What if Jets trade David Harris to Broncos for Brandon Marshall? (1 Viewer)

I have no idea how likely it is, but I'm sure you all have seen the story on the FBG News page: "ESPNews reports the Denver Broncos would want New York Jets LB David Harris in any trade involving WR Brandon Marshall, according to a source."

If there is any truth to this, and if it were to happen, I suspect this would have a very strong impact on the tremendous forecasts for DJ Williams' season--n'est ce pas?

I agree, and from what I've been reading elsewhere, the initial comment was very speculative. Still, it scared me into drafting David Harris since I already had DJ Williams!

I totally agree, but I wouldn't have bothered taking him yet if not for this rumor. Now if there is no trade, I have DJ; if there is, I have Harris. And, heck, Harris might be worthwhile anyway (particularly since this is the 24th round of my draft so I got him very late).

oops my mistake, I read your sentence above as "it scared me into not drafting".

From what I've seen of the Jets defense, Harris is both shedding blocks well and getting to the ball as the LILB, taking plenty of snaps as a 4-3 MLB and getting plenty of high leverage nickel opportunity in pass rush. I think his value would be slightly less as an every-down SILB in Denver alongside a very good pursuing and coverage backer in DJ Williams. Williams would see less tackle opportunity, but still have a shot at LB1 value as the WILB on a shaky team.

Probably just a paper exercise, but were this to occur, the most significant value change would be in favor of whomever replaced Harris in New York, especially if a guy like Jamaal Westerman were handed an every-down role.

I understand the Jets' fans being leary about bringing Marshall onto their team and losing Harris, but I truly don't know what the Broncos would gain from this exchange, unless draft picks were included.I know Harris is a very good linebacker, but Andre Davis/Wesley Woodyard are more than capable of playing the ILB role designed for them, and there is no way he replaces D.J. Williams. I know we are really struggling at the SOLB position, but would he really fit that position? If he could step in and be a force at the Sam backer spot and be a 3-down linebacker alongside D.J. Williams then I would warm up to the idea.Fantasy-wise: I would say Marshall would get a big upgrade in NY as Sanchez has a live enough arm to get it deep to Marshall, and Marshall is big enough to help Sanchez out if he overthrows him. Harris would be a downgrade in my opinion on the Broncos, no matter what position he ends up playing.

Man I don't know what to think of this! I love having DJ playing the Willis role in this defense but I also have d. Harris and I don't know how this is going to work. If anything you have to assume Harris would be ineffective for the first several games wouldn't you??? I know its a similar D but I don't see him getting off the plane and starting week 1. Need the pros to break this down further......

Got to agree with jene here. harris value slips and the new NYJ guy value skyrockets
