What if the G-men added another bruiser back? (1 Viewer)

Everyone seems to have them getting another speedy back or "scat back" to compliment Jacobs but what if it was another bruiser?

How about pounding Jacobs at a D, then this new RB comes in and pounds the D?

Wouldn't that be tough for any D to handle? esp in the 4th Q?

Does it "have to" be a scat back?

Who is in the game on 3rd downs? Ward?Sure they could draft Bush. What's the point? No 3rd down back, and two short yardage backs. At worst, they need someone for 3rd downs, threat out of the backfield, 2 min drill, I'm not sure Jacobs or a new big back really fill that role.

Thunder & THUNDER?

does not compute...does not compute...

Bri - Do you have a back in mind or are you just throwing this out here?

just a thoughtI thought several Jags backs weighed a little bit more not much but a little bit.Means was 245, Mack was 240. Stewart I was wayyyy off on.Jacobs is 260. Anyhow I was going to throw out there that Coughlin has used such a system but apparently I'm off on the weight some.

they aren't lookking for scat backs per se, they are looking for a starting RB, I'm not so sure they think Jacobs is a guy who can handle the full workload. Michael Turner is a name that keep s popping up. How would he be considered a 'scat back', the dude weighs 237 lbs.

Fred Taylor's name pops up from time to time, he's a big back , 226 lbs.

so unless they are bringing Warrick Dunn to NY, I don't hear any names of small rb's thrown in the mix.

Way to think outside of the box. :lmao:

I think their main concern is to add a guy that they perceive could handle 25-30 carries per game should Jacobs get hurt or not turn out to be that sort of RB. I'm not saying they couldn't use a 3rd down type receiving RB but I think those types of RB are easier to find and cheaper. I'm just saying don't be surprised if they bring in a guy that isn't necessarily a complimentary type RB......

Coughlin connection? Makes more sense than other names I've read.

I think they draft a small back and might sign Dunn.

I got a better idea. Add a ####### WR that can catch Eli's awful passes. Someone 6-3 or bigger. Toomer is on his last leg and we all saw what happens when you try and play football with 1 WR (Burress) and a TE.

This is the scenario that has alot of local Rutgers fans thinking Brian Leonard might wind up with the Giants. Although he would be considered a "big" back, he excells in the passing game, and a combo of Jacobs and Leonard would give the Giants alot of options to go back to the "smashmouth" type of football that used to be a requirement at Giants Stadium. Alot of the criticism of Manning and his accuracy is fair, but there was a time when the Giants didn't even try to establish a deep passing game in the latter part of the season because it was so difficult with the cold and wind in the stadium.

Realistically speaking, the giants will pick up 2 RBs if Ward doesn't come back strong from his season ending injury.

Jacobs + Ward are all the RBs Giants currently have. No way a team goes into a season with 1 and a half backs on the squad.

Leonard would be an interesting backfield mate for Jacobs. He seems to have good hands and blocks really well. They say he has lost about 15 lbs in an effort to move from FB to HB.He seems like a good versatile player who shouldn’t cost the Giants a 1st round pick.

Coughlin and management are definitely in "win-now" mode, so they are likely to take an aging scatback, such as Fred Taylor, and roll the dice. I can see Chris Brown coming to New York, or even Corey Dillon.

I don't think Giants management can stomach the PR of sending more draft picks to San Diego, so Burner is out of the question.

Taylor & Brown both would probably get pulled at the stripe, and both have had injury issues. I'd be happy to see either go to NY :bye:

I live for NY Giants football.. and though I currently HATE ou brass it is what it is...that being said expect the Giants to move in the FA not the draft for a RB.. Tatum Bell is the biggest prospect.. Tom C cured Tikis fumblitis and will be able to Tatums also. Jacobs is not trusted to get the full load..that I gaurantee you. Other names that make sense is D Williams.. Giants look for those players written off as a inj risk. Green is another name but I don't think it will happen.

Other names can be Rhodes..and that is a decent chance also.

The Giants will make a lot of FA moves this year and focus on Defense in the draft.

Expect the Giants to go OL, RB and WR in FA for offense..and defense they will focus on Samuels and possibly a LB of high stature.

If the Giants are in a win now mode they had better find a LOT (left offensive Tackle) to replace Pettigout..their best OL who they cut (rumored to be because his leg inj is worst than orig thought to be) PLUS why would they cut Aarington who they had basically for nothing seeing he was on a incentive based contract? He was just coming along when he went down again..shame.
