Jeebus, it seems like Losman & Edwards are seriously terrified of getting infected if they throw to Lee Evans.

Have I mentioned that Brian Westbrook is an absolute stud yet? I am seriously regretting passing on him for Reggie Bush, LJ, Gore, SA & others this year. I must admit, I had Westbrook as the #5 RB in PPR leagues, yet there were several times (around 3) that I explicitly passed him over for a more perceived "safer" pick like Reggie Bush (LOL, I will never make that mistake again.) I am the ultimate Brian Westbrook under-estimator, I promise I will not make the same mistake next year.

Homer here

Pittsburgh is for real. Tomlin is meticulous and will exploit any matchup disadvantage.

Signed rossum, allready scored a 98 yard KO return

Special tems costed us games last year, this year look out. Pats fans that think they can roll over us, better watch your words.

You can say we played nobody but we beat the 2-0 9'rs like red headed stepchildren
